Hi Goodhumans. You’re absolutely right… We recognize how the title and clips featured in this episode have not done justice to the Asian American community - a diverse group in itself. Titling the video 'Asian Americans' reinforces the notion that Asian's only have the features of East Asians, from the fair skin, folded eyes etc. Honestly Jubilee you completely missed the mark with this one, Asia is most definitely not limited to East Asians. I feel like that difficulty in distinguishing different Asians is huge within America because you can't just categorise all 'Asian' struggles under one umbrella. We're all so vastly diverse with different cultures, sounds and looks that it's just tone-deaf to put a specific type of Asian struggle under all Asians. Whilst I get that this video is to inform and educate, specifications are necessary. Maybe you should do a series dedicated to individual Asian struggles.

As mentioned, very proud of the work you do and I hope the others who brought this up are too. Nobody should exist just to call things out just because. This is important for *all* of us, and if it is to be created by a community that *all of us* are a part of, then *some of us* feel let down when this kind of oversight is made. We're not an angry mob; we are hurt because we've not been included. You are one of two major Asian American creators on KZbin that I and many of my friends believe are "the standard." Thanks for the response and looking forward to what comes next.

Even though this is directed more towards the East Asian people. I feel like so many (if not all) of these experiences and emotions apply and are relevant to Asian people as a whole. Diverse families aren’t bad at all they’re just hard to live in during these times. My parents raised me how their parents did and placed our family in a community like the ones they grew up in. I’ve met adoptive parents who put their kids through hell because they’re ignorant and couldn’t care less about Asian culture. But in my experience, my parents tried to do everything they could for me coming from a place of love and understanding. They thought they were doing what was best for me and my future. But I needed to connect with something I was being labeled for but had no attachment to. If only I had known that growing up. Now that I’m older and still detached, being Asian for me is nothing more than the features of my body. I hope one day our society can find a way for all people to share culture comfortably without acts of racism or appropriation. Maybe then I could find a way to feel whole. There’s a lot of bad history that haunts our relationships with one another. I think the next step is accountability for the past and addressing how it affected the present. Then asking how can we change in order to mold a better future? I want a future where adopted parents know how to introduce their children to the culture they had to leave behind in another life. Understandably most of the comments are about how this video should be titled to specify east Asians as the video isn't continentally diverse beyond that but let's also take a moment to appreciate the message behind the video and how it's trying to raise awareness and the severity behind how east Asians feel and are viewed in American or not even just American in western societies generally, yes it's should say east Asian in the title so as not to generalise but I think the fact that most of the comments are about this partly is taking away from the message of the video and we should highlight the content of what this group of people are trying to say and advocate for more and how they are trying to reach out and help people

This happens in every country where some minority ethnic or cultural or religious or demographic group isn't properly represented or gets picked on. The underlying issue is that in America that is considered racism to not be recognized or ill-represented, but the video still focused on East Asians who have an overwhelming representation above all other Asian American groups. Most people caught on pretty fast there is already a problem within the Asian American category itself. This has been a growing issue as more and more people from across the world's largest continent immigrate to the United States. The racism that is pointed at other American racial categories is being done within the Asian American community to itself. The LAPD has addressed that they can't work with various Asian ethnic communities easily due to racially profiling them all as Asian. Different Asian groups might have differing social and policing needs, cultural values, languages, religions, cultural identities, and dietary requirements. This is a serious issue beyond the "you should be afraid" narrative on the news. There are a lot of different kinds of Asians and this issue will continue to grow in the future, especially if America keeps getting more and more racially unstable.

@@purplespeckledappleeater8738 thank you I completely agree, people should be more aware of cultural differences as each individual country is different and idk why anyone would think otherwise as Asia is an entire continent and yes the largest in the world so I don't get how people can generalise or ignore people in the media, yes you definately see more east Asians in the media above any other cultural background from the continent and as you can see some of the peoples secrets about being east Asian American are very heartbreaking and then if that's bad I can't even imagine what having even smaller representation and understanding would feel like, it is a fundamentally flawed society if the police force can't interact with the population well and I'm not sure of it's a systematic thing or if individuals in the police force are not educating themselves about who is in their area more but I didn't know the LAPD said that, it just goes to prove the lack of awareness for this in society, thank you for teaching me more about this too ♥️

@@Stephanie-s2024 I don't think that qualifies as systemic the fact that communities are being forced to enact racial policies due to national and state politics, which inhibit the ability to support all members of a specific community. I think it's a policy problem and an ideological problem more than a race problem because they absolutely can cater to ethnic neighborhoods, but can't due to racial policy from the top down. Science has advanced enough where Americans are fully capable of understanding the uniqueness of various ethnic and cultural groups despite there being over 60,000 ethnicities in the world. There are only so many ethnic and cultural neighborhoods in the United States and each one should not be handled using one-size-fits-all racial policy, which is not only doable but often a necessity. Race isn't a necessity anymore, just laziness and some political organizations have insidious agendas. I'm not from California, but I've been studying California culture because of racism and the majority of Asian immigrants settle in California. The next two states are Texas, which is in a demographic flux from domestic immigration and under invasion from the Southern Border, and New York.

I don't know why, but I shed a tear or more while watching this video. 😢🇵🇭 As a natural-born, full, and native Filipino from Zamboanga City, Philippines, who identifies as ethnic and native Zamboangueño, Filipino citizen and national, Maritime/Insular/Archipelagic Southeast Asian, Southeast Asian, and Asian, as well as Hispanic or at least Hispanicized or Hispanized at some level or degree, and as someone who will never fully understand nor even just at least understand the API experiences of Filipino citizens and nationals (natural-born and naturalized), Filipino American citizens and nationals, and other people in the United States of America and around the world who are half, quarter eighth, part, mixed, or ambiguously Filipino and other Asians and/or Pacific Islanders, or at least have Asian and/or Pacific Islander lineage, ancestry, descent, background, bloodline, or the like, I felt sad watching this video, and I felt even more sad knowing and remembering a lot of news this year from the USA about hate crimes against all of my people from the Asia-Pacific region which even had reached our national news here in the Philippines this year specifically about various hate crimes against Filipinos, Filipino Americans, and the like. I will never fully understand nor even at least understand the API experiences right now in the USA, but I am sending, in spirit, at least my empathy towards all of my people who traces back even at least a drop of their ancestry, lineage, background, bloodline, or descent from the Asian-Pacific region all around the world. I may not fully understand nor even at least understand the API experiences, but I am here willing to learn even just through videos such as this one and to finally at least understand even for just a little bit, so my understanding and empathy would hopefully increase even for just a little bit in every time when I learn more and more. I still can't grasp and understand us humanity, which I also know I'll never ever can fully do so, and why is it considered bad or even wicked and evil by some to most just to be who and what you are and/or really are. For me, identity is a fact and state of being who and what you are and/or really are. It's not a choice, decision, option, phase, stage, nor the like, but a fact and state of being a human person, being, organism, species, and individual. It is something you're born with. It is something that is your body and your soul. It is both the visible and invisible parts, sides, and dimensions of you. It is something in and within you all along. It is something that is you. It is you, and you are it. It may take some time to fully and finally explore, understand, respect, accept, live, and be it. It may also be too clear and visible to too vague and hidden for you and for others. You may even struggle and may even have a lot of confusions with it once or more in your lifetime, but it is still who and what you are and/or really are. You may fully deny it to fully not, but it is still a fact and state of yourself as a human person, being, organism, species, and individual. It still was, is, and will be who and what you are and/or really are.

I see a lot of ppl complaining that this is not inclusive of South Asians, but think about it for a second: this video is specifically about asian hate during the COVID pandemic, and most asians getting attacked are east Asians, due to them "looking Chinese". While I think jubilee probs shouldn't have titled it AAPI, here's my take on this I guess

Warning: ESSAY🤣 Honestly, PI’s shouldn’t even be included in this. They have different stereotypes and experiences in the US. This hate crime is towards Asian people not Including Pacific Islanders. Citizens of Hawaii are mostly Filipinos and Japanese descent yet some Filipino-Americans are just d*mb enough to claim that they’re PI’s too just because they’re Filipinos from Hawaii and not Filipinos from the Philippines. There’s similarities in Austronesian and some PI’s in culture because it’s said that Polynesians came from Austronesian but there’s a lot of differences too. Malay archipelago (eg. Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc) are not just Austronesian, there’s a lot of Chinese and Japanese influence in that region unlike in Pacific Island. Tongans, Samoans, and Native Hawaiians looked a lot different than your modern Filipinos and other Asians. There’s a lot of Filipinos being targeted in this hate crimes yet the rest of PI’s are not, because they’re different. Sure there are lapses in genetics between Austronesian and some PI’s but in general they looked entirely different. Just looked at Filipino pop groups like SB19 or BINI and those KPOP groups, they looked different than the majority of PI’s. I wonder why they group Asians and Pacific Islander in one category and called it “AAPI”, it’s just not right.

I feel bad because I know it is rough for her to be told all the time that she is sinful or to have to sit across the table from the priest who side eyes her. Her family still accepts her but I know it's a point of continual contention. And there's that fear of what the whole entire extended family thinks about her since she has a huge close extended family. I'm a displaced 2nd gen off the rez half native who faced a bad reaction when I came out as bi to my full native dad. I don't have any ties to my family anymore. So, I'm not asian but I know it sucks to face that kind of backlash and anti lgbt sentiment from your parents. I hope the best to lgbt Asians who have to deal with that from your family. Years later as an adult I took a DNA test that revealed I am half Korean. When I speak up against hate crimes I get looked down on for only being half Korean. Sad really. I never chose to be any race, nor did I chose to not know my ancestry but still don't fit in anywhere. Jubilee is appreciate all you have done in this video even if you didn’t represent all Asians. I would also like if you did something like this for Hispanics too.

Please do a Middle Ground between Liberal Feminists vs. Radical Feminists. It's a very interesting, sensitive issue and needs to be discussed respectfully

When I think of "radical" feminists I think of misandrists. What is the main difference between a liberal and a radical feminist in your mind?
@ぼじん-o5r3 жыл бұрын
@@b.1162 A radical feminist aims to dismantle all the patriarchal societal structures from the ground up, meanwhile liberal feminists prefer to incorporate the society around them to their morals and ideas. They have different opinions regarding sex work, kink, gender identity, and whether feminism is for everyone (liberal) or only for women (radical)

I'm half Chinese half Scottish this is becoming more apparent these days but I'd say still as prevalent as ever. Just last night I was out drinking with my friends, leaving the pub to go home we walked by a woman about my age (23) and she proceeded to shout "Hey china boy can you cook me some fried rice". Ignoring the fact that she was blatantly racist, ignoring the fact she was drunk what really got to me was two things: A. This was a girl who is my age, a racist as blatant as any skinhead who is literally gen z. Astonishing. B. I can almost certainly guarantee She wouldn't dare say something as racist as that to a black person. Racism against orientals is fundamentally normalised here in my own home country, Scotland. Wouldn't surprise me about elsewhere.

i think every asian kid in a country where asians are a minority went through this journey of not accepting who you are and refusing to embrace your own culture when you're, because it makes you different than everyone else, and because other kids will make fun of you and bully you, but many of us have grown up and learned to love our culture and embrace our identity, which is amazing i just wanted to add that if you don't speak the language or you don't know how to cook the food, it's never too late to learn! i'm half korean and half white, and growing up i never wanted anything to do with korea or being asian in general, however i have found a lot of comfort regarding my identity issues after i decided to learn korean as an adult, it feels really awesome to be able to connect with my dad on this level, and with my own culture that i have learned to accept and love :) i highly recommend studying the language or getting very involved in your culture, feels very gratifying
