I always felt a strong need to protect my inner child, but without naming it as such. Now as an adult I think this is what kept me sane for so long, the feeling of constantly protect and defend myself from any demon or situation, making sure "tiny me" was safe. Also I don't know why I felt the need to protect my inner child, it just felt right
