First name last name I don't see a problem with a woman having ambition. You exchange Restaurants possibiltys, look them up and then decide on one together. If both situations didn't happen like that I would say straight away at entering the Restaurant that it looks like I can't afford it, or at least when I look at the menu. I would then ask if we should go to another place or if it's important for him to eat here. If yes he has to pay if no, we leave.

it’s actually an asian thing, not just a japanese girls thing that women expect men to pay for the meal on a date. women teach other women that, and post date review? It’s a bad date if you had to split the bill or were asked to go dutch. I’m asian and I would go dutch on a date if I can’t wait to ditch him or have no intention of ever having a second date but still want things to end amicably enough. It’s sort of like you won’t want to be treated by people whom you aren’t friends with or expect to be friends with. You can pick up the bill for friends at times and also graciously accept being treated. But your enemy?? Never! I will never let my enemy pay my meal, and to come up on top, I will insist on it race to be the one who foots the bill.
@nigelinoooo5 жыл бұрын
That's like 5 steps ahead of thinking.. I'm not sure if it's an asian thing or not cause I went for dinner with a Japanese, Chinese and a Mongolian. All were quite different with this matter and most of the time I offered to pay most or everything, but they thought differently. Like the Japanese girl insisted to pay but my guess was because she was older than me. The Mongolian asked if we could split the bill so I agreed. The chinese let me pay but she also paid in return for other things to eat. I think every girl is different on this subject but there are still a lot of people like me that think old fashioned and think that the guy should pay. On the other hand it's a good thing that women offer to pay too, most guys really do appreciate it if they at least offer to do so.

I've been on dates with maybe two dozen Japanese girls in my time in Japan. In my experience I find Japanese girls are prone to becoming passive non-persons: there is one girl I have met 5 times and if I'm really honest, couldn't tell you what her personality is beyond "interested". They have nothing going on in their lives, no real passions or interests... they just sort of exist. And this is amplified in a dating scenario where she loses all proactivity on top of having little going on with her (making the dating a dead end). Conversely, I find Japanese girls are interested in guys with "serious" traits like being studious, doing things by the book, or thorough about cleanliness -- things that wouldn't get consideration elsewhere. They are also, by virtue of being more passive, more malleable (open to following and new experiences) and spent relatively less time playing a perfect female character. Their willingness to play conversation catch ball makes them easy to tease, as well. Lastly, they seem to have less conflict within themselves about whether to appear tough or act feminine, which means their needs are communicated more clearly, and thus easier to satisfy. A man can't satisfy a woman who doesn't know what she wants. Edit: One thing I forgot. Japanese women thank you for taking them out after the fact. It seems like a small detail, but to be thanked, even if they aren't interested in a second date is a really thoughtful and respectful thing to do.

Paying for the bill thing: 1) I'm American for context and 2) this is two different instances with different guy friends 1. Asked for a ride in exchange for paying for lunch (it was out of his way) and he wouldn't let me pay or pay him back. 2. Went out with two guy friends and to make things easier, one paid while myself and the other paid him back later. I think it depends on the person, but I feel like the guy paying for the bill is common in many cultures because of cultural history of men being the breadwinners and providers.
@eujihan34555 жыл бұрын
Personally, I believe it is common courtesy for anyone (girls or guys) who asks someone out for dinner or lunch or anything to pay the bills since it was THAT person who interrupted the other person's schedule and budget at the first place. For example, if someone you barely knew of suddenly ask you out or almost pushing you into agreeing to go for dinner with him/her (in order to get to know you), wouldn't it be a common courtesy for him/her to pay for the unplanned dinner? (And I even know some girls who asked guys to eat with them, chose the most expensive thing there and then said that they dont have enough money and then made dumb face and just waited for the guys to pay for everything. Disgusting). And I personally believe that splitting the bills is a common courtesy if both individuals agreed/decided to have dinner/lunch or any event together. (And most girls I knew in real life here around me don't even have such courtesy smh).

The bills thing is kinda complicated. From what i know its because men in Japan get paid more and work more tend to earn higher wages, that's the number one reason, now there are also cultural reasons like playing the nice guy card. In Europe men and women are paid the same for that same job so there isn't much of a discrepancy in income so most women are able to pay their bills and be independent regardless if their date can afford to pay for both. Personally, I prefer to volunteer to pay the bills but i also leave the option for my date to split the bill if she wants. Because some women get offended if men insist on paying the bill too strongly.
@yoi92975 жыл бұрын
I’m sorry, but that’s wrong: in Europe women are payed less than men too... Btw the bill thing is reasonable if we are speaking about adult that have a job, the biggest problem is when student girls want that the man pays (because we both have the same money kinda) To be honest my idea is that the person who has more money (no matter if the man or the woman) pays, simply because he/she can afford it (it’s not a rule though, you do it only if it’s a pleasure for you)
@user-pe2yx9kt4e5 жыл бұрын
Yeah but if a girl has to foot the bill, it’s like she’s cheating in the dating game (trying to earn extra brownie points). It means she’s not good enough or worth the guy’s time for him to pay for her. Time is more important for women bc they have a biological clock, so theoretically each date should count more for her than for a man. (obviously this doesn’t apply to everyone and there are plenty of exceptions, but I just mean in general)
@Buzzramjet5 жыл бұрын
I could never ask a girl to split a bill and never have in my life. Heck even when I was married I always paid. And at one of her jobs she made twice as much as me. TBH, I don't think anyone cares about the actual bill, so much as the attitude around it. Like you said it depens on who ask who or if both kinda agreed to go out together. Me personally will pay the bill only if the girl atleast offered to pay her share. If she offered it to me I will gladly pay for the food, if she doesnt I wont pay for her.
@Halo3ninja285 жыл бұрын
Asking "do you want to spend time together?" isn't the same as "would you like me to pamper you and pay for your meals?" Do you pay for all your friends when you say let's hang out at such and such a place? Your comment is devoid of logic and consistency.

josephskiles No both men and women have to pay equally if you want gender equality
@josephskiles5 жыл бұрын
@@ああ-p2e2i I don't see it as an equality issue I see it more as just another way of showing a person how important they are to me, hell if I ask one of my male friends to dinner I offer to pay as well. Basically I ask them I'm paying, if they ask me they pay or at least offer

I grew up (In the Southern US) with the fact that it is good manners to pay for the girls meal. I always did unless the girl insisted and grasiously complied. If you liked the girl then you should want to; if not, do it out of manners.

@xYonowaaru5 жыл бұрын

I've always find Japanese girls very friendly and interesting. They are always very appreciative of the little things that guys do for them. Some things may not be a very big deal in reality but being appreciated is alwaya welcome. How I wished that our local Singaporean ladies can be like them. I be flying over in Sept (assuming that my tour package does not get screwed up). So really looking forward to seeing the country. Love Japan so much! Ryan from Singapore.

@shehzaanaabdulla30475 жыл бұрын
It's never just about the bill though. Women who get hung up on the bill have an entire icky attitude of entitlement that tinges the entire dating experience. You can go far with that attitude in the west, but what you (and most western women) find is that it has no traction in Japan. Two months is how long you will last before all the positive feedback you are used to receiving dries up entirely and you change your ways. Happens every single time.

Actually, this might sound bad but I have been on dates with about 15-20 Japanese girls and 90% offered to pay their part, one girl told me about ろく / 四 - 6 / 4 ratio so guy pays 60% girl pays 40% which I thought is good idea. I don't mind paying the first date but after that if she 'goes the toilet' I will find a different girl instantly , thats not someone who I want to spend time with (gold digger e.t.c.) If they do that im glad because I don't have to invest much more time finding out if they are the right girl. Usually first dates I do something cheap and easy like cafe anyways. p.s. im from UK and girls here are worse LOL
@shehzaanaabdulla30475 жыл бұрын
My experience in Japan has been pretty similar, with similar numbers, too (and also from the UK). I found some girls were not comfortable with me offering to pay. From talking to friends it seems they are concerned that they would feel I owed them something because I paid. Though, TBH, if I am paying for a girl it is because she earned it, not because I am hoping to get something out of it.
@ANabih-uo3zy5 жыл бұрын
But why 15-20 didn't you find a girl you really liked among them?

I find it interesting that it's 6/4; why come up with that ratio? Lol, sounds random and arbitrary. Although, if the guy is asking the girl out, I can see it being fair. Take Care, With Love Through God and Jesus and The Holy Ghost,
