It's not the most competitive year, but I don't think this lands top 3, maybe top 5; mainly due to the animation, scenery and music... The gameplay is nothing super impressive, nor is the challenge. The "story" maybe resonates with somebody younger than 8. It's very cheeky. This is like a 3D Little Big Planet, but Little Big Planet 1 and 2 had more charm than this in my eyes.

It's not gamers who spam hate at games they don't like, it's this new generation of wannabe gamers who essentially have a social life and cosplay as gamers on their downtime. I am more excited about the haptics and integration of dual sense controller for this game. For me the Ps5 demo game is the only which successfully showcased full use of controller ❤

It gives me Mario galaxy vibes but all the same both Mario odyssey and Mario galaxy were masterfully crafted. This, as you said, looks like a blending of random ideas.
