This song was pretty much everywhere in 1999! The backing music is a sampled loop of the 1976 disco hit "More More More" by Andrea True Connection. The video was all over MTV - They shot it with their friends in Daytona Beach on the cheap.

What they did was pretty simplistic if you know the roots of this hook. They looped a snippet the 70's pop song 'more more more' and built around it. You can clearly hear the repetition. But this song had great staying power back in the late 90's - but they were the ultimate one-hit wonder.

The instrument used to make that hollow sound is called a temple-block, a type of woodblock percussion instrument where a wooden mallet (with a wooden or rubber end) is stuck against a hollowed-out round woodblock (of varying shape and size), often creating a sound that is similar to a horse clopping.

i remember this song was huge for one summer Len was a one hit wonder the album You can’t Stop the bum rush) is hard to try and explain its this strange mash-up concept album with various styles in one album it’s 80’s Rock, 90’s Hip Hop on acid one track is a straight-up base track (anyone who remembers base cassettes/cd’s will understand what i’m talking about) the entire album is actually very impressive but, has A.D.D. as a band/group they didn’t know what they wanted to be they had C.C. DeVille (Poison) and Biz Markie on the same album its pure insanity but, actually a interesting and fun album to discover

@technomikelyons2 жыл бұрын
Canadian here -- yes! Butter tarts are a favourite treat. If you've never tried them, you are missing something amazing. Also, the version we are listening to on this video is the album version. The video version has the sounds of the band members goofing around at the beach. The radio version of the song just has the music with no talking or play sounds.

I think they lyrics are dadaist. Even so, the 'I know it's up for me' brought tears to my eyes, kind of a juxtaposition to the happy bouncy sound of the song. And if you watch the video, people looooooooved Sharon.

This song is like a wine spritzer. Light, bubbly, funny and sunny. Suggestions: Joan Baez "With God On Our Side" (1963) is pretty topical these days. Also, "MacArthur Park"by Richard Harris (1968), followed back to back with Weird Al Yankovic's parody song based on it, "Jurassic Park" (Alapalooza 1993).

This song was playing throughout the radio for 2 years straight back in 9798 I believe. It has a nice bounce with that retroactive music they used it's a Summertime song that makes you bounce. It doesn't matter what race you are as a black man I find myself doing the Running Man along with it at times lol. As a guy who was around 20 when this came out this is a part of my lifetime that I will always remember what I was doing when it was playing on the radio. This type of music is the chronolog of Our Lives.

The song was written during, and is about, the hangover and processing the experiences after a weekend-long drug and alcohol-fuelled rave like we used to have in the 90s. LEN has 2 other singles that are mainstream enough for a listen on the KZbin; "Feelin' Alright" and "My Neighborhood".

Kind of but not really - the central narrative is that two people, a guy and a girl, almost wound up together with each other but for whatever reason (he didn't approach her, she didn't approach him, etc, they didn't end up together and both of them are lamenting their lack of action to themselves - they're both beating themselves up over not approaching the other, the morning after the party where they first encountered one another

that drum is a sample from a 70s disco hit "More, More, More", and im nearly positive it's a Linn Drum machine (think electro disco drum sound). Linn drum was used, famously, on John Cougar Mellancamp's "Jack & Diane" for that snappy snare hit near the end (fun fact: it was The Bee Gee's drum machine). EDIT: it also could have been (as mentioned below) a temple-block. Both the Linn Drum, the Roland Juno-60 synth, and a few early Roland drum machines all had ways of creating similar sounds to the temple-block as the latter was used in a lot of varying dance styles (salsa, bossa nova, etc).
