Ash the three year old Doberman x Golden retriever has completed his 3 week stay with us. His owner was struggling with his reaction towards dogs which coupled with his strength and size was making walks very difficult.
During his stay we have taught Ash to disengage from unknown dogs and have given him the opportunity to take part in controlled interactions encouraging him to be polite and neutral around dogs, this in turn has helped his recalls.
We have taught Ash some new skills to help him with his loose lead walking to allow his owner to begin to take him to busier environments and have the ability to control him.
Whilst with us we have strengthened all his basic obedience by taking him to environments with varying levels of distractions and generalising his exercises. We have also added a settle on cue to allow his owner to work towards taking him with her for a coffee.
Ash is a big strong dog that needs consistency and patience to progress, we have enjoyed watching him develop during his stay and look forward to helping him and his owner take the next steps in her training journey.
