Lyrics : The come down is killing me The slow fade, the fast release I know I can't keep this up forever The light burns, please close the shades I'm alright, I can numb the pain I don't want to see the world today I don't want this I can't get out Self loathing's overwhelming Lay me down And lead me into the grey Don't make a sound Just leave me alone in the dark It's aching, my vision's blurred I'm lonely, it's what I deserve How long can I keep this up? The silence is deafening The demons I'm harboring Are screaming and I can't pull away I don't want this I can't get out Self loathing's overwhelming Lay me down And lead me into the grey Don't make a sound Just leave me alone in the dark I don't want this I can't get out Self loathing's overwhelming Lay me down And lead me into the grey Don't make a sound Just leave me alone in the dark Leave me alone in the dark Leave me alone in the dark

@SmokeWithMeInCT appreciate it man. I was in a really dark place when I wrote this comment. I’ve since got clean and am heading down the right path. Music is a real motivator for me, and can be for anyone going through tough times.

Wonderful chorus, very harmonious riffs, deep melody, sincere and real lyrics. For me, this song is the essence of Asking Alexandria. It's songs like these that made me like this band so much! Amazing album, by the way.

Okay I love the breakdown thing at 02:00 but I feel so blueballed. I was so ready for danny to do just one proper little low growl there because the song was basically begging for it 😪

I like Asking Alexandria’s newer music better, but even I kind of felt blue balled with the three breakdowns That don’t really happen on this album
@Shinxbi__3 жыл бұрын
@@communism_is_wrong7167 Yeah while I prefer their older stuff I love this album and the self titled. It just feels like they're writing some little sections that sound like they're gonna build up to a one off throwback scream from Danny and then it just ends up really anticlimactic. The biggest offender for this was "in my blood" from lahof.
@Josue-qb7cq3 жыл бұрын
You are not the only one, the band should've let loose on that section, they could've gone back to the chorus and finished off the same way and made a more complete song. It's weird how they themselves didn't notice how anticlimactic that sounds.

It all started in 2007 with The Irony Of Your Perfection (2007) to go on to Stand Up & Scream (2008) away our pain and betrayal a year later. Because of our pain and betrayal we became Reckless & Relentless (2011) and numbed everything out with alcohol, drugs and debauchery but soon to find out that it was only From Death To Destiny (2013) that we were only killing ourselves quickly and needed to catch a fucking breath. In 2016 we emerged ourselves into The Black (2016) and created a void we thought could never be filled until we, at long last, in 2017, became Asking Alexandria (2017). In 2020 we were determined to write about what it was and felt like to be Like A House On Fire (2020) and to be choking on the smoke from the mess we had created about a decade ago. Now, in 2021, surviving from the house we left we have delved deep into the pits of our minds so that you can See What's On The Inside (2021) of the men we have chosen to be and to no longer live in...The Grey.
