A little story ..... I took my boy to an Aston Martin Dealership ( wont mention it in case they get in bother ) when he was about 8 / 9 years old . He loved Astons (via James Bond !) so , going to see them "close up " was a HUGE part of his birthday treat . My plan was just to walk around showing him close-ups of the cars outside "in the flesh" . Being Britain , five minutes before we arrived , it began to pour down with rain . 😞 .Bless him , that didn't dampen his enthusiasm . We arrived in summer clothing ( mid may ) and began to walk around in the rain . After a while , a salesman came out , with an Aston umbrella up and asked if I needed any help . He seemed genuinely interested in us . I explained it was just a birthday treat ( for my son ) and that I simply couldn't afford to buy . He asked us into the Showroom and very kindly brought us some hot drinks and biscuits . My son's eyes were just hanging out on stalks ( as were his Dad's ) , he just didn't know where to look first . After a while , the salesman came back having got approval from the Dealer Principal and began giving us a tour around A L L 😲 the cars in the showroom , letting Junior sit inside, as well . Honestly , this guy's kindness brought tears to my eyes for the pleasure he was giving my boy . When we came to leave, my son and I both expressed our gratitude , but the chap then iced the cake by giving my son an Aston baseball cap , DVD , and lots of photos / brochures of the cars . Now , that guy didn't earn a cent in commission from us , but in the bigger picture of things , that was probably one of the most important bits of salesmanship he will ever provide in his life..... Sammy is 27 now . He's currently deployed , serving King & Country . We still reminisce fondly of that Birthday . And he STILL keeps all the mementoes safely ! The friendliness of that Saleman will stay with me forever . And it needs to be said that his attitude could go a long , long way if adopted by "lesser" marque's salespeople . That last bit sounded awful , but I'm sure you know what I mean . Thank you for taking the time to read my sermon . And Mat , if you ever read this , please give your lovely four legged friend a big sloppy kiss from me ? ! Love your channel . You seem like a decent human being . A true collectors item .
