The protagonist in unforgiving was not a hero past his prime. He was an animal on a quest for redemption to honor the memory of his late wife. The woman who inspired him to be more than what he was. So yes he was past his prime, but at the beginning of the movie he was no hero.

28:56 I think the Hobbit movies would serve as good animated films. When I first read the book The Hobbit, I imagined it as a cartoon. (Yes I know there is an animated one from the 70's) I guess I'd simply like something more on-par with the best of the Disney renaissance era of animated films.
@samwallaceart28812 күн бұрын
I'd want a Fox-style animation with Brad Bird directing; he would get the mundane humor of the book, where all the dragon stuff and the war is popping off and meanwhile Bilbo's like "I should be on my sofa right now."

Everyone's got a hard on to re-live the magic of the original LOTR triology. Instead of digging up and defiling the corpse of Tolkien, they could just get Robert Eggers to do a big budget adaptation of The Song of The Nibelungs- starting with The Rhinegold. It's Tolkien before Tolkien. It's the Germanic Medieval folklore he drew upon to come up with the LOTR universe. It would be the ultimate prequel ! I KEEP SHOUTING THIS FROM THE MOUNTAIN TOPS, AND NO ONE IS LISTENING TO ME!!! IT WOULD BE THE ULTIMATE "F-YOU" TO AMAZON!!

The Duran interview on election was fantastic: "US politics & policy, post Trump win w/ Mel K"
@cynthiajohnson941213 күн бұрын
Thanks for the recommendation. I'm a big Duran follower and saw this in my feed but didn't watch yesterday. I'd heard the name Mel K but never heard her speak, and now 10 minutes in I'm really impressed. I'm a huge 'We the People...' believer. I had a chance to be a small town newspaper reporter in Vermont for a while and I had to cover the interminable select board meetings (twice monthly) - what a slog. My deadline was noon the next day and I might be up till 3AM after a long drawn out meeting just getting down the points of what happened, then the next day I 'd have to add a catchy narrative and headline that would grab the public's interest and make them want to read about what the local government was up to. Then I had to recruit a my own proofreader and get it at least basically covered all before noon. But anyway, I always highlighted and celebrated when regular people (non-activists) came to the meetings to petition the government to address a grievance or highlight a cause. I think I'm gonna be spending the next four years (working for free) rallying the people to really start taking back this country from the dark forces that have taken root. As a reporter, the deal was if I covered those mind-numbingly horrible government meetings and some other assignments, they let me basically cover whatever else I wanted to write about - so I had so much fun acting as cheerleader for my town and elevating what the good, wholesome hardworking townfolk were up to. Anyway, I deeply, deeply believe in the 'we the people' being the beginning, middle, and the end, where the buck stops, when it comes to how our government runs. So I'm really excited to be introduced to Mel K. Alexander already said she's gonna be back on the Duran, regularly by the sound of it. People are now blaming the Press, but when people accept something without evidence, just based on the slippery word of some nameless, faceless anonymous source or labcoated mucky muck, how can they expect the outcome to be good? We the people are the ultimate check and balance on the government, and when we stop doing our jobs of demanding the watchdogs do their jobs in a credible fashion, of course things are gonna go off the rails. Anyway, thanks for the push to meet Mel K., I appreciate it. P.S. I'm always interested in what the smart people are doing and saying. I have zero interest in what people dumber than I am are up to. Which is why I watch Critical Drinker - he's way smarter than I am. And I learn something every time I listen to him.

Jackie Brown. When I first saw it I thought it was kind of boring and the POV jumps were gimmicky. Watching when older the actual point of the movie stands out more. "If I wait any longer, I'm going nowhere and it'll be too late; I'm much more afraid of that than anything Odell will do."

Good directing bad writing: Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Good visual storytelling, good action, excellent performances; but the story is bullshit. Good writing bad directing: Gran Torino. Excellent story and themes, dialogue does all the heavy lifting; but some of the actors had zero direction and are super hit-or-miss while the older actors could fill it in and make it work.

100% agreed. They're all asshole oligarchs; Trump does not represent the working man any more than the Dems he bitches about. They're all 1%ers weaponizing us against each other when the vast majority of Americans are pretty centrist and just want decent housing, schooling, and medical. 3 things Trump and Kamala would never do fuckall about because both need those lobbyist dollars. So till that's fixed, I don't give a shit. The only way to beat narcissists at their own games is not to fall for it to begin with. The oligarchs and lobbyists are the problem, not hicks in the countryside or soys in Oregon. And certainly those political shits shouldn't dominate discussions on media. Making everything DailyWire isn't a good idea either; we need less politics not counter-politics.
