Fisker Ocean One owner here - I disabled LDW before I started my trip from Manhattan Beach back to the Bay Area without any issues. As far as charge rate, I was able to hit a peak of ~170kwh at a Level 3 EVGO. Also, I was told Apple Car Play was on the roadmap and one pedal driving would be out before the year is over. The front seats are incredibly comfortable. I'm 6 feet and 175 lbs. So maybe they just aren't comfortable for your body type? The car is by no means perfect, but some of your negatives seem petty? Granted, I am coming from an i3s to this, so I am someone who is comfortable with a "less premium" interior (if you consider using more sustainably focused materials somehow inferior, there are plenty of options on the market.) Having to disable the parking brake? You know you can just put it into gear and hit the accelerator and the brake will release automatically, right? Because - it does. If people want an honest review of the car - from a car guy - hit me up. This review was...disappointing. Happy to answer any questions people have, and not all that interested in "reviews" from people who cannot spell, as you pointed out in your video. Lastly, anyone comparing this to the build quality of a Tesla and finding it inferior...is hysterically off-target.

Hi, I took delivery of my Ocean One 3 days ago in Oslo, Norway. I sold my 8 month old Model Y LR ten days ago and I very pleased with the change to the Ocean One. The ride quality is wonderful, the build quality is good and I the interior is OK - in my view better that that of the Model Y. The User Interface in my mind is easy and I like the fact that plenty of controls are where they should be i.e. on knobs, easy accesible pads and wheels, on the steering wheel. I do not agree with your criticism about the steering wheel - im my view it looks and feels good, easily adjustable. Agree that several functionalities should be in place by now, however the basics are in place although the lack of a creep or hold function longer than 2 seconds should be available asap. The sturdiness, insulation and ride quality is way superior of the Model Y. I am OK with getting the winter package in Q4 - prefrably before skiing season starts in December 😅

Thank you for a comprehensively sharing your first-hand experience with the car, and for getting answers to our questions. I find this really helpful to a lot of fence-sitters on this car, including me. We are all witnessing a product in its infancy. Fifteen years ago, many doubted if Tesla would even make it. Now, it is the car that all EVs are measured with. Progression takes time, and I am one of those in the wait-and-see group. My realistic expectation for Fisker is 5yrs before they come out with a car that checks plenty more boxes for everyone, and become the EV benchmark. My reservation is still in since it does not hurt to keep it in place. If in the next few months I'll be asked to make a deposit, it shouldn't be a difficult decision. Thank you for what you do. As usual, your coverage of the Fisker Ocean is the best out there- honest, comprehensive, detailed and unbiased. I think we call that true automative journalism! I'm curious though with all you said whether if you had the option to cancel your Sport trim and get a full refund, would you after your test drive? Do you think this car once all the software is finished will truly be competitive with Tesla's Model Y with its shortcomings that cannot fixed with an OTA update and hefty price tag- no frunk, no adjustable suspension, slower charging speeds, no floor mats included, etc.? I mean, I would not exactly call the interior of any Tesla premium. But does the Ocean have Tesla beat on its seat materials? Ocean dash and door trim does look plastic fantastic. Thanks for always doing your research and not just accepting everything at face value.

Adam, thank you. I thoroughly appreciated the breadth and depth of your review. I may have come to a different conclusion despite locking an Ultra build with a $1k sunk cost as the Y Juniper is on the horizon along with other compelling EVs in 2024. If Fisker had started making deliveries last December, with a real SOP of November 2022, I feel confident this vehicle would be in a more competitive position at this point in 2023, but that just isn’t the case. Oh! I wish I could post a screenshot here but Fisker has given someone an answer that, for the Ultra and Sport trims, the Fi Pilot and Ultimate packages will be subscription-only when they return and pricing is set to be announced later this fall. To have basic features like ACC and lane centering locked behind an indefinite paywall, this can really add to the total cost of ownership and, like other areas you’ve touched on, detracts from the competitive positioning against other current EV options where these are standard. I hope this helps and thank you again! 🤙🏻

I spent over an hour at the Boston event and I no longer want my Extreme. Natasha Fisker, Henrik's daughter was at the event and I politely told both her and other staff that I was unhappy with the car and I wanted to cancel. I sent an email to Fisker requesting cancelation and a deposit refund. The vehicle is unfinished and it is using a very slow charging standard from 2012. I feel deceived and lied to from the company and CEO who has stated multiple times that the Ocean will have the newest technology. 32A charging is what's used on the outgoing Nissan Leaf and almost all 2023 EV's can charge at 48A to 80A.

First thank you for your videos. Some of you analysis is fair. However , I drive an Audi Q5 and my brother has a 2021 Model Y. I also test drove the Ocean down in Ft Lauderdale , as far as quality I felt it was as same as the Audi if not better. Ride quality was excellent also. The car felt very very premium , unlike Teslas. This was also not a full production car which was even more impressive. As far as software , it surprises me that you seem not to know that is so much better already with the provided updates. Of course is a long way off but it will get there , just like Tesla did , Rivian is trying , Lucid , and other. So in my opinion , Fisker is still the ev to get. By the way. As always, another fantastic review, and why this is my favorite channel to follow regarding Fisker news. I did the test drive in NJ and I'm sticking with my Ultra order. To your point, we have a Sienna minivan for longer hauls, and our daily commuter is a 2012 Toyota Prius Plug In. The Fisker is going to become our daily driver and is not intended to be the family hauler for longer trips. It has enough of the features that I like and knowing that many of the issues can be resolved via OTA updates (when that comes) is fine with me. I am glad that I will be on the later end of deliveries knowing that a lot of kinks should be resolved by then. I thought the ride was enjoyable and comfortable. I did the Winter Package upgrade and the 22 inch tires when they went on sale. For me, I think this will be a good car. It looks great, it's unique, and it has what I need it to have. Hey Adam, thanks so much for your review! My family and I are trying to replace our major gas guzzler (a Mercedes gl450) with a decent electric with range and given our heights (we are all pretty tall) we want a decent suv. Based on your review and especially given what we want to replace, I think we are going to wait for another gen of the fisker before considering it. The polestar 3 and Tesla Model X honestly seem like some of the better options out there and even then, there’s still so many issues. However, a gas guzzler in 2023 (especially with the current prediction of a gas hike by early 2024) is no longer a reasonable option. EVs are practical in states like NY with charging overnight now being made free and save so much more money for folks. Stuff like the Cadillac Lyriq, the BMW I3, even the Audi they’re just. There’s issues when you compare it all with a model x (which at least isn’t everywhere). And the polestar is just gorgeous. The EV market is awesome rn with the options (it’s not just Tesla!) but for now, fisker has to work out its issue before it becomes a major competitor in the space especially as the extreme claims to be a luxury car… it’s definitely not.
@Aslash304 Жыл бұрын
I have a lot of respect for the GL class Mercedes. They were the first to do Full size Luxury AWD, and it really shows. I don’t know what your full spectrum of brand preferences is, but I recommend driving the Kia EV9, as it’s just coming to market. It has a sticker of right around $60k, it’s surprisingly well appointed, and it’s brand new, so it will be fairly exclusive for most of 2024. I predict it will be very popular as well, with extremely fast charging, and right around 300 miles of range, lots of room, and 3 rows of comfortable seating. The Volvo EX90 is similar to the Polestar 3 in many ways, but tall people will benefit from the EX90s more SUV-like design. Finally, a real industry secret is the electrified Genesis GV70. Very good looking. Hope this helps. Happy hunting, Cheers!

I test drove the Fisker Ocean Extreme on last Thursday in Los Angeles. I appreciate your review and it was for the most part accurate from my experience. Of course not everything important to any of us is important to all of us. For instance the width of the seats - they seemed fine to me. I test drove it with a friend so I got to sit in the back seat for half of the drive and of course in the drivers seat. So I got to see what it is like in the back and front. I don't own an EV presently so the comments about charging were kind of foreign since I haven't had to charge an EV. I also drove the Fisker on surface streets which is difficult to gauge the real performance especially when you are trying to obey the traffic laws of stop signs, speed limits and not hitting other cars or get hit. But I always find test drives somewhat dicey because of the unfamiliarity of the car. There are so many moving parts while driving that it is hard to get a feel for any car. I have driven thousands upon thousands of miles so I was able to judge some of its power which was fine. I didn't notice a slowness in the software screen but I wasn't looking for slowness. I was disappointed that it didn't as of yet have Apple Play but my cell phone is an Apple so while I prefer it in my car, I could get by. I hope the adaptive driving or driving assist gets upgraded sooner than later. When you mentioned the steering wheel as a problem, I didn't experience that. It seemed fine to me and I held it at 10 and 2. Frankly, I am looking forward to not going to gas stations. Plugging in the car at the end of the day and having it charge all night will give me all the mileage I need for my local driving. If I ever need to drive a very long distance, I can hop into my other gas fueled car. My biggest question here is your conclusion. You mentioned it being a potential great car in 2024. Did you mean because the software updates will most likely be available or because production changes may be coming? I can wait for software improvements. I ordered the Extreme, supposedly delivered by the end of 2023. .

This is a wonderful analysis, thank you for sharing! Yes, I was referring to the software for 2024. Once updates begin, Fisker has an opportunity to streamline, speed up and optimize the software. Tesla is doing a good job on its competitors with their price reductions across their lineup. Ford and GM now decided to build more hybrids since no one is paying for their expensive EVs. Fisker can't hide behind “stainability” using bad low-grade materials. Many auto co are using reclaimed, recycled material that looks great. For $70k +, I can get a model x under 80k with $7500 credit.

Nice job on the video, like you I felt like that big triangle shaped steering wheel was very odd. I was expecting the interiors to feel and look the way they did because of the "sustainable" mindset of the company. All in all I think it's a great car for the way it looks and for someone who's transitioning into the EV space due to it's range and now that they've teamed up with the Tesla charging network.

After so much anticipation and hundreds of videos that I have watched this is the video I have been waiting for. I’m cancelling my order. Cheap materials especially the screen is a no go for me. I’m not buying a car as a statement to anyone. Buying a vehicle for the “wow” factor for mostly the inside of the vehicle. With this review it confirms that Fisker worked on the the beautiful design and did not invest time and energy to ensure that the cabin is worth the price of the car. I’m very appreciative of reviewers like this because when a product is using only marketing virtually versus in person before asking for deposits it really should smell fishy. The one thing I observed was the quality of the materials and this review sums it up for me. As long as I have been waiting for the vehicle Im sad to say that Im going to have to keep waiting. Maybe Lucids SUV will make the market and being higher end.

Great review, objective in all respects. As a Ocean One owner of ten days, I am enthusiastic about the positive points, but the critical ones should have been eliminated prior to launch, and I don’t mean the software, but the basic hardware: 1. the steering is vague, without any feedback, artificial. 2. noise level (from tyres) is too high, 70 dBA at 130 km/h. Even at 80, significant tyre noise. 3. Suspension can be rough on poor surfaces. 4. QUESTION, @aslash304: you drove an Ocean with Sea Salt interior, like mine. Did it have a very noticeable, sweet smell from the Alcantara? All that said, it could be a congenial car if more fine-tuning had been done.

Stellar evaluation! Thanks for making the trip and your continued effort to be optimistic while being objective. I definitely need to schedule my test drive. 2 questions: did a Fisker representative ride with you during the test drive, and what did you think of the black and white interior? 🤨
@Aslash304 Жыл бұрын
Yes, a Fisker representative was in the drivers seat for the test drive. I am very bland with my interior preferences, most likely because of my car detailing experience, so for me, the darker, the better. I think all of the interior choices are solid. If you’re comfortable with the risks that come with a lighter color, I recommend getting it. It always adds curb appeal. My first car had white seats. I loved them. But it was a used car for me, so I didn’t choose them. Let me know if you have any additional questions. Happy to help, Cheers!

Will be interesting to see if the 32A limit in the car is for single phase AC charging only. On my Volvo XC40 it can actually charge at 11Kw (3 phase * 16A) but this is unaffected by the same type of setting. I have it set to 32A even though 11Kw is technically 48A over 3 phases. The Fisker may even be able to do the maximum 22Kw (3 phase * 32A) as many other EVs do. This single phase max 32A setting is normally only there to allow people to limit what they pull at home to ensure they only input what their home solar is capable of producing for example.
@Aslash304 Жыл бұрын
US homes don’t typically have 3 phase supply. Thanks for sharing your insights, Cheers!

@@Aslash304 I know, that’s why I was pointing out how the setting would work here in Europe. The Ocean has been designed very much as a European focused vehicle so would make sense that some features/settings lean this way.

For additional clarity, homes here almost never have 3 phase either. We are all limited to 7.2Kw home charging as regulations don’t allow for a larger than 32 amp single phase circuit. I am referring to public AC 3-phase charging which is very common to find in long stay car parks at 11Kw or 22Kw.

Yeah, it sucks to lose my $5k, but there are far, far too many other options at this price point that offer much better performance, practicality, and actually usable software. Your comment about the 2024 Ocean getting much better is not more than wishful thinking at this point. Great Questions! And the sales ban is just weird. Doesn’t sound very “free market” to me. I do expect the vehicles to improve. I also think what I was driving (the driving was great), and using (software) was not a full production model. The software improvements have been promised, and I believe they will address the software. The interior materials are going to be a personal preference. The "accountant" that was in charge is actual a team of interior designer, the Senior Interior Designer is named Amy Dixon who have previous work Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and "Marline ROGER", she is a young talent, who has previous work as an intern at Renault, Audi and Lynk & Co in Göteborg/Sweden. More staff is the Fisker Interior Designer dept. but these girls have the lead on the design in the cabins. Just remember that the cabin is mostly made from recycle plastic, so yes it does not give what premium feeling visual or by touching the surfaces, but that does tell anything about the actual quality. Then we have 3-year-old car that have done 20,000 miles will tell if there is annoying squeaking/creaking noises that drive you absolutely crazy, or is the coloring fading away?. I am an optimist, but the felt quality experience of the interior design will make more sense in the Ultra and Sport versions than the $70,000 extreme. -The Sport version have a smaller battery package -right? -less weight?= a little more "sharp" handling in turns?, better balanced in turns?

if the software issues are solved and the missing features are implemented as promised over the next while, would you recommend the Extreme as a car to consider buying? or is an Ultra or Sport a better option? It seems a common lament is that the interior does not feel premium, but at the Ultra or Sport level, where a premium interior is not really "expected" how would you feel about the value? Myself, I would be looking at the Ultra or even the Sport version. I don't much care about the premium feel of a cars interior, nor am I willing to pay more for premium materials. I would be interested to hear another review from you after software has been updated/missing features added. Besides software and charging ease, what makes a Tesla a better vehicle? My wife is just not interested in a Tesla as they are literally everywhere where I live. After watching your video it seems you have a "wait and see" verdict. Kind of where I am at, but up in Canada it will be awhile before we can get an Ultra or a Sport so I have time to wait.

thanks for the quick response! I'm a shareholder as well so I am obviously extremely interested in all available information. It seems in so many reviews of vehicles these days that everyone gets so hung up on the software, but for me, the. actual driving quality and comfort are the first big things I look at. Software keeps getting updated. I would have been shocked if Fisker had gotten their software right, right out of the gate. Tesla has been updating their software for years. It seems unrealistic for a new company to get it bang on without growing pains. Do you know if the vehicle you drove was a production vehicle with the latest software or if It was still a pre production model? I don't personally have anything against Tesla (though I find Elon a bit of a shall we say interesting figure) but I would love to buy something else besides a Tesla. I’m extremely sorry to disappoint. I was asked by the Fisker team that they not be identified on camera. That was the reason the information was delivered the way it was. Thanks for your comment, Cheers!

One follow-up, @@Aslash304 Do you have any hope that the actual "feel" and quality of the interior may be improved on the finished sales model cars? You mentioned the vehicle you drove seemed to be something of a hybrid pre-production/demo. I have heard comments from some people, having driven pre-production models before the launch edition, that the materials and quality felt much better than their original experience.
@Aslash304 Жыл бұрын
@@MariettaR i would say hardware wise, this is a complete production model. I think the software could be a “demo” version, only equipped with features that are necessary.

Software should never be criticized this early. That is an easy fix over a short time. Criticism outside of that is understandable.

I’m going to hold on to my reservation for now and wait for the car to get polished to a mirror finish and get a test drive in before i follow through with a purchase…oddly i feel like this may benefit Fisker

I’m waiting on delivery of my Ocean one and recently I had the opportunity to test drive it in Boston. I test drove the extreme trim. I was really excited since this was the time I got to see it in real and realized that they exist and aren’t just digitally generated images and videos. Since I had put down $5000 for a car I had never seen let alone test drive, something no other car maker, EV makers alike (Lucid, Rivian) is asking potential buyers to do, my expectations were really high. The fisker employee who took me for my test drive was very rude. I basically only drove it for 0.5 miles when he asked me to pull over to the side and change. So crappy service already before I even buy the car. Anyway, regarding the test drive as such, First for the good. the carvis nice to drive and also handles uneven road really well with the stiff suspension. Kind of like what you’d expect with an EV these days. So nothing extraordinary. But it ends there. The car as such feels put together. It definitely feels half baked product that’s being launched to meet timeline pressures. The inside of that extreme edition was very poor in quality, made with cheap plastic parts. The huge screen in the middle is out of proportion and long rather than good balanced size. The screen was really unresponsive to touch and had poor resolution like a 10 yr old surface tablet (notice I didn’t even compare it to an iPad because 10 yr ago iPads had Retina display and likely better resolution than the screen in the middle of fisker ocean). I tried to rotate the screen but it kept decreasing the temp in the cabin, so it seems the plastic buttons were mixed up. Very clunky for a test drive model. The whole middle section doesn’t look like it was put together with much design thoughts but rather was put together after looking at what parts might be available for cheap. The seats were comfy but felt cheap. I can understand the sustainability part, but when one’s buying a $70000 car, one atleast expects better cabin materials. There’s plastic everywhere. Even the taco tray is ridiculous when you think of it. How many people actually eat tacos in their cars. Money has been spent on useless gimmicks. There isn’t even ambient lighting or heads up display. No adaptive cruise, which is one of the basic feature available in most EVs these days. No frunk. Why?

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. Greatly appreciated, Cheers!

Fully agree on the taco tray. There's no reason in 2023 to eat in your car. I was honestly thinking about finding away to yank it out. Also I'm curious as to why no glove box? Just why?
@Chigsgp Жыл бұрын
Totally agree. Glove box is more practical than taco tray. I wonder if the design team was 13 yr olds. Some of the most practical aspects of a car are missing. I asked the fisker rep whether I could look what under the hood since frunk wasn’t given. He said we couldn’t open it because he didn’t want anyone filming and uploading it on KZbin. I wasn’t even filming anything. But a bit suspicious. Like other EV makers give frunk since batter is built into the chassis. Why wouldn’t you want more space when frunk is so small

Rivian doesn’t have Apple or android functionality- they have great reviews. Amazon will deliver on software.

Deal breakers. No heat pump, no adaptive cruise control, no one-pedal in the Sport model. I will probably go for a Kia Niro or Hyundai Kona 2024 model. I know they’re smaller cars but I will get what I want for 48000$CAD. I was hoping probably to much of the Ocean and I’m very disappointed.

You don't understand Fisker's interior design philosophy. Inside the vehicle you will find recycled car tyres, PET bottles and other reusable materials. For example, old T-shirts are used in cockpit decor, rubber waste from tire production is used in tailgate protection, and recycled plastic bottles and fishing nets are turned into floor mats and carpets. Hence the model name “Ocean” can be derived. Fisker wants to build one of the most sustainable vehicles.

The Fisker rep certainly earned their wage that day! Thanks for the in-depth and interactive review. Like you, I hope they will sort out many of the software issues early in 2024 - for me it looks even more unusable than the VW interface.

Agreed. When this is a fully functional interface and software suite, I think it will deliver very intuitively. And the reps were wonderful. Really a treat to pick their brains. Thanks for your feedback, Cheers!

I have owned EV's for 10+ years now, a BMW i3 REX and now a Hyundai Kona. I had an Ocean on order and cancelled, not happy with customer service and HF changing the specs etc. Then ordered a BMX ix1, drove it and cancelled the order as it was awful. I ordered a Volvo EX30 on its June launch day, due the end of the year but who knows what might come along! Keep up the good work/channel@@Aslash304

This is an honest review to give honest feedback on things that can be improved. It is a first Gen vehicle. This review in its entirety focuses on both the pros and cons. Compared to the technology that is currently available, this car, to me is like trying to sell a Galaxy phone to an Apple IPhone user. You can not sell a cheap burger to someone who is expecting a filet mignon.

I can live with the “sharp” steering wheel knowing that the majority of interior fabrics/textures are from recycled sources whereas Tesla and VW interiors that feel/look similar are mostly plastic. Hopefully my delivery (2807/5000) is in the next 3 weeks…. BTW, not being able to turn off lane departure is a big MINUS for me- i hate that annoying feature that only belongs in Toyotas whose drivers’ usually need as much assistance as possible..

Well, my question wasn't answered. I guess Fisker didn't want to tell you how much a windshiel replacement costs.
@Aslash304 Жыл бұрын
I asked, no answer. Safelite doesn’t even have Fisker listed as a manufacturer yet. I recently did a windshield replacement for my Tesla Model 3. With camera calibration required, at Safelite, and it was $1450. I would go with that for now. Thank for you comment. I’m extremely sorry to disappoint, Cheers!
