I started doing Surya namaskar during lockdown and I have advanced to this level in 4 yrs . Still more power to the couples who can do it like its nothing but in real it takes a lot of dedication and core strength

Please educate me, I thought “sun salutation” is the English translation for “surya namaskar”

@@HappyCGM Yap you are absolutely right and I am just concerned about cultural dissolution see for example when people say 'yoga' (a Sanskrit word) it can be translated to exercise or something or 'kunfu' as martial art but we say yoga or kunfu as they are which gives them a sense of their origin. similarly 'Surya namaskar' is a name to a practice consist of particular set of exercises. My concern is that people should know its origin too. It is originated and practiced in the culture of 'Sanatan dharma' ( or hindu). See most people will also say 'Indian culture' which leads to a different discussion. As right now any normal person would think of India as 'country of different cultures or religion'. But from which particular culture or religion does these things comes from? Most people don't know. For example 'zero'.

This original Surya namaskar ashtanga yoga. Modern yoga is hatha yoga in tat 12 steps will come for each leg. Old technique is difficulty so modern hatha yoga they introduce..

Literal handstand isn't there, but the landing on the feet when getting into dandasana has to be as smooth as possible, which engraves the effects on the lower abdomen and spine. I think it's a variation, but yes not the authentic one.
