Danpei's looking away from Joe completely unaware of his life slipping away, pre-occupied only with whether his boxer is the new world champion. Like the fights back in Juvie where he explains to Nishi that boxing has no room for empathy, only a cold fighting machine "We need a machine that will keep on fighting... until the end." Meanwhile Youko never takes her eyes off him, like the matches in Juvie where Joe tells her "You orchestrated this, you have to keep watching until the end".

Give a break to Danpei. Many times he tried to stop Joe from killing himself because of boxing. By the time Joe was fighting Jose, he had understood that Joe himself would never place his own safety or future above the ring he felt alive in. Danpei by then cared about Joe like a son, but he understood painfully well that boxing was everything to Joe, and as his trainer he could only push him forward.

I think there are no words to describe this work, it is beautiful wherever you want to see it. The conclusion and conflict, all to get to this moment. Giving the gloves to the love of his life knowing that he has fulfilled his mission, his fire became so powerful that he blinded everyone, and consumed everything without leaving anything, only white ashes remained. I think that Ashita no Joe is the most beautiful tragedy I have seen in my entire life, passion, nobility, glory, honor, love, breaks, affection, and reflections are things that are constantly played within the work. Joe Yabuki, a being who starts out as a horrible person, but deep down he always wanted to be good, his growth throughout the series is a step towards becoming a man. The second ending of this season, which I consider one of the most beautiful in the entire industry (if not the most beautiful), shows Yoko looking at Yabuki, her eyes shine, it is not because of sadness or happiness, she is moved. She sees how Yabuki has transformed into who he is and she can't help but get emotional. The relationship between them always gives you hints about their mutual crush on each other, I think Yabuki also fell in love with her, but he didn't want to accept it. In chapter 44 where Yoko tries to stop him and ends up proposing, Yabuki for a second looks happy and sad at the same time. He knows that he will not be able to enjoy that love because his end was already written, "The strongest man in the world is waiting for me in the ring, so I have to go. Thank you." Yabuki feels loved once again but he knows that he can't do anything about it. He is such a charismatic and protective character of his loved ones and although he was late, a good person. He fights for who he is and to prove to himself what is in the honor and nobility of fighting. In my opinion, he never stopped being one of the most human characters I've seen in an anime, we can understand how he feels at all times and we know why. I can only say thank you Ikki Kajiwara and Tetsuya Chiba for delighting us with such a work. To think that it ended half a century ago makes me only say one thing, Ashita no Joe is a classic that will never die, we love and will always love you Joe, wherever you ended up.

While AnJ is of course a manga showing the dark side of boxing and the harshness of life, I still fully believe it's also an inspirational manga. Despite all the shit Joe goes through, he still finds a way to laugh and smile. He always tries his hardest, remaining optimistic and hopeful. Whenever Joe finds out he can't get his boxing license, his first thought is to punch Wolf. This hypes up the public, which forces the boxing association into giving him one. Whenever Rikishi dies, he eventually returns to boxing after a long break, and gives everything he has into coming back and fighting Carlos. And whenever he starts facing weight issues and the severe effects of his punch drunk syndrome, rather than doing the sane option and fight in a higher weight division or quit, he remains stubborn. He chooses to fight with the terrible cards life dealt him. Although reality may try to stop Joe through every turn, things always end up working out for him

To be honest, it is an insult for it to be called an anime, or a manga. Rather, it shall be known as a masterpiece, the best piece of fiction ever written. This art of work leaves an expression of love, hate, melancholy, bewildered, anger, ambition, and reluctance to it's audience. The ending is unarguably the most desirable and fulfilling there is in the art of literature. Despite me knowing how it ended, when I witnessed it, it left natural emotions that left me thoughtfully sitting for days, trying to absorb this artwork of a mastery. I thank God for showing me this piece exists and the mangaka for creating this art.
@madden7732 Жыл бұрын
Why would it be an insult to be called an anime or a manga when it naturally is that? As comics, novels, animation or live action, they are all just a medium to tell a story whether its trash or masterpiece. With that said, yes, truly one of the best in the industry.

@@Lebelet I just made a little research myself and found out that the ending is apparently a somewhat huge topic in japanese manga-culture. People habe been theorizing wether Joe‘s alive out not since the day the final chapter released. The author of the manga later claimed that Joe died by his interpretation. The artist said the same after that, but was more ambiguous about it, saying he purposely drew it so adult can realize he died but children may think he’s just asleep. 🤔 So I think you can safely keep your title 👍🏻
