I was into Prada and so on especially when I was in Europe for 8 years but they were so uncomfortable to be worn especially the shoes, felt so hard to walk with, even they were thousands of euros pricetag, I didn't buy it but were given for free by friends, corporations, etc. These brands are for mid class wanting approval, real rich will never these overrated average, that's why the marketing is everywhere like peanuts. Even #LouisVuitton is too poor cannot afford real #agarwood, all they have is only fake oud inside their #ombrenomade as real oud cannot be mixed with other ingredients Nothing surprising Europe was and will always be very poor so is their luxury based on their very poor nature.

It's a shame Tristan didn't recognize Gay Talese (1:48), the famous journalist and essayist, who wrote for the New York Times and Esquire Magazine. He also wrote several books. Tristen passed up an opportunity to talk with a great writer who changed the field of journalism. Many people would love to have a conversation with Gay. He's had an amazing life and could talk about way more interesting things than what he bought at Ralph Lauren.

@carlycrays2831 it's not that you don't deserve it. People work hard and deserve nice things but that doesn't mean you should reward yourself because it's out of your budget. You're confusing deserving nice things with being able to afford nice things. If I am a nice person and work super hard but point make $50k a year along with donating my time to the homeless, do I deserve nice things? Sure. Do I deserve to spend more on myself than I should spend? No.

"Be able to afford what you buy, don't use credit cards". Thank you! This is my life motto. Never saw the color of a credit card and I'm glad I was able to stick to this principle. Only get the thing your current bank account can stand. That's why a debit card will always be enough for me.

Credit cards are money makers for me. I not only get money back from every single purchase or service I pay but excellent fraud protection as well. For instance, I bought a boxed mattress just a few months ago which was carelessly left without notice in front of the building where I live, and happened to get stolen. The mattress company refused to reimburse me because according to them, they had “proof” of delivery but I was easily able to get all my money back within days after explaining the situation to my credit card company. Credit cards also offer plenty of 0% loans for a year or year and a half that I usually use on my investment properties. The key is to never carry a balance, and you’ll essentially be paid to use credit cards.
@keithwilcox5478
@keithwilcox5478 Жыл бұрын
good that you avoid debt, but not good general advice. credit cards help you build credit and improve your credit rating which helps you take out loans and borrow from other lenders. also, credit cards have good reward programs usually. just pay them off so you never pay the interest on them.
@kidbrown2010
@kidbrown2010 Жыл бұрын
Exactly. When I was young I also had that uninformed view on credit. Besides rewards (which is basically a discount), credit also offers fraud protection. Got $50 back I spent on a scam FB ad. Money I would have never seen if I paid with my debit card. And with a good credit and therefore good rate.. you also hedge against inflation. If you want to buy a truck and save for 20 years, not only is that 20 years you are driving the bus.. but by then the price might be higher than you would have paid with interest included in those 20 years. Better advice is, don't be an idiot thinking that your credit means free money. You should not buy stuff you can't afford. @@keithwilcox5478

@Skatejock21
@Skatejock21 Жыл бұрын
Still not wise to treat a credit card like a debit card. They are easily abused. They can also cost more then a debit card. You probably have better deals in the USA then what we get in Canada. Our credit cards dont give us things like that. We are the the debit card users in North America. The USA use their credit cards more then debit. Yet our living costs are higher and we pay out of pocket.
@Skatejock21
@Skatejock21 Жыл бұрын
@donk8105 Im not disagreeing with you. I agree to learn how to use a credit card. I am like many. Many have credit cards and pay them off fast. However putting money on a credit card at all, is not your money. Its a form of debt, even if you pay it off. Its good to use one to have good credit. Especially when it comes to purchasing a house or car. However, to have more coming back then what you put in. Im saying that the US is notorious for credit card using and many are in debt as a result. Many canadians also have US credit cards because we travel there so often. We are debit users here more then the US. Its a very american thing to use credit cards. Here we have credit cards where you get nothing back or it takes an incredible amount of use to get anything worthwhile back. To use a debit card though looks better then using credit all the time.

I think whether or not you’d want to spend money on these things depends on your age, personal values & family economic status. I'm a single person, no kids yet, on a 6 figure salary (on the low end), and I wouldn't spend that much, because there's always something else I would prefer to put it towards e.g. a holiday / deposit for a nice house / gift for family members etc. Spending this much money on bags / shoes / clothes doesn't make sense to me, but it might to others depending on their situation.

I agree. But also consider that buying luxury items (not often!) will allow you to be around those with similar tastes. Those people may be making more money than you and now your network is growing with richer people. There's some strategy to it but obv don't buy what you cannot afford

I bought a Ralph Lauren Polo rugby shirt for $13.00 at an outlet store. The other two were $78.00 each, one I gave to my grandson for his birthday. That is it. I am comfortable financially and have no debt, probably because I don't buy these type of items.

This is why people going broke and living paycheck to paycheck. $110k is a very respectable salary. But take out city, state, and federal taxes, and he doesn't have the disposable income to be buying $1500 sneakers responsibly. $3k-$4k for a wallet when you work for the military? $11k jacket when you make at best $90k?!?! GTFO out of here.

I still cant comprehend why people judge others based on their wants and needs- like no one asked for your advice ma'am/sir. If you dont want to buy a 3000$ bag then dont, if people have money to buy it then let them buy it. Period. One of the commenters said that its not ALL THE TIME they splurge on spending a lot for one thing, some people can save for months even years for a thing they want and i dont really care bc thats their OWN money. Its their own taste and luxury- i see people who also have a lot of money but dont want to spend a dime in luxury brands, and thats fine. You do you. Its just confusing why people judge others its not like the money is yours for you to judge their whole personality. I myself believe that i will not put myself in a box, like if i want to conquer the world then i believe i can- and these luxury brands are just small things that i may afford in the future (im still studying law) but nonetheless, if i like it- i will buy it. I will not put myself in a box and have that restricted mentality where 'oooh buying that makes your poor' or 'classless'. Who are you to tell me i dont have class? I can literally be who i want to be and thats none of your business. Ugh. (No offense but some of the people that have this mentality are usually the people who doesnt have a 'class'. Class isnt define by what you wear hun, its just who you are as a person and how you carry yourself.) And also if i may add, some luxury brands are investments. The price gets tripled thru time- you can literally sell it in the near future and earn some investments.
