If you don't have all the ingredients for Aaron's sauce, KZbinr Pickuplimes has a similar tofu recipe. Her sauce is 1 part gochujang, 1 part soy sauce, 1 part rice vinegar, and 2 parts maple syrup! I made it with crispy tofu and green beans 😋 Aaron is much gentler with his tofu squares, though :) I think Claire can taste the love and care in each bite!

oooh. marmite. Thanks for suggestion. I will give that a try!

@@randommusings48 yeah it’s good, just be careful not to use too much Marmite because it’s quite salty and strongly flavoured. I used about half the amount in the recipe.

@NuBNPrince2 жыл бұрын
Just made it and loved it! I made 3 substitutions: 1 - I used Better Than Bouillon Garlic Base instead of chicken bouillon powder for the sauce. 2 - I used brown sugar instrad of white sugar and corn syrup for the sauce. 3 - I overcooked my broccoli in my Instant Pot, but I added diced red bell pepper and zucchini to the tofu and sauce after the thickening step. I also added less gojucharu, since the folks I was cooking for have a lower spice tolerance than I do LOL 10/10, can't wait to make it again!

Looks delicious! I will definitely be trying this very soon because I have a package of tofu in fridge. One of the best ways to prep tofu is to soak it for 5-10 minutes in boiling salted water. It seasons it lightly but most importantly, it gets rid of any taste of the packing liquid it comes in. You can then proceed to pressing it, marinating it (after pressing), frying it, or baking it to dry it out/crisp it without adding extra oil.

Just because I'm idly curious and I think about all kinds of options to things... could the tofu be cooked in the air fryer instead of pan fried, to get a somewhat similar texture? I'm still learning the limitations of the air fryer (and I totally blame you for the fact that I bought one, the air fryer glazed tofu recipe you have is spectacular. So good!)

Made this for me and my partner last night (with half spice, and maple syrup instead of corn syrup because it's difficult to get that where I'm from) and it was amazing! I've been vegetarian for a while now, but I wasn't always, and I missed making some of the things you show us how to make. I'm so glad there's a tofu recipe I can make now! I just made this for the Lunar New Year and I love how flavorful the gochujang sauce is. I was looking for a recipe to introduce me to Korean cuisine, and I had the gochujang already, so this was perfect. I will be making this recipe again! I love the balance of flavors and textures: sweet spicy soft tofu and toasty sesame with fresh broccoli. And next time, I will perhaps fry my tofu for longer because they were not as crispy as I wanted after I smothered them in the sauce. Advice welcome! Thanks so much for sharing!

Tofu is sort of meant to be bland by itself. In japanese dishes the flavors are often very subtle and there is a huge apprecoation for soft textures. As a typical breakfast food, itkind of makes sekse to have a light start with miso and some tofu , since it's early in the day.
