This is so stupid though we shouldn’t have to do this, PlayStation and Astro need to get this figured out. It’s been an issue since the pS4 I thought they would have fixed it by now.

I believe the latest driver update for the base unit fixes the issue according to other comments here. I have not tried updating mine yet however 😎👊🏻

If you need help with this in 2024, Astro fixed the thing, you only need to download the Astro software from de Microsoft store in a PC or a laptop, open the program, conect the Base station to the computer in “PC” mode (with the astro in de base, obvioulsy) and upgrade the Astro firmware, it cannot be more simple. Once the upgrade finish, connect the astro to the ps5 Only with that procedure my astro now charge with the PS in rest mode, hope it helps you too.

Thanks mate! The didnt know the difference btw the blue and white cables. I was using a white one to connect the astro to the PS. Just replaced it with a blue one and its working now!

Glad to help! Someone posted recently that astro patch updated the headsets and fixed this issue however i have not tried the patch myself so cannot confirm. 😎👊🏻

I believe there is now a patch on the astro website you can update the base unit with and it fixes the issue. I have not tried it myself but others have commented on it. 😎👊🏻

I don’t know my friend but you could just try an extension lead. That said a few people have commented here saying if you update the base UNIT software it now charges fine without this hardware intervention but i havent tried it do cant confirm it. 😎👊🏻

Appreciate the help but you got ppl wasting their money on this product,I was having the same issue jus now,n I found this one video,to fix it all u have to do it jus press the “game” button an “headphone” button (its in the middle between the EQ button and the power button) do that while the the dock itself is plugged in ur pc an itll reset an turn on,if that doesn’t work hold it for 10 seconds an that’s fully hard reset it an itll work after that,for me I jus had to press them 2 together once

As per video the PS5 is not charging the headphones base unit the wall socket is. Your base unit still needs to plug into the PS5 otherwise you would have no sound or mic my friend…unless you are feeding optical into base unit from tv in which case you would get sound but still no mic without usb into ps5 😎👊🏻

@@connorbrown7621 Pretty sure it only needs to be plugged into one thing. You can plug base unite straight into wall and it will charge im pretty sure. So in your case it should just charge from monitor…IF the monitor is outputting enough power for it. 😎👊🏻

Astro just released a firmware update to fix this problem. I just updated my sons A50's which resolved the problem. A50 Wireless Headset: v39964.43 A50 Base Station: v40372.43

Yes the headset talks to the base unit the base unit is plugged into the ps5 via the Y cable. One part of the Y cable is data only thats how it knows my friend 😎👊🏻

The lights on base station should stay on. Make sure you do a full restart of PS5 after you set it all up too mine didnt work until i restarted the ps5 after setup 😎👊🏻

U don't need an adapter if you're TV has an optical port ..just plug it in the back of base station then to your tv

I just figured out also, you don't need the splitter. Just plug a USB in the back of the astro base station, amd plug the other end into a power strip that also has a USB or USB C type. Turn the PS5 on , amd you are good

When they say PlayStation is better…. You end up having to pull a galaxy brain to have a headset charge. Meanwhile on PC and Xbox you just turn off the damn console.

@@anthonyramos4188 there is no test mode on the astros that I know of. If you plug the astros directly to a rear usb port of the ps5 and put the console in rest mode, they will charge with no issue anymore. Side note* make sure your rest mode settings in the ps5 are set to allow power to be delivered to usb ports for 3 hours. That was you don’t overcharge your headsets.

go into settings, system, power saving, features available in rest mode and then switch supply power to usb ports to ALWAYS instead of a time limit ;)

This doesnt work on PS5. This is a known PS5 issue. The power cuts off on the base unit the second you enter rest mode.

@@joysticksteve that’s actually incorrect. USB ports still provide power in test mode. The problem is they don’t supply enough power for the base station to charge the a50’s. If you plug the a50’s headset unit straight in to a usb cable connected to the ps5 they will charge. But obviously we don’t want to do that when we have a nice base station. Controllers also charge while in test mode. Great video I will but the adapter you showed.

Yes my friend its a known issue that rest mode is not outputting enough power but neither company is taking responsibility. Fine on series x version and ps4 but PS5 no power in rest mode sadly even when you set it to ouput in rest mode. At least there is a fix in the cable it was only a few pounds 😎👊🏻

No. The Astro base station has a Charge port. You could put a USB to USB main cable in there and then power it from that. It still has to be from a different USB port to the one on the PS5 though

@@BeardedScotsman86 there is a Reddit post where an Astro representative directly says you should not do this as it can damage the base station. Not my words but theirs. Person said that port was meant to out out power not receive power. Basically for a plug and play thing.
