@@KameTrick quick question. i have a logitech g29 and i am getting more and more into sim racing specifically drifting and some rally here and there. i don’t like the sounds of the gears fighting each other and the sounds that come from inside the wheel and the force feedback kicks in. i am thinking about upgrading the setup from the logitech setup and going to a belt driven setup. do you have any recommendations on belt driven setups?

@@potatolime8351 Thrustmaster's T300RS GT is a belt driven wheelbase (smoother, stronger, more defined ffb) and unlike the regular T300 RS comes with the T3PA Pedal set (3 pedals instead of only 2) so that’s what I’d recommend looking into for a belt drive wheel on a budget. I use no ingame monitor/essentials apps at all, it's probably useful for whenever you're doing tutorials and stuff like that. But for the immersion, i don't like having any apps turned on, as they tend to float around a bit in VR, and can be an distraction. I use the app showing what gear i'm in when i do sequential stuff, but that's it. :) Not a big fan of the Drift Playground track though, i think it's to linear, it's not super technical, and i get bored of it really quick. But it's a good track for people to learn in though, as there's a lot of smooth turns and simple track to learn to begin with. I really enjoy Tamada Sportsland (Mega version that is), as there's a lot of tracks in one, it got everything from super simple tracks, to more techincal tracks. Sportsland Yamanashi is nice, and of course the Ebisu tracks are awesome. There's also some dudes who have made a lot of the popular 90's street drifting/touge tracks as well! Believe it's called "90's Golden Drift Spot Project" or something along those lines. You should also look in to the Drift Workshop cars! :)

Great video, having your pedal inputs there is a big help. I just can't seem to get drifting on a wheel (I have a thrustmaster TMX and 3pa pedals) I also have an old logitech H shifter and a usb handbrake that I made (it's analogue) I can drift great on an xbox controller (even in assetto) but can't seem to translate it to a wheel. (I can race just as well on wheel as on a controller but drifting is really frustrating me.) I can never seem to know when to catch the drift
@KameTrick4 жыл бұрын
MostlyRandom yeah, that’s the challenge. With a controller you can steer lock to lock insanely fast so you never really have to learn what to do. With a wheel, especially a gear or gear-belt hybrid (the TMX) it spins too slowly which makes handling the larger degrees of rotation more difficult. If you were on a pure belt drive it’d be cake once you learn the timing to release and catch the wheel. Working with what you’ve got, try to throw the wheel in the opposite direction as the car starts to transition to help keep you from spinning out. You could also use less angle just before transitioning. Last but not least, give just a touch of brakes when it’s facing straight ahead as it transitions which will keep it from rotating as far and possibly spinning, but that can be a crutch so use it sparingly.

Before judging if something is realistic or not you should really do some research because you'd quickly find out that the Tando buddies cars (aka Tando buses) all have copy paste physics with vastly unrealistic inertia. On facebook and in some of the discords you'll see in a lot of the drift communities the argument comes up a lot but the facts are always drowned out by people who love those cars. I'm not saying there bad cars if your new and just wanna get some doors with your buddies but they make the game more of a simcade then a real sim.
@KameTrick5 жыл бұрын
DeanerBC Gaming I’m trying out a bunch of mods and commenting on each, this was just the first one I did. That said, are you basing that on data/ “on paper” comparisons to how a real S13 should drive? I’m basing my video on the subjective driving feel of driving a sim drift car as compared to driving my real S13 drift car. If you also drive a real drift car and feel the tando buddies cars aren’t even reasonably close I’d be curious about the chassis and mods you’re running since there’s heaps of setups out there😁

DeanerBC Gaming hey cool, we’ve been driving about the same amount of time! My focus has been in Autocross and drifting, but sadly I haven’t been able to get onto a circuit for grip driving (though I’ve drifted on plenty of road courses) Bummed you felt my last comment was passive aggressive, it was coming from a genuine desire to learn and exchange ideas. I do think there’s a lot of nuance to the “realistic drifting feel” topic, from stock cars to full suspension pickup point modifications, which feel pretty different. I don’t mind if we don’t agree on it, but if you have some cars to recommend I try for realistic drifting feel I’d love to add them to my list :)

Layne Wofford it’s called “Drift Playground”, toss that and “Assetto Corsa” into a google search and it should be in the top results 👌🏻

Fanatec CSW 2.5 with an unknown, unmarked 330mm steering wheel. If you search “maziora steering wheel” you can find for sale posts but most of them are from 10+ years ago 🤷🏻♂️

Ed'sGame yeah, you’re right! 😅 I filmed my first couple vids without realizing that my video editors export settings were set up for irl 24p which looks decent for what I usually do but trash for gaming footage🤦🏻♂️ FWIW I fixed it for this video onwards: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYfcpmSsgdF6hZo

Malmsey so true 🤦🏻♂️ I usually record irl stuff where 24fps works well, I just had a dumbass attack when exporting lol I fixed that in this and future vids, look better? kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYfcpmSsgdF6hZo
