18:56 - Assuming you meant that the Gearhulk was letting Matthew play the Draw From Dreams, I would like to point out that Gearhulk can only cast instants from your graveyard (which is kind of weird, because most cards like that say "instant or sorcery", but I suppose WOTC didn't want to let you instant-speed boardwipe or anything like that with the Gearhulk).

Might be a moot comment in the sea of comments but I gotta say, I came over to this channel after seeing Joey Schultz like/reply to a tweet regarding a homophobic commenter being blocked earlier today (the upload date). I've heard of the channel before but have never given it an honest shot and I gotta say, I loved this video and will be perusing the rest of you guys' content. It's a small action to keep gay people safe and welcome in the community but it means the world to us who have experienced being excluded from a hobby for just who we love. Sorry for the huge comment but I just have to say it's appreciated and seen, and it makes me feel seen and excited that I'll find spaces in the community where I'm welcome not because of my queerness but despite and alongside it. Just want to point out that I noticed you went to target one of Brandon’s creatures with your Angel of Sanctions tokens which can’t target his creatures as they were lands as long as Ashaya was on the field. Ashaya makes an interesting counter to some of these strategies since a lot of removal nowadays specifies nonland permanents or creatures.

I believe they basically just mispelled Ishai for Ashaya. They targeted Ishai from Mathew's board (and you see the bird getting removed)

@@nikos731 Absolutely, when I originally commented I went back to check that but later in the video, Mudstah goes to target a creature on Brandon’s board with one of his Angel of Sanctions tokens but Brandon responds by bouncing the creature back to his hand with Quirion Ranger to save it despite it being an illegal target for Angel of Sanctions.

At 10:45 you don’t need to exile the caviler of dawn when it dies to return an artifact or enchantment. It is just an on death trigger.

really a nice game. with all the interaction we saw in this game, i am happy, that no one killed or bounced trostani while andrew was at one life. oh and countering one spell with the whelk and then trading it with the mirari's wake was hilarious. after his fast start hand, i was surprised brandon didn't play another forest after playing oracle of mul daya on turn 3. at some point i asked myself if matthew did play a budget deck (he didn't after checking the link). but he did play so many nice cards you don't see often like Winged Words, Compulsive Research or Drawn from Dreams. But i never noticed Of One Mind before and am gonna check if it fits in any of my decks. I also liked victory chimes. they are such a good fit for the flash deck. not sure if matt became monarch after attacking andrew, but wouldn't have changed much.

At 7:05 when your angel dies and Matthew gets his Ishai back, I just want to check on when this game was recorded. When the commanders and death triggers rule changed it became a second zone change as a state based action. The commander goes to exile, then moves to command zone, so when the return trigger happens, it looks only in the zone it moved the card to. It moved the card to exile, so that’s all it sees.

Just a small correction: the act of returning is not a trigger. It used to be in older cards like Oblivion Ring and Fiend Hunter, but not anymore in the current cards. This is relevant because the older cards actually couldn't get commanders back even with the old rulings: the card needed to stay in exile for the triggered ability to get it back.

6:50 Putting a Commander in the Command Zone is not a replacement effect anymore, since the rule change in June 2020. The Angel leaving would not let Matthew bring their Commander back, unless they didn't put it in the Command Zone from Exile.

6:50 Sorry, this is incorrect. With the rules update for Commander in Core Set 2021 that enables "commanders dying", the Banishing Light-type of effects now no longer functions like this. You choose. Exiled with, or Command Zone. You can no longer have it both ways.

Just wanted to point out that Scute Swarm does NOT trigger off of creatures even if those creatures can tap themselves for mana. Landfall is specific to lands only. It's in the name. Just wanted to point that out for next time.

4:09 That Glademuse is one reason why you don't main phase your Crop Rotation. Could have drawn a card from it. Also, you don't want other people having access to more colors by making their lands forests so Yavimaya Cradle is best found on the endstep before your turn.

Had you drawn that Survival of the Fittest, and still had Ashaya (who shouldn't have been exiled by Angel of Sanctions because it was an illegal target) then you could cast and activate Survival, find Keeper of Progenitus, and make infinite mana with the Q.Ranger combo. Then activate Survival to find Duskwatch Recruiter or Nylea Keen Eyed or Vivien's Grizzly to find all creatures to hand. Then Yeva, Destiny Spinner, Temur Sabertooth, Shaman of Forgotten Ways, and Kogla lets you fight the world and then game over to Shaman's Biorhythm ability.

It was good to see Trostani again, I have always loved your build. I did question why you didn't play her on some of those turns when you were making angels. You would have been able to gain some more life, and might have had a better shot in the long run. Were you worried about a board wipe?

Minor detail. Its no big deal at all since Brandon still had untapped mana at the end of his turn, but he tapped the Dryad Arbor the moment he played it as his land for turn. Dryad Arbor has summoning sickness and couldnt tap. 16:00 min mark. Again, it doesnt change the game and it doesnt really matter much because he wasnt going to use the dryad as a blocker anyway.

And if it did exile something that something doe not come back unless it's just been in exile continuously. In this case Ashaya had been exiled, sent to Command Zone, recast, bounced to hand, recast, countered, sent to the graveyard, and moved to the command zone again. Angel would definitely not see it as the same thing it exiled lol

This is an old game from before the rules change, right? If not, Ishai shouldn't have returned when Angel of Sanctions left, because it moved from the exile to the command zone, so the game no longer keeps track of it.

@@zacknair6202 Actually, with the new rules, it depends. If the commander would move to the hand or library, then zoning it is a replacement effect; the commander never goes to the designated zone. If the commander goes to the graveyard or exile, the next time state-based actions are checked, its owner gets to choose if it stays there or returns to the command zone. This allows players to get death triggers off their commanders while still zoning them and puts an end to this weird ruling about "Banishing Light" effects that allowed commanders to be pulled back from the command zone.

Sitting here thinking this game went on Way to long. Also that no one playing black made it so. Blue board wipes just make it way to easy for all these green decks to just rebuild and get more value. There really does need to be more diversity in these multi-player formats. Every single game I sit down to any more is just Blue/Green ramp control. Which is why I love that Edgar just got more support! Hahaha.
