It’s so crazy how many people are insistent on petting my dogs when they turn away from them. Also, question….Zoey will let people pet her and be fine then all of a sudden start barking at them. It’s happened twice, so random.

The response you describe from Zoey is indicative of a nervousness with the person petting her then she gets uncomfortable and wants space so she tries to communicate that by barking at them, socialization over time can help with this

This video was very helpful for me as a cat person. I was on my bike and came upon a pack of four loose dogs and turned down a side street to cycle away as quickly as I could. I would love to see a video for us non-dog owners understand how to deal with neighborhood dogs on leash but especially loose dogs.

You'd allow strangers to give your dog any food? That's a no no for me

Depends on if your dog has any food aggression issues. There is nothing wrong with it, as long as you consent to them giving your dog the food. Unless you just want your dog to be dependent only on you for food.

It was not specifically elaborated on in the video so we apologize for not being clear. Chris means if you are out socializing or walking your dog and have your training rewards with you (we recommend taking a bait bag everywhere you can) then you could ask the stranger if they’d be okay offering food to your dog. You could hand them a few training treat and see if your dog could be interested. If your dog takes the treats, you could try again for an interaction or continue on with your session/walk. If your dog doesn’t seem to be interested, it would be best to not push an interaction. Hope this clarifies!

@@Rem694u2 i just don't want to condition him to think that any stranger is a potential treat bearer
