I think the ones where they said they were 'too caring' and 'too adjusting', it isn't they are being too nice. I totally understand where the girls are coming from because I have had friends like that and it's really frustrating. It gets to a point where the other person has no personality of their own and they just become you. You decide everything until you realize the person was just going along with you because you wanted to. They could be totally unhappy with the situation but they won't say anything. And it's nice to do that once and awhile for someone, but it gets to a point where you really begin to question the person and you feel like you don't really know them. Nobody wants a doormat.

@@chillhomie7 Actually you are right about that, at least for a lot of Japanese women. American women are totally different. When I was living in the US and dated girls, they were very pushy, independent, highly opinionated, and seemed to want to decide on everything we did in the relationship. They liked to be the one in charge. When I moved to Japan I noticed that Japanese people in general were more passive and reserved. A lot of the Japanese women I have met and talked to said that they preferred men that would kind of take the lead in the relationship. They usually said they liked when men would plan dates and chose what they did together. A lot of Japanese women said that they kind of want the stereotypical 'knight in shining armor'. The kind of guy that is protective and has a strong personality. When I started dating my girlfriend in Japan she always seemed to expect me to give my opinion and take the lead. Of course not all Japanese women are like that and not all American women are like that either.

I recently broke up with a Japanese boyfriend. (PS. I know not all JP guys are like this.) He never gave a clear response or concrete opinons, it was always really loose comments and vague answers to everything. No communication was formed in arguments, he'd apologize profusely and I'd feel guilty and just forgive and forget. Its not good to be 'too adjusting', and 'too caring' is pretty much an excuse. After a certain incident, where I did something wrong, which I wasn't aware of (as he didnt let me know, and just ignored me). He cheated on me. Then said it was because he didnt want to hurt my feelings so he just never talked to me again...(???) Thats not how caring works. Have opinons. Dont just be a Yes Man. Its not attractive, its not caring. Its just lazy. And communicate ^^

Yes. I also have a Japanese boyfriend, and we message like 1 or 2 times a week, sometimes only on weekends. First it gets me frustrated, but I understand it better as time goes. I'm also in Japan and I can see that people here are too busy, especially with long hours of work. And I also took a while to reply.
