4:10 should be "If you have a shotgun and... let's say an L-STAR," oops. A note on "Ras strafe" (7:49): Although Nana asks about ストレイフ here, TLing it as "strafe" wouldn't do - ストレイフ isn't well defined in JP Apex lingo and is up to interpretation, but "strafe" is very well defined in EN FPS lingo (to move sideways), which is a separate thing from the technique that Astel demonstrates. Moreover, what Astel shows isn't in any English Apex movement guides I checked (aceu's, Mokey's, Faide's, and a few others). There were several Japanese movement guides that covered the tech Astel showed, and all of them mentioned in the title or thumbnail "This is what CR pro player Ras does!". While most of the guides didn't give a name to the particular tech Astel showed, one guide called it the "Ras strafe", so I decided to roll with that. - Noodlebrain

@@yametekudasubs clarification for noodle and others: it is in english movement guides actually, it's a movement tech called _momentum shift_ , which similarly to tap-strafing, applies directional inputs in a small window after a jump to change momentum. it fully conserves momentum to about 90 degrees (as opposed to tap-strafing's 180) but the difference is you don't need to face the direction you're turning, meaning you can incorporate it into your regular strafe pattern in a 1v1 encounter, while continuing to shoot. i've seen a few korean players use this, which is probably why japanese people attribute it to ras. actually here's a clip of it in action at around 0:49 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKPVfH9_fsx_Y68 nick mistakenly calls it an airstrafe) you may have seen people turn a 90 degree corner and fly right around it, facing backwards. this is a redirect which also uses momentum shift. this will most likely be used more frequently after tap-strafing gets nerfed, depending on how respawn decides to nerf it.

isn't this basically a short air strafe?

I like how he mentions tap strafing to her when she doesn't even know the hotkey for healing 😂

Tbf, Nana asked 1st... XD And Astel did say some disclaimers that for beginners, she should worry about her aim 1st... 😅

@@syasoyash or else she'll end up like me, wasted months learning strafes (air and tap) that I can do the jump pad redirection but still shoots like a bot 👌👌 Edit: in my defense, I tend to learn on how to get out of unwinnable fights. If my gut tells me that this fight is too one sided, my brain will start analyzing all patterns to get out or run while avoiding damage be it a backdoor, different route or anything just to circle around and reset

Thank you! The advices he gave here are actually very nice and useful for beginners. His advice that instead of worrying about character control, beginners should focus on aim and gunfight first. Don't learn to run before you learnt how to walk. That's actually a very good advice. Thank you for translating!

as someone that knows nothing about apex, I feel like I gained months worth of experience from this video alone, Astel is truly knowledgeable about the game also this collab will probably never happen, but it would be so cool to see him collab with Ayame in apex, since he collabed with her mama here

Thanks for the translation. I did wonder some of the tips Astel gave to Nana-sensei since i also play apex(only on mobile, pc kinda potato). Since the mobile version still on beta, i'm trying to learn most of Astel's moves, decision making till i get that the hang of it. Ngl Apex is a bit more challenging compare to other FPS. CoD Mobile 14 kills is quite average, but in apex means that you're quite op. So yeah gonna improve myself more in the future and let's not forget to cheer nana-sensei so that she can be better in apex too. Fight!!💪💪💪

A lot of the movement tech in Apex is only possible on keyboard and mouse, or if it's doable on controller, is extremely hard to do in comparison. I'd imagine doing those on a mobile touch screen would be really, really hard at best, impossible at worst.

Out of necessity, because KZbin deletes comments from channels with "subs" in their name (even on our own videos). Our most recent community post has more info. - Noodlebrain
