It's weird to think back how quickly online multiplayer came around, fall of 2001 Halo came out and we would all bring our tv/xbox to someone's basement for an entire weekend in highschool. Then Halo 2 in 2004 and we were all playing on Xbox Live. LAN parties were dead, (mostly) for us.

Not exactly sure about when we stopped LAN-Paries, but it has to be after 2006/7 as we played Battlefield2142 on the later ones which released end of 06. Sure Online gaming was getting bigger and connectivity issues less (ever played a fast paced shooter with people who use 56k analogue modems with a playerbase having both europe and us players in the same match?) But we liked the meetups (somehow my social anexty didn't kick in on those events making them one of the few social gatherings i could attend without feeling uncomfortable) and since we had access to the IT-Class room of a local school on weekends/during holidays for our later LANs we usually didn't have to bring Screens and Cables.

We had some school project for making some virtual school walkaround though where i started to rebuilt a part of the school in half-life (with the counterstrike mod) but it was declined for obvious reasons my younger self didn't think of when i showed an early prototype to a teacher. In the end they ended up with a sinple picture slideshow.

This video captures the fact these people just live in different world and I dont want to sound mean there. My parents died during terrorist attack. I had to live on my own since the age of 16, I had to have job on construction site working 12 hours a day 5 days a week while trying to finish my school. I still remember I could not even move my arms and had to take painkillers just so I could work next day. I knew I was fucked because nowadays kids stay with parents to their late 20s so they can save up money to live somewhere etc. I finished my Masters 2 years ago and I was saving money where I could. Gained a lot of experience during the construction work so I built myself a small house, just 4 rooms it was just for me but it was mine and that all that mattered. But I could not find job in the field because its very saturated. So I gained a contract to build a house for my friend. I was happy because I could finaly get some money. I built the house, 2 months after it was finished I was sued.. the guy faked all documents and said I overpriced the house by 700%, his wife is lawyer. I was in a lot of stress and I got seizure from that stress. I was in hospital for 4 months I didnt even know what is my name, didnt know I was sued, there was nobody, no family who could help me. I lost the lawsuit (since I was in hospital ) and I had to sell my house, car and everything I owned to pay for it. I lost everything, I lost 12 years of my life savings and home I built. That family happily lives in that house to this day, for free. I completely paid for everything in that house. Every fucking thing I built there from the foundation to the last tile on the wall in their shower. Then you see someone on stream (the top 1% you talk about ) getting $3000 for farting on stream. I will not name who that streamer is, but when you see this shit happening while your life crumbles under your legs like this and you know you are fucked until you die, it makes you mad. I am personaly not mad about streamers, I am mad because I had nobody helping me while I was dealing with all this shit. I had months where I could only afford to eat once per 3 days, I had days where I had to deal with absolute retards like streamers do. I know there are tons of people who didnt have such traumatic event like me, there are people who were born, got family, saved money, went on vacations.. I am 32 and I never saw SEA in my life. So please be happy for the incredible luck you had to become popular streamer. I would do anything to make at least $100 while not having to deal with any of this shit. Now I work in IT, we are probably getting replaced by Indians since they dont need to be paid at all, or AI. This is what real life is, chaotic moments that make you unconfortable all the time. You never know what is going to happen. I thought I won life when I finished that house just to lose everything in such a small amount of time. Thats what you lack as a big streamer, you have problems in your life but for example what Asmon mentioned that his dads health might get bad etc. everybodys parents might get worse but you can see that he is not really worried. Because he can pay for that healthcare, you can see him ignoring his father sending him home while he visits him. Doesnt even get up to clean the house before his parrents visit him. Huge amount of money just makes your life so much easier and the truth is there is an monopoly on streaming, these people dont have to worry about their lives ever again. Even if you ignore everything I said so far the truth is most people live paycheck by paycheck esp young people. Cost of living is insane. Its not fair to compare my life to these people, its like comparing myself to celebrities like Taylor Swift. Maybe some of you will read this, so you know that people actualy suffer too. Sorry for my bad grammar I learned english from american cartoons and I live in Czech republic ( no its not in russia or India )

Here’s the thing about complaining about your job. You can always complain to your equals. You can sometimes complain upward. But NEVER complain to people below when it comes to income/job difficulty. Every job has problems and everyone has struggles to complain about. But people that have it objectively worse than you (which is going to be 99% of your fan base) are NOT going to want to hear any ounce of complaining from you. Vast majority of them would DIE to be able to sit around playing video games all day and make millions of dollars.

100% agree with Tech and Emi on the streamer thing. There is a huge element of luck to it. It's not just pure hard work/grind or even smarts and grind. I wouldn't want to be a streamer but I'd rather do that than most jobs. Jobs suck. D4 story wasn't bad and the cutscenes were cool. Last Epoch story and cutscenes are terrible. They look like pre-Sora AI video. But Last Epoch is a lot better than d4 imo due to gameplay. Also, I really like the LE graphics and spells. Warlock and Falconer are fun AF

Tectone, you can volunteer a few hours a week at your local, Humane Society. You can ask to be trained to help with the post-op. You help them waking up after surgery, a lot of spades and neuters. I did for a while, it was enjoyable. I am allergic to cats, but man did I love playing with the nice ones, until I couldn't breathe.

For me, I was also an army brat and had to move a lot and I’ll admit that it caused way more harm for me than good. Everyone is different though. I’ve been to three states. Ten schools and twelves homes. It also caused me to be outcasted and bullied in some schools too because being the new kid is not easy if you come in the middle of the school year. Never being able to keep friendships and constantly living with the fear as a kid that you might move again, so why even bother build relationships? Everyone is different again, it was just a very negative experience for me and I wish I would’ve grown up in a smaller town with the same people my whole life because long friendships have always meant more to me than short lived ones.

I think the issue with the whole Hasan and streamer thing is that they complain about how draining it is to do the work but then intentionally force themselves into doing it for long hours when their job has the priviledge of a flexible schedule, they don't need to stream 9 to 5 (the 1% streamers).

You are cluless of their spending habits so at the end of the day they might very well have to to cover fir whatever lifestyle they have. Someone on minimal wage "doesn't have" to work their a** off either, they could live off welfare or be homless in a ditch but if you ask such person they will tell you they have to work as they do.

@@RaynaNox Yes we do, no one is forcing you to meet a quota or else they fire you. This style of work it is entirely optional, same as most independent contractor work. I worked as Personal Trainer for years and more or less chose my own schedule, if I didn't need the money I wouldn't overextend myself time wise and would choose a more comfortable schedule over a more profitable one. The main difference is the ones complaining make so much money that they could walk away for half the year and not even be phase with no risk of losing their assets or homes. Being intentionally dense does no one any favors.

As said, you are only seeing their earnings, you aren't seeing their expenses and you are inserting yourself, your own experience, your own ideas of what is "enough" cash into it. They do not necessarily perceive themselves as such (unless they compare themselves with you, obviously) etc. Bottom point is that you are forcing your own limited perception on them and you are doing it because they are better off than you. It's when you start comparing it to other jobs that other people may get upset if you get it wrong. For example, Dokibird talked about her situation in Nijisanji and most people sympathized with her. Why? Because she's not saying being a Nijisanji liver is worse than any of her viewers' jobs, and she has never even mentioned or made any comparison. If anything, the people who perform some of those jobs know how much Dokibird appreciates them for it.

If you say streaming for 10 hours every day is tiring, people will still say 'try a real job for 10 hrs ' 'imagine getting tired watching videos for 10 hrs' 'ok millionaire, we are tired for 10 hours too in hard labor' No matter what you say, you will always get shit if you talk about streamning in a negative light because people dehumanize streamers and envy them. Dokibird is a completely different situation because she was actively getting harassed to the point where she almost deleted herself and was basically owned by Niji. Thats like comparing a fast food worker that is working for extra cash in high school vs a fast food worker that is working paycheck to paycheck and stuck in that fast food worker line. You can compare jobs, but situation is completely different.

Read the criticism. People are generally complaining because a comparison is being made by a person with a lot of money, but anyone who makes such a comparison will get people upset. These days Nux uploaded a video in which, among other things, he talked about how growing as a content creator may expose you to hate and spoke of his own experience with that. 33 people disliked that video. 33. 3400 likes, 33 dislikes. He said something bad about streaming, but nobody cares, because nobody had their own experiences with life downplayed by him.

You can compare jobs like streaming and service work for examples and find a lot of parallels but people don't want to hear it because streaming makes a lot of money which is irrational thinking. Base of it all is that people feel like streaming is so easy with a ton of money so you should be grateful and don't express negative opinions of it because everyone would want to be in your shoes. Except streaming and cc in general is extremely hard to do otherwise everyone would be a streamer. His main point was streaming is uniquely hard even from large streamers and small streamers have unique hardships. Besides all that, even if you don't directly compare and use other jobs as examples., people are inherently going to compare anyways. If Asmon said streaming is hard because so and so, the viewer will compare streaming and Asmon's hardships to themselves and their job. Thats why he said to never talk about it because it will always spawn a negative result unless something transparently bad happened like in the case of Doki.

You have the privilege to reduce the amount of hours you stream, if it's too socially draining. That fact alone renders every point you make completely moot. And it was one of the 0.1% streamers that complained, so of course we will compare to that. Stop using the other 99.99% as a shield to try and prove your point. After so many hours and several hundred thousand people, and you're still completely stunlocked. Spending all that time talking to a chat on the screen does really put you of touch with the rest of the world, no doubt.

I lived in korea for a few years, and I remember some interesting things about racism like... people crossing the street to avoid us (my fellow foreign friends) sitting everywhere but next to us on busses. Being told we "aren't allowed to dance with the girls" at small clubs being blocked from entering restaurants... You know. The fun stuff. But to be honest, 40-50% of the people in Korea were amazing, friendly, went out of their way to be nice to me and other foreigners, and it was just a great experience, so you know, I don't want to at all bad talk the country. Just it was a bit of a culture shock going from every place is fine, and descrimination is bad, to "no, no... you can't come into this restaurant." Which, my co-worker explained it to me as an issue of "American military men are too roudy, and so businesses don't like them" but.. I was like I'm not military?

I feel you tectone I've had friends/gf's in the past with a similar experience of moving a lot during there youth and not having that group of friends you always grew up with. I've been blessed to have grown up around some pretty great people but there a lot of those friendships that also faded into nothing and are just a memory of the past now. You cant recreate those relationships esxactly but you make new ones that are just as meaningful. :)

Just so people aren't misinformed here. People are upset at Hassan, for saying that "Streaming is more socially draining than a regular job". The key here is MORE than a REAL job. That's where people get pissed off. Because he doesn't understand how socially draining a "REAL" job is. And also, the fact he can turn off his stream if he's "socially drained" and go chill out, whereas if you're a regular worker you have to suck it up and keep going. Tectone's point about only the top streamers making a living is not an argument against what people are saying. No one is saying they just want to be ABLE to stream; obviously anyone can do that. Tectone's point is serving the opposite purpose to what he is trying to claim because people aren't talking about streamers with a couple of viewers that do it as a hobby, they are talking about that tiny percentage of streamers at the top who are also the ones making claims about how difficult it is. He made an objectively false argument by failing to recognize that people were specifically talking about successful streamers so the fact that most streamers are unsuccessful is irrelevant. Furthermore, streamers just don't gain success by "taking on more responsibility and difficulty", they can only be successful if they gain a large enough audience, and luck plays a very large role in that process. There are countless people who try to make a career with streaming and there are no doubt many who don't succeed in spite of being just as hard working and competent as those at the top. Even they understand that luck plays a tremendous role in attaining success in what they do, which is why they always tell people that it's not wise to get into it and expect to have a career.

No one is saying that being successful doesn't involve taking on some kind of responsibility; the point is that such "responsibilities" are a minor price to pay for the success that comes with it. Most popular streamers/youtubers didn't even gain their initial success on purpose, they simply did it because it was something they liked to do until it started to become a viable source of income. There are countless people who would be happy to take on such responsibility, but that willingness or even ability is NOT what makes a streamer successful. Luck is the #1 factor in achieving success in such a profession. People who COULD be successful are a-dime-a-dozen on twitch, youtube, etc. Most of them simply never gain the momentum to be successful-- they are literally at the mercy of the platforms' algorithms to even be discovered by most viewers, as well as countless other factors that could prevent an otherwise competent streamer from acquiring an audience.

5:51 - Kind of a dishonest point to make considering that simply by pressing "live" you can't exactly be a fulltime streamer instead of working a job. We're talking in the context of jobs here, and so therefore it would have to be at least have to come with a somewhat sustainable income, otherwise it's simply a hobby. In fact it's hard to even start streaming, as you'd have to make ridiculous hours to even get to the top percentage, while working a fulltime job at the same time. Only ways to do it is making like 80-90 hours a week which isn't sustainable, be a student so have a lot of free time aka start early, or having enough savings aside to risk it, which would require a lot of sacrifice as well with anything but a guarantuee. When people are referring to "I'd rather be a streamer, it's under the assumption that they'd make the same amount of money they currently do working their "real" job.

idk man, i feel like they're taking hasan words more out of context, than people in the comments, completely ignoring what they're implying if he just said, how draining is for him streaming for 9 hours, noone would care, but he had to compare to other jobs, basically implying it's MORE soul sucking than those jobs, which is not true, because EVERY job, either physical, mental, social or whatever, can be just as or even more soul sucking than streaming, and obviously when you consider tons of perks coming with streaming, that give you a lot of flexibility to lead your life however the hell you want, this statement gets even more ridiculous other thing is, when you like your job and are passionate about it, it shouldn't suck the soul out of you, so maybe he just doesn't like doing it, and shouldn't be streaming, if it drains him so much? about 0,1% streamers tectone is right, but i think in general we're mostly talking here about SUCCESSFUL streamers, he says often people go full in as a streamer without back up plan, that's just dumb and these people shouldn't be taken as an example for this conversation, because it's like a dude without experience, manual skills, school or anything, would start let's say a carpentry business he has no idea how to do it, has absolutely no experience, noone knows him and fails miserably, such people shouldn't be even considered carpenters, similar thing goes for streamers, until you gain a steady viewership and income, you're just not there yet and can't be considered a professional streamer and we're not talking about only millionaires, streamers with small audience even if they make money comparable to regular jobs, have still easier job, because they have a small and loyal fanbase, just chilling there, no stalkers, judgment from thousands and all other downsides of being a streamer, that hasan or anyone involved in this conversation was talking about

I would love to see a lot of these streamers attempt to do the job i had for 8 years doing skilled labor climbing, lifting, and crawling. The problem is Hasan, a top streamer that makes millions of dollars is crying about talking for 9 hours. He has control of his stream. If I was already a .01% streamer, I wouldn't be crying to my viewers. If he's socially drained, guess what? TALK LESS and don't interact with dumb viewers! If a streamer with a low viewer count is crying about how draining it is then I would be like "yeah, you're trying hard to grow your channel but it's not growing. Must be exhausting to grind to grow and maintain your viewer base". Tectone is the one that missed the point lol

I like the challenge you're laying before asmongold techtone. I see what you did there. "lets just test the limits of our bodies". The positivity of your aproach with the 10 minute mile was appreciated. That whole positive vibe you bring the the table is awesome. I don't think you'll motivate him to get into the lifestyle but if you do get him into a routine, that's awesome. 10 minutes is totally doable though even out of shape with his body type just due to the lower mass he needs to move over the distance. Low 5's and upper 4's though is state track competative though if he was able to run that speed and when to a smaller school district.

I used to wash my legs, knees, feet, arms, possibly even the back whenever i took a shower back in the days.. wash my hair twice with shampoo and once with conditioner... i was told i'm weird for doing all that, so i try to do only use soap on the sweaty parts of your body nowdays, and hair only once.. x'D

Working an animal shelter was one of the most soul crushing jobs I'd had. Fulfilling too. But those "no-kill" shelters do it on donations AND by taking the most adoptable animals out of the "kill shelters". They're a necessity though because the pound doesn't get nearly enough money from taxes to actually run effectively. Not enough people get their pets spayed/neutered. Overcrowding is a constant issue. The help and animals is fun. But the dark side is seeing people clearly trying to adopt brood mare's for fighting dogs getting angry with you when they realize they're contractually obligated to get their dog fixed after adoption or criminal charges can be pressed. The volume of people abandoning lifelong pets because "they moved to an apartment that doesn't allow pets". Sentencing loving animals to death because they wouldn't work a few hours of overtime for a slightly better apartment. The spring can get so bad, one instance, at the chesterfield county pound(VA), in a day. In a DAY. 2 vets and 4 vet techs put down 96 dogs. We tried to get those animals adopted for months, so hard. To leave work mentally shattered in tears because people can't be bothered to give a #@$!. Fido doesn't need a wife and kids for him to have a good life. You're sniffing your own farts calling it champagne if you have even the slightest illusion that's the case in the states. Would I take a million dollars to work that job again? yeah. Because of the money. But I think I personally would end up a more bitter person longterm. I ended up blaming people for so much of the ugly in the world after that job.
