And here we are today with people complaining about curly cuts when Mr Dickey had already provided them with an answer years ago.

Kitty Lockett I’m not even sure what a country press is but it was funny.

I just twist my hair and trim the ends. In braids/twists it becomes very obvious what needs to be cut without blow drying and i have 4c. I blow dried recently and was actually quite surprised at how even it was. Never had a professional trim so i expected it to be all kinds of jagged but it wasn't.
@ashantamitchell12676 жыл бұрын
mailhei I've tried twisting and trimming but it didn't work for me. My hair is very curly at the ends so it ended up uneven. Blow drying or flat ironing gives me the best results.

I prefer this method too. This plus the search and destroy method. I have heard of one hair dresser who said she cringes when she hears about this method. She goes for straightening and cutting. Since I wear plaits/braids and twists most of the time my hair should be cut the way I style it. I don't like heat on my hair (not even blow drying with my sensitive scalp) and my hair is natural. I also like to have a bit of a natural taper so my plaits/braids don't unravel. I don't use hair additions/extension and I see no need to be putting rubber bands on my hair when it can be avoided. I think deva cuts look good on some people but it won't work out too well in plaits/braids.

Lol, I tried doing the curl by curl for a year and my hair is destroyed. Again you are 💯 correct .

I don’t get how stylists can get a shape (that looks good when curly- so no pyramid shape and such) when cutting it straight and not seeing how the various curls shrink. Can you explain in another video?
@rll52996 жыл бұрын
TheHeebieGeebie ...I know one stylist Moknowshair recommended in one of her videos to do round layers and you will have a nice shape when your hair is curly. I'm not sure how long ago she posted that video.

Great video! Thank you for touching these points of view! I have had both techniques performed on my coily head and the best way for me to get an overall trim for each curl is a blow out then trim. The cutting technique that is completed curl by curl left my hair uneven and it would not get rid of all of my tangled ends. In my opinion it is great for shape but not so great for a trim. 👍👍

I get mine blow dried then trim, it always reverts back. How do you feel about the Deva cut, I personally don’t care for it, but that’s me.

If you blow the hair out to cut it, how can you be sure that it will fall back into a nice shape curly when there are multiple hair types & various amounts of shrinkage on the client's head? I guess blowing it out to address the dead ends and then cleaning it up while its curly and dry?

Chloe Yorke Dickey cut my hair yesterday. He looks at the hair and listens to any details you provide. I wanted bangs but was worried they'd be too short. He cut them perfectly dry. The whole shape was gorgeous so now I can wear it straight or curly!

I ALWAYS blow my hair out and then let my stylist trim it. I think it’s the best way to get a full overall trim.

I have a question. I’m 67, I have 4C/fine/low porosity hair. My bangs are stunted, is they’re a way to get them to grow? They used to. I’ve started to wet my hair daily and condition it, I co wash only.

Hello, for Type 4C hair is it beat to use cold or warm water? Is comb coils a healthy protective style? What do you think about hair vitamins? Thank you so much for these videos!

Hi...you always mention 4b/4c textures are not putting enough water in our hair. Will you please explain how the hair will react, what we should be looking for when the hair has been hydrated during the cleansing process. Also, is it realistic to expect 4b/4c tightly textured hair that is in a wash n go style will not have movement when completely dry?
@keamber.vaughn6 жыл бұрын
I have tightly textured 4b hair and my wash n go style still has movement when completely dry and I air dry. I started cowashing more frequently (don't know why I stopped honestly) after watching this series and my hair AND scalp are SO much more healthy now and my hair NEVER dries out and rarely tangles. If I do a wash n go I redo it every 2 days (so if I wash and style Sunday I'm redoing it Tuesday). If I do a twist out I will wash that Sunday then Tuesday do the twist out and wear my hair out and either Wed or Thur I'll redo my hair. Every third wash I use a shampoo since my cowash conditioner has silicone in it (Tresemme Flawless Curl). I've been on this routine for about a month now and notice a HUGE difference in my hair and scalp since they don't have time to dry out before it's time to cowash again.

TheRealCoachKe Thanks for sharing. For the past three weeks, I have been watering my hair everyday in the shower and am now noticing the hydration coming through.

I don't know why frequent co washing helps but it does. Went through a everyday Bunning/ponytail phase. So much gel on a daily basis so naturally i would wanna wash at night with a low poo cleanser. I would condition the heck out of my hair after and when I was done would apply grape seed oil. A lot! Clip it up to sleep, it would be damp in the morning and I would apply a curl cream and gel or whatever. My hair got past tail bone reallt fast doing this. Even all the manipulation it grew a ton. Recently I switched to silcone free and was barely washing because of how tangled my hair was. My hair was a dry crunchy mess! My hair is 3a/3b btw but extremely dry and coarse. Hope this helps!

I got my hair cut (after a blowdry) at the hair salon and it genuinely f----d by hair up for months! it made the ends of my hair tangle more than they ever have before. I couldn't even get a comb through the length of my hair without it tangling at the ends - this is after detangling! It took me a bout 6 months to grow the cut out enough and get my hair back to normal...but - I still need a trim! I'm too scared to go to hairdresser now but how would I be able to do it myself? - Im 4c
