I was involved in amateur bodybuilding when I was younger. After shows, we'd get approached by supplements companies offering pretty decent cash if we'd agree to take photos for them as the AFTER photos (with us show-ripped and dehydrated). Then, they'd pay us more money to eat like crap for 3 weeks, lose muscle, and gain fat. Then they'd take the BEFORE photos. I never did it, but knew plenty of people who did. It was all amazingly deceptive.

As an Aussie who understands Rips, the best advice I can give for survival is if your caught in a current that is sucking you out with nothing you can do, instantly stop putting any effort and let it take you out(your body can float with little effort)breathe as much as you can to get the oxygen into you while this is happening, eventually it stops and it will not be as far as you think and then use that saved energy to swim back, this is your only chance of survival in that situation and it's critical you know this. If you can't Swim, don't go to the beach it's as simple as that, the beach requires a skill level of atleast being able to swim otherwise you are risking your life, it's not a pool with controlled conditions.

Also an Australia. Swim sideways while you are being sucked out. This will help get you away from the rip so you can swim back. The point Asmon makes about computer programming is so true and it happens in many, many others jobs or hobbies as well. I've been a musician for a couple of decades and have a degree in music and there are millions of musicians that have never had a hit, that are miles better than any famous musician out there. I've known people throughout my career more talented than you can imagine, who work a 9-5. You have to be lucky to make it in this world and the only thing you can do is roll the dice as much as you can. Unfortunately, most of us will never roll a 6.
@KiraIRL
@KiraIRL 2 ай бұрын
Socioeconomic factors play a bigger role than luck. You have to have the right situation to be able to roll the dice continuously and if you can't, you need a 9-5 aka stability and predictability. If you plan on getting married and having kids, no more rolling the dice. If you're book smart, but not life smart, you'll probably never roll a 6. If you're come from a poor family, you'll probably never roll a 6. If you're first thought when you exit college is "i can't wait to move out of my parents house and be on my own", you're fucked. If you have no people skills, no confidence, obese/unhealthy, poor mindset, no ability to do a 5-9 after your 9-5, you'll never roll a 6. if you can't identify opportunites and immediately act on it, no 6 on that dice. Any number of factors play into being able to roll the dice, or even hitting a 6. For most people, the best they'll ever do is having a 401k retirement account with a couple million at age 70.

I can confirm once you remove social media in your life you become a mystery to people. Can dissapear in plain sight and change yourself into who you want to be without people constantly testing you because they have their own vision of who you are. It's peace. It becomes your life. Not a life for other people. Makes it so you can't be stalked and ruin relationships over others deciding who you are based off an online profile. They have to find out by word of mouth or in person. Always better to be "it's good to see you again" instead of them feeling like "oh god, it's you again I seen your post or picture the other day". Pretty cool.

A few years ago i tried to be popular in a niche internet thing, for a while it was going well, but after two years i just felt horrible. It got so bad that i just forced myself to quit everything, just give up on social media, touch some grass. At first it was hard, i felt i was quitting, but it was the best decision i ever made. At the time i coudn't figure out what was wrong and why i didn't make it big, but now i know exactly why i felt how i did and why i failed. Leaving it all behind, focusing on myself, doing things for myself and not for clicks or other people really turned my life around, and i feel better than ever now. Modern social media is a scam, these apps where never made for socialising, they where made to keep you busy, and make them money. I just wish more people would see that.

Eh I get your reasoning but for me it was much simpler. To much drama and negativity to look at for no good reason. People unloading their issues online for everyone to read. We all got our own problems, I dont wanna read about yours. And at the time, the woman I was seeing was constantly commenting about my fb activity to the point where I just said screw it and shut it down. That was years ago and she is long gone but I never missed it so it was kind of a blessing in a way. If youre ever on the fence about deleting your account, just do it. You will not regret it.

Same with snapchat and facebook. My twitter is just sports news. Even if I do see any of the posts made by the people in the video, I guess I don't get jealous of random strangers as easily as other people do. Ironically, linkedin is probably the most negative "social media" for me because I can literally see people who did nothing in the same college as me have better jobs which is more of a "nepotism in companies" issue than a "social media sucks" issue.

Weight lifting really doesn't have an end point, its very much a journey where there is always another hill to climb after the last one. New PBs to set, new workouts to try, and always a voice saying "Yeah you're doing good but you're not Mr. Universe Over there." The biggest 'problem' is you need to accept you won't look like Mr. Universe if you're not on a boatload of steroids and HGH, have rolled the 1% genetics lottery, and have an absurdly specialized diet. @@leonkennedy9739 The sad part is that the only reason Homo Sapiens started down this grain filled life is due to severe famines, as we hunted nearly all giant prey items to extinction. We require very high animal fat diets to thrive (a major reason for the extinction of Homo Erectus was the disappearance of their giant prey items, for example). The only good thing to come out of our farming hobby was animal husbandry, which is a major part of why we still are doing sort of ok in general, even after the loss of our giant prey items (though most people aren't doing so great the more time passes and companies try to feed us cheap slop over our natural diet, pushing their products over the health of the population). Edit: Don't listen to idiots that say grains are good for us, they are not due to toxins and they were never a huge part of our diets prior to sedentarisation of our species (as they weren't nutrient dense enough to make up a major part of our diets, meaning our ancestors only ate them out of absolute necessity between hunts, during hunger). This fact has been found in many analysis of corpses, including mummies (found frozen in the alps) that had stomach contents of raw fish/meat found intact (including parasites exclusive to meat eaters). It also explains why some of our ancestors were found having ended up resorting to cannibalism as more and more prey items disappeared from our menu (before sedentarisation). We have always been highly carnivore.

science is also more complicated: it's more complicated to verify and understand. are you gonna read the entire scientific litearture? no. are you gonna listen to a reputable doctor? maybe. what if another reputable doctor disagrees with the first? what if both say they have research to back them up? what then? it's so much more simple to just listen/buy a easily digestible advice that seems to be given from someone who looks like he followed it, has a following, and does it with confidence.

Yeah, it's not easy to verify. But that there is a recipe for following complete loonies and practices that are the opposite of what is legit. Confusion and it being too difficult to figure out what is factual and what is BS, is what these types of people thrive on. It is a not an easy problem to solve. Ends up a matter of luck, whether you get something good or crap. A lot of medical professionals and the like, can't even read research properly and unbiasedly. It's good to be able to determine who is trustworthy and who isn't. Just learning some basics and learning to read some papers, can help in that. Heck, or even just learning logic, allowing you to pick up on fallacious logic (untrustworthy people). Which is everywhere. Would be good if basic logic and beginner formal logic was taught in schools. But then system might collapse, unsound and fallacious logic and thinking is everywhere. You can certainly learn to be pretty good at picking up on who is relatively trustworthy source of info and who isn't. (ofc. you shouldn't completely and blindly trust anyone)

I started the carnivore diet because I was having so many issues with binging, cravings, and anxiety. I PERSONALLY have lost weight, stopped binging, and my anxiety/bad thoughts have decreased significantly. I am a firm believer that diet impacts you because what you eat literally fuels your cells, brain, skin, etc. Your body is constantly absorbing whatever you put in your mouth as an energy source. If you put bad gas in a car, it will not run. Same thing with social media. If all you do is scroll, your brain starts to rewire itself without you realizing. I can't tell you how disconnected I feel from some of my friends because they don't know how to put their phone down and have a conversation. Same thing with dating. You have a whole human in front of you that actually gives a hoot about you, but you obsess over men and women online. You compare your life/relationships with people who get paid to fake it and make everything look pleasing to the eye. In otherwords, not real. crazy. Edit: Sorry for the spelling mistakes 😅 ❤️. His way of eating also helped cure his wife's autoimmune deficiencies. Both stories are well documented over years with lab results to prove it. Actual cuts of meat don't give you diarrhea on their own (also reduce your water intake a bit, as meat hydrates a lot more than anything else. Too much water will make you have the shits on this diet). Hope this helps. P.S- If you're like me and dislike liver a lot, chop it into tiny pieces and take the pieces like pills every few days. Yes, people tend to overlook this. The so called "unrealistic" female body image, is actually quite realistic. On the other hand, the male ones, tend to be extremely unrealistic. Outside of steroids, a lot of hard work, dehydration, very unhealthy things that cannot be sustained for an extended period of time. (and on top of all that add perfect angles and lighting that amplify it heavily) The female ones, tend to be achievable merely by not overeating, and doing some light workouts regularly, Like 3-4 times a week. In many cases, even just having a healthy diet can be enough, or healthy diet+moderately active lifestyle. Don't even have to work out, at all. See a lot of models on the big fashion channels that aren't anything special in terms of body. Plenty of average to below average(and some more impressive ones here and there ofc.).

I've been doing what I've been told never to do: "Do your own research" and the things I find around diets is quite fascinating, mainly the stuff about neurological disorders and seizures; of how they can clear up if the person is fasting, and how they return when they start eating again. That the keto diet was originally designed to treat seizures. Course then that led me to the concept of elimination diets and the concept that a lot of foods actually cause low level inflammation in people and that the root cause of so many diseases today is due to chronic inflammation. That rabbit hole just kept sending me the same message over and over: The 'experts' have repeatedly told people to eat things that actually degrade their health, and repeatedly demonized things that are actually required for optimal health. That ad the end of the day the food pyramid is upside down, and 'calories in, calories out' is a blatant lie.

The female "ideal" body standard is achieved by doing butt and leg exercises and not overeating. If you have a tiny bit of fat on you, that's typically a plus even. The male "ideal" body standard is achieved by doing butt and leg exercises, ab exercises, arm exercises, shoulder and neck exercises, back exercises, chest exercises and not overeating, but also be on a hard to maintain low body fat % so your muscles actually can show. Oh, and you got to do PED's, since what you see on the screen and on magazine covers are unattainable with workouts alone. Most guys want to be unrealistically muscular. They don't want to be fat. They don't want to be skinny. Most guys want to attain that unattainable physique, unattainable unless they start using drugs that's bad for you. Doesn't matter how genetically gifted you are. But nearly nobody want to talk about how men have issues with their own body image as well and how the standards are so obscenely unattainable in comparison to say the "problematic" female body ideal which is simply being lean and doing a bit of squats, lunges and various leg raisers with resistance bands to tone the bum and get support from the thighs. It's not even close.

My current employer gave me a shot a role as an analyst programmer / project manager despite my lack of I.T. qualifications from uni because I proved myself at that point and now I'm managing and building governmental systems and more. I agree that both genders are influenced by unrealistic body images, but I think the key difference is the mental response to those influences. Women are more likely to get depressed and focus on unhealthy eating habits. If they are smart enough to pick out the "cheating" methods they'll write off all healthy bodies as unrealistic, throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Men just start going to the gym more and are also more discerning of natural/unnatural bodies. Some may try steroids but I think it's more common to just think "I'm gonna get bigger but not that big". The biggest difference in "expectations" though too is that ideal male bodies are exaggerations of healthy shapes and ideal female bodies are more focused on youth than fitness. You're spot on w/ your Software Engineer analogy. I've been doing enterprise software dev for 10 years now, one of the best Architects I ever worked with never got a degree - just a shit ton of certifications. It's a matter of odds though, that guy stood out because he was an exception. People CAN do it very well, but just like streaming, if you don't put in the work to understand the fundamentals first, it can cause nightmare issues for other people after they've come and implemented some hackey solution.

I really like it how influencers do this, especially about workout, when their days look like this: wake up, work out for 2 hours. Thats it. Thats literally it, yes this is their day. Lifting is piss fucking easy, if you are consistent, but now lets take a look how the guy's day looks like, the message is oriented to, who is not in part of the cabal, aka YOU. Wake up, take a forced crap, forcefeed yourself, while your stomach and intensites grumble, protesting. Stuff down heavy carbs to get some form of motor function activating. Oh you skipped breakfast? Haha thats not an option if you want to function. Drink coffee, which you don't even like, but you are addicted, and its necessary to keep you awake. On the side note: unhealthy food is literally cheaper than the healthy. There is a reason why extremely sugary carb things are dirt cheap, while actual healthy food has an untinteresting bland label, and its usually overpriced too. Now drive to your job (1+ hour) do something you hate, worry about bills, and loans, you are like 2-3 paychecks away being to 0 on your bank account. If you are over 30, then worry about medical problems too, there is a chance you won't be able to do your job in 5 years, relationships, drink your second coffee at work, come home either tired or agitated or both around 7 Pm, worry about the company hiring someone who works less for them, because no one gives a shit about quality anymore, prepare for next day, take shower etc, its now 8pm. You have approx 2 hours to work out before bed and you didn't even have leisure time, and I didn't even mention depression creeping in, which is the absolute biggest enemy of being consistent in something. I didn't even mention how women don't pay you attention because "all you do is work" and you are not "fun enough". You are not on the same planet as they are, and don't ever let anyone say otherwise. They are not relateable at all, as they try to sell you a biproduct of milk, which is more or less industrial waste, but with 3x times the price, because of the fancy label. The problem is they can do this because YOU pay them attention. Remember: the only way to win at the game is not playing it.

I agree with your overall point, but you can just eat in the way that billions of people in the East have eaten for centuries. Which is to say: lots of white rice (very cheap, and pretty convenient if you buy a rice cooker), some fruit, and relatively small amounts of animal products and vegetables. Just at people in the East if you want to know if that leads to weight loss and longevity.

I don't think it's just body image problems. I also think that men are in dire need of an objective/goal that isn't a relationship so that they can have something that makes them happy. Especially guys underestimate how appealing kindness and determination can be XD Let alone that just doing that to attract a mate is gonna lead you a miserable life, because you put a goal onto something that you have no control over. I find men beautiful that are driven and treat their surroundings with kindness and support while having the guts to defend what is dear to them. those kinda guys are a 10/10 for me. nice looks are just a cherry on top

The problem with Kindness is that such behaviour is being actively punished when exhibited by men... The whole "Nice Guy" thing, it's used to describe assholes sure, but way more genuinely kind people get wrapped up with that label instead. . As for determination and purpose..... most of those things don't really exist in this society anymore, at least not in ways that can be visually measured. Most of the people in the modern world are going to live and die in the rat race, with passions that while amusing are ultimate pointless (and I don't care how many people say otherwise, no girl will find your handpainted 40k army cool). The sort of people that have the drive or ability to succeed or find a true purpose (like being promoted to high positions, running a business or working in an ngo or something) don't have the time to afford relationships in the first place . As for defending what they hold dear? We live in the time period where a robber/criminal/rapist can break into your home in the middle of the night, get shot by you while you follow all laws amd regulations.....and you'll still be arrested if he dies, or he can sue you if he lives. Heroics of any kind are severely punished, look at heklholes like NYC to see what would happen to the rest of west in a while. . I do agree with your point by the way........ .... I'm just lamenting because the only reason you even have to state it is because the importance of those qualities have been stamped out by the current environment.
@FeldiArts

@@jasonfurumetarualkemisto5917Yeah I kinda see how much it sucks and ngl. genuine kindness gets confused as niceness for a reward (the latter being the actual "Nice guy" that no one wants around). Best thing we can do is setting an example of genuine virtues and blocking out the people who use virtues to inflate themselves. Kindness also has a second perk: you don't have to stay nice when someone treats you like shit. much better than just being nice because being nice often means that you don't allow yourself to have healthy boundaries. which at this day and age is crucial for survival on a mental level.

So wait, insulin has no relation to gaining weight? Why did I lose weight the momsnt I stopped eating so many carbs and replaced it with meat products and eggs? So correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've heard this is what happens: - Body goees after carbs as fuel first, so as long as you keep eating things with sugar and spiking your insulin, your body won't go after the fat and this is why high meat diets work for losing fat cos with less sugar the body needs to go for fat reserves.

Insulin definitely has a major relation to weight. I'm a bodybuilder and have used insulin in the past preworkout with a high carb meal, followed by a high protein meal afterwards. Insulin transports the nutrients to where they need to go - it will also remove the sugar from your blood and if you're not using it for energy, it will be stored as fat. For an average person, an insulin spike is very undesirable as it will just force your body to store fat

I'm guessing your overall daily calories went down a lot cutting out carbs, most high carb crappy foods have way more calories than meat and eggs. A lot of special diets that somewhat work actually work by just getting you to eat less calories, like intermittent fasting for example where short eating windows tend to result in you just eating less, or other diets with limited food groups that get you to cut out high calorie crappy food
@lightworker2956
@lightworker2956 2 ай бұрын
Well, what's optimal for your body is very-high-carbs, low-fat (think 10 - 15g of fat for the entire day), low-protein. Basically, the Eastern diet: huge amounts of white rice and fruit, relatively small amount of animal products as compared to the West. Just look at people in the East, and notice how they're much thinner and have much less heart disease than Westerners. It's just that no one makes a profit if people eat lots of rice, because it's so cheap and plentiful, hence that diet isn't being promoted. Most Westerners eat high-carbs (which is fine), but also high-sugar and high-fat and lots of processed crap. And so they gain weight. I've done high-carbs, low-fat; low-carbs, high-fat; and high-carbs high-fat. For me the best option by far is high-carbs low-fat (much lower fat than most people do). For me personally, I imagine that I don't lose a lot of weight during the 12h I'm awake and eating lots of carbs, but I don't eat from about 7pm to 7am and I imagine that my weight loss comes from that period. In any case, I'm losing weight and feel great. However, if you eat low carbs and very high fat / protein, then you force your body into its backup power system where it burns fat for energy. Which, yeah, leads to weight loss. But you are running your body on its backup power system, and this can lead to health problems down the line. It's better than the standard American diet, but worse than very high carbs low-fat.

You seem to look at health care professionals/institutions differently from other topics thinking they have your best interests in mind. If there is one thing I have learned after being a nurse for a decade, health care is just as much a business and profit driven as AAA gaming studios. Stay alert.
