@@kathycournoyer5868 Yes, that is quite true, and my dad was a victim of it. I'm not sure if this comment was supposedly trying to come off as a bit aggressive, but, to me, I think it was a little. While I do agree with you, we have to understand that this is specifically her experience. She can portray it this well because she understands it. At the end of the video, it never specifies a gender to which DV occurs which you can interpret as the recognition of DV happening to everyone no matter what age, gender, ethnicity, color, or health. Males and females alike can be abusive and manipulative, it is quite hard to recognize the manipulation sometimes because of the difference between statistics of women experiencing DV compared to men. As well as the multiple stereotypes and double standards our society has created. Regardless, both sides should be looked after and held accountable in a just manner. I'm contradicted by the fact you asked her to make a second version. I believe that was insensitive of you even if it is coming from a good place in your heart. Regardless, I as a male domestic violence experiencer would also like one from a male perspective. I don't believe it would be right to ask her that. Though, if she does feel comfortable and willing to do so, then I would be grateful only if she doesn't get "forced' in a manner to do it. Thank you for understanding.

While saying it is woman's fault for selecting the wrong men because it is her fault she did not have a dad with skills and teach her what is a good man 😂 because man's job is to get paid to gossip and blame women for America's problems even blaming women for farmers planting gmo and injecting us to become diabetic even get cancer so someone born without a good organ can have the healthy ones

beautiful voice, song, and video. i love that the mother holds herself back, even though she sees her own abuser in the daughter's boyfriend, and waits until her daughter sees him for what he is before she makes sure he never sets foot in her daughter's life again. i think holding back was a heck of a lot harder than picking up a shotgun. you can tell someone how bad a person is for them until you're blue in the face, but when love distorts the vision, all you'll get is alienated. i get the impression from the video that the mom knows that all too well, maybe from her own past actions, and remembers what it was like to be blinded by love. i remember that blindness too, and what it took for me to decide to get out of my own violent situation. if i ever suspect my own kid is being abused or gaslighted, i'll be ready to step in as soon as i can without causing a rift between us.

She doesn't remember all parts of it, but the first time was when her father passed away. It continued, she still loved him. But one day she decided to leave, because she realised even if she chooses this for herself, she cannot choose this for her future children. It wasn't easy, she loved him like an addict. She moved halfway across the country. But she survived and she lived happily ever after.

Love this song after being in an abusive marriage and I have two boys myself now and it always makes me think how much I would do to protect them no matter what.

❤ I said this all the time to my siblings growing up. (I was the oldest sibling and the 3rd parent.) Once my siblings got old enough, they developed that same mentality. It's a special kind of love.

This is my mine and my 3 1/2 year old daughters favorite song. She demands that I play it back to back over and over and it makes my heart so happy.

As someone who's been through Domestic Violence, I love how singers are starting to bring awareness to it, some people escaped it, some people are still going through it, im just glad people are starting to realize the severity of it, this song definitely hit home.

I have 3 daughters so this hits home, I'd do anything and i do mean anything for my children. Lay a hand on my girls and watch how fast you meet the devil.

I change the lyrics and sing this to my son cuz I won't put up with a woman putting her hands on my baby boy. Domestic violence needs to stop all together no matter who's doing it

When I opened KZbin this was the first thing on the page and I was like this looks good, listened to it … twice and I was right. So I thought since this song hits she’s got to have some other bangers. Went to Apple Music and boom I was right! They were all bangers! This sound Ashley has just hits different for me then the female country songs now. I hear some old school female country with new female country in the songs, absolute winners to me!

Don’t ever mess with a momma when it comes to her kids. I promise. I’m battling a very evil man in court right now for my kids and it’s taken all I have in me to let him live after all he’s done. But I’m praying court doesn’t fail us!

I really needed to see a more climactic ending and this would've been PERFECT.
@ashley-ryan-music Жыл бұрын
That’s fair! We went through many different ideas for an ending and of course as an artist, you always want to do things in a tasteful manner. I love what we decided on, but I also really appreciate feedback so thank you 😊🙏🏼

In all honesty as much as I wanted a a climate ending too, one that fits the narrative of the song like she shooting off and the screen darken and we get a window glass shuttered or the tires or sth. But in reality a mom with ta 15-ish daughter to take care of is not ganna risk going to jail over a punk , so yeah realistic one I would say . especially if she did it before and knows the risk which I think she did kill the father and gotten away with it from that flashback in the beginning with her in a mug shot :p

This hits home. I went through so much trauma with my past relationships that left me traumatized. It made me look at things differently and look at myself differently. I now have a 3 year old daughter that I love with my whole heart and I’ll protect her at all costs. I’ll save her from what I wasn’t saved from. ❤❤
