I find it odd that YI TI is so tiny compared to Westeros. some how from it's description (which is obviously based on historic China) it seems like it should be at least the size of Westeros if not bigger. it supposed to be an empire with a thousand gods, while Westeros is a rural kingdom with very few cities and towns for such such a huge land mass. hack the entirety of westerous is small compared to Westeros. if Westeros is basically scaled us British Isles, it got sub-Tropical desert and arctic tundra in the north, so it's scaled up allot, at least to the length of the US, if not more...and how many major cities Westeros got? five big cities and no more the a hundred towns as far as i know. that sounds very sparsely populated US length continent. even real historical; England was more densely populated then that In comparison, the continent of Essos is the Song of Fire and Ices version of Eurasia, the real world's biggest continent. for YI TI to have so many cultures and so many gods in such a small piece of land, it would to be extremely densely populated,maybe more then modern day china and India are... unless every person has his own god, but if every religion has a thousand adherents, which is not allot for a religion, you have a million people in a land that doesn't seem to be any bigger then the crown lands... while real world UK could probably fit allot of times in China. I know it's a fantasy and all, but something about the sizes in the world of Fire and Ice just seems off.

Gad Yariv George rr Martin is a bit biased
@deboymetdestijleo8 жыл бұрын
Gad Yariv i agree with what you are saying, though the realm of Yi Ti is in fact bigger than shown here. In the past is was even bigger still. you can get a better picture of it if you look up the 5 forts of yi ti. those are set on the boundary. besides all this they are in an endless war with a nomadic People habitating the dry sea plus lands surounding it. prob bigger than current yi ti nowadays. If you read the world of ice and fire you will get a fascinating story about that war and like i said a better picture of the realm and its shifting borders! PS: those nomadic people are clearly representing the mongols imo
@ma1ist8 жыл бұрын
you have to remember that all this information is written by actual characters from the lore and not specifically grrm. if that makes any sense. so I'm sure given just how few actually even travel there and the fewer that ever make it back to ink down their observations we don't know how much of this is actually true. for all we know, yi ti might be a fragment of its former self or might not even exist in this form anymore. if it truly is a parallel to the far east then it stands to reason that yi ti is not a power it once was. we know that as western civilization picked up in the 12-13th centuries, China was moving more inwards. so could be the same deal here.
@DaglasVegas8 жыл бұрын
that doesn't account to the small size, even extended all the way to the five forts it's small in compression to westeros... westeros is a backward rural feudal society, it was be impossible for such a society to control such a huge land mass under a single monarchy, that why there was never a single ruler of Europe in reality, according to the verity of geographic climates found on westerous it must be bigger then Europe. the closest to a monarch of Europe where the Habsburg Dynasty, and even they just rules several counties and not an entire continent. here, i made the map in the video more realistically proportioned: i.imgsafe.org/756b604aa3.jpg that's not how the world of fire and ice look, but that would be more realistic...
@jaimelannister27448 жыл бұрын
Gad Yariv That's why the Lord Paramounts have so much power in Westeros. They pretty much act as kings in their regions, because the king can't control all of Westeros. And yes, Westeros is based on Europe in the Middle Age and Yi Ti is probably based on China, but that doesn't mean it has to be exactly like that.

I’m still confused is the jade sea south of Yi Ti or is it west to the bone mountains in that one weird circle sea shape? I’m always seeing maps that show the two and I want to know which is the (current) correct version
@CivilizationEx6 жыл бұрын
For the books it is south of Yi Ti, the one in this map is correct, but for the Show it is the weird circle one you see in other maps, which is an earlier version of the map for this world which was updated for the books.

+rafeyboy20 You really should read them man. I haven't read a fucking book series since harry potter when i was 12 (26 now), and i couldn't put these down. They're incredible. Obviously i can't recommend them enough, haha
@Coys3198 жыл бұрын
Dennis James yeah man I want to read it but I just don't enjoy reading, but ASOIAF interests me so much I might have to make an exception
@dennisjames83568 жыл бұрын
rafeyboy20 I was in the same exact boat man. Sports pages and some articles online were the extent of my reading for a very, very, long time. ASOIAF changed all of that. After i got caught up w the show after season 4 i just needed more. And now im just fiending for the next one like everyone else. If you're into the show, just imagine 10x the detail and background , double the characters, and even more insight into the characters you already love. It's a pretty large task (almost 2 million words i think). But between downtime at work and before bed i chipped away at it for around 3-4 months i think before i finished ADWD. Anyway, im done preaching, i dont mean to. Just can't stress enough how good they are. But if you have any interest in them, i'd say you'd be doing yourself a favor by at least reading book 1 and seeing how u feel about it. if you do choose to, i hope u enjoy

Why didn't Valyrian conquer Yi Ti
@rogueascendant66115 жыл бұрын
I think that either they have no interest beyond the Bone Mountains or even they can never outmatched the aged old long standing Golden Empire of Yi Ti before they even came with dragons as their arsenal. They could have sufficient advanced anti-dragon defense weapons. If Yi Ti is based of Ancient China, then you have to know that ancient China was one hell of a nation with a lot of mechanics technology including the invention of gunpowder. Who goes not to say Yi Ti developed their own personal anti-dragon armaments. They could have great minds that created the art of war after the Long Night. Strategic minds that would not bend easily against the might of overgrown lizards.
