But -- like a polite 12 year old -- I walked to the back yard in order to avoid interrupting James & his lovely Aunt. The guy is a true talent -- as are these terrific ladies providing harmony! My older Bro & his family have relocated to North Texas -- so "The Heartland" thrives with older & newer generations with such sweet, melodic music! Love it! Cheers! * Cav *

What a beautiful performance of this song- even better than the original release. I first listened to this song at age 14 in 1969 when it was released in the US. These girls are younger than the song and they blend into it beautifully. The younger generations are very appreciative of the older music, but only those of us that lived the era feel not only the memory of the song but the picture of our lives when James Taylor sang it. Each generation captures within themselves the times of their youth.

A great, perceptive,comment. Particularly the last sentence. This is not to say that other experiences from other times can't or shouldn't be sought. The sentiments expressed in Emmylou Harris's song "Play the drum slowly " resonate keenly with me, and I wish greatly that I had queried my parents more than I did. Too late for me now, but I recommend it to those who still can. Choomie

JT music never ages, it’s magical and beautiful i hope we never lose him in my time. I can lay down and put on his music and it relaxes me a puts a smile from ear to ear. JT is one who was put on this earth to create music and to entertain others. If we could play his music on the battlefields of this world in all languages We could end all wars. JT I want to thank you for being one of the main musicians for inspiring me to take up playing acoustic guitar and singing. Both you and Dan Folgelberg instantly had that effect upon me. Both yours and his music has always had this effect on me. May God bless you both and your music for truly blessing the people of this world more than you could ever know. I say this in all sincerity and may your music be played forever. You are truly an angel. Sincerely, Rob Johnson. I pray for at least one opportunity to hear you live once more and to meet you in person at least one time to express my appreciation for you. If you ever get to play near Salt Lake City, Utah again please let me know. It would be an honor to meet you honestly. Take Care., a friend.😊

Anji Dee I don't think those guys are a good comparison but whatever. I've alway thought of Taylor as one of a bunch of great singer/composers who came out of the 70's...like Joanie Mitchel, or Harry Nilsson. The Laurel Canyon crowd. His guitar playing definitely has a tender, almost introspective quality to it. I've enjoyed his music for years.
@ianbartle4565 жыл бұрын
There are very few who can offer the complete package like James. I've listened to acoustic songwriters for almost 45 years so please allow me to recommend 4. Bruce Cockburn and David Willcox as well as as the one who started them off - Paul Simon. Bruce is a song-oriented finger-picker without equal. NO-ONE, bar NO-one, can craft a lyric like Paul Simon. David must be really good to even be mentioned alongside 'em. He has a voice as smooth as James T's, great songs and some lovely open-tuned accompaniments that make you wonder why he's not a household name. Get a copy of How Did You Find Me Here. Oh, and did I mention Neil Young?
