I have been tightening case halves and gotten them to bind up before..... it happens. We were putting together my 1776 used and didnt clean the main caps quite good enough and it started to bind when tightening the center main. Took it back apart and cleaned the bearing surface a bit better and wala...tightened up just fine. used parts clean up rebuild. ( all new but sitting for several years)

We put sealer on the 12mm case half nut washers because occasionally they leak from the shuffle pins. Probably wont leak but sometimes they do because there are no orings. I really dont think it should matter though.

KZbin needs some engine Building videos showing all the little important things like measuring clearances, proper rocker geometry, porting things like oil pump and misaligned oil holes for bearings, checking distributer drive shaft not just throwing in two shims, making sure all four decks and ccs are equal ,all the little important stuff that is part of engine building not just assembly. Not knocking you at all just pointing out that there’s just not enough detail available online for newbies to stay out of trouble on their builds

FYI VWJawBreaker has vids on all of that stuff. Check it out!

you build great race engines. George my buddy The Davis crew does stuff pretty similar. Lap new heads and such. Because they are running a pass and might not have time to actually break in.

What grit stones do you use when honing your cylinders?
@kohanzr130810 ай бұрын
Question. How do you exactly use racing long head pistons? Are you shaving the bottom of the cylinder or boring the case. Good friend can’t find any info on it

Hi Darrin....off topic but thought I might catch you here... hey do you think the 40 horse valves need to be adjusted different clearance than the other engines or should they be done at 005 or 006 like the other engines ? Thanx !

Welcome. I would really like to build a motor for Pete. Told him I would assemble it for free just to send me his motor and he could buy the parts Pete is a legend and got me started on KZbin years ago
