I've said it many times before. Even though i strongly recommend Asus motherboards, i wouldn't touch an Asus monitor outside of a cheap basic office setup. I saw RMAs first hand plus theres plenty of stories out there of people trying up to 4 predator class (i know thats acer but forgotten the asus variant) before finding one thats not faulty. Samsung is the go. Unfortunately their 32" is only 60hz. Also theyve got it in their heads recently to make large 16:9s curved. (curved should only be on 21:9 or wider). Im waiting for business class quality 100+hz non curved samsung. Prop the only 100+hz 30"+ monitor id recommend is an LG model. 27" is too small. once youve gone above 30" you cant go back.
@Nightmare78hAlo6 жыл бұрын
Samsung is not the go imo, my experience with Samsung monitor has been horrible. I currently own the Samsung LC27F396F and its the worst piece of shit of a monitor iv'e ever had, it suffers from a bad yellowy glow around its frame and it has horrible inverse ghosting issues on it. My old BenQ 22 inch monitor that i bought next for nothing many years ago has less ghosting, no inverse ghosting and no back light bleed then this mess of a monitor i'm using atm.

It´s getting annoying even. Hard to find products who are not made for kids. Look at "gamer laptops", over half of their products are just silly.
@jeremyteti9146 жыл бұрын
The first purpose of the RGB is you can easily match your setup to any theme you want, RGB is making that so easy, rather that to find components with specific colour, thats a very hard thing to do, you have to spend more for that before RGB. I agree it is too overwhelming with the rainbow. but I wouldn't call them garbage, No need to hate over RGB, it's just a light, you can turn it off if you want, you can change it if you want. They are just following the current market trends, trends that happens because what majority of people prefer.
@4G126 жыл бұрын
RGB has its place and can be of practical use if done right. For instance, a well implemented RGB keyboard is useful in a dark room. RGB can be useful for a monitor if correctly placed, say at the back to be reflected off the wall close behind to provide a soft glow and reduce eyestrain. But RGB on a RAM chip?
@andrew1977au6 жыл бұрын
4G12 would be good to have the option of not having it. It has to add cost to a product and personally I like a simple finish without so much bling. Seeing reviews with rainbows is just a turn off and I loose interest. Gone are the days of clean simple builds without all the crap. There’s no need for every product to have lighting. A simple case led strip is enough to show off if needed.
@4G126 жыл бұрын
The good news is the RGB should be easy turn off if it really annoys you that much. Last time I checked, the implementation of RGB is actually quite cheap as there is a relative glut of LEDs in the market. They are more likely trying to justify absurd prices with RGB than the other way round. That said, I'm REALLY not a fan of ASUS's obsession with making everything out of cheap plastic.

@Transistor Jump LOL that is the same thing people said about the Swifts when they came out. And yet, they are still 800-900, when 1100 at launch. You guys dont understand how much it cost to make this shit, and Nvidias tax. It will not be under 1000 for a very very long time. That said I do agree 2k is steep, I have seen some sales for 1500, when amazon throws another 1500 sale I am grabbing one.
@cyberlocc5 жыл бұрын
@Transistor Jump Ya, you got a TN swift most likely, or the OG model. I just checked the new swifts IPS are still 800. Also as I said, swifts were 1k, this thing is 2k, he is saying under 1k, never going to happen. Edit: 700 for the 1440, the 4k is 800, www.amazon.com/PG279Q-DisplayPort-Adjustable-Ergonomic-EyeCare/dp/B017EVR2VM Besides that they had to lower the price to get peeps to pay the panel lottery. This monitor doesnt have a lottery, Fald = no BLB, no IPS glow. Which are the 2 biggest things that have kept me from buying a swift.
@cyberlocc5 жыл бұрын
@Transistor Jump Sorry just seen this, then you got it on sale. Its 800 new everywhere, just like this monitor is 2k everywhere and I got mine for 1500 on sale last week, like I said i would :P, that doesnt mean you can always get them like that. There again, your monitor was released at 1k, was 800-900 at retailers within the first 2 months, and is 3 years old almost 4. This monitor is listed at 2k, and sold at 1800-1900, so if statistics follow, yours went down 4 years later, that would put this at ~1400 in 4 years, following suit. Then there is your statement of "by the time cards can do 4k 144hz" they already can, I got a 2080ti with the monitor, on Air atm still installing block next week, no overclock, I can get 144hz @ 4k pretty easily, by lowering settings that tank frames for now gain, with SLI, I can do it maxed, and I can easily get to 98hz (max without losing HDR) in alot of games right now.

I got the PG27UQ and love it, HDR at 4k is eye meltingly good! Having a screen that can run up to that 120 in SDR 444 is super important for me as I play not just cutting edge games but older ones too like World of Warcraft and running G-sync with that high of a HZs limit is so smooth. But I will say for HRD I still run 144 HZs, I spent many hours not able to see any real loss in 422 for hdr. So I'd rather have the 144hz limit then worry about something I cant really see.

Ok so there's a few issues. 1- 144hz is only without HDR, with HDR it's 98hz. Bit misleading from Asus. 2- The bezels are huge! Not the best looking. 3- In UK it's 2500 pounds! That's a disgrace lol, who is going to justify that. The Acer x27 looks like a much better buy in almost all aspects.
@morrays19965 жыл бұрын
I own this monitor, you can have HDR on at the 144hz refresh rate, so I don't get what you mean by saying "144hz is only without HDR, with HDR it's 98hz" because it's just plain wrong lol. I've owned this monitor for about 10 months now, the main problem is having it set to 144hz with HDR off with this monitor. The picture when set to 144hz while not viewing or playing HDR content was dark as fuck compared to when set to 120hz HDR off. Asus had to roll out a firmware update and I had to send mines in to get that firmware update to correct the colors which fucking sucked. Also, It's quite literally the exact same panel as the Acer one so the shortcomings you have on this one you'll get on the Acer one lol. But saying HDR is limited to 98hz is misinformation.

Doubt it, there are very few machines out there that can even hit the 98FPS mark in 4K that this monitor supports in it's best mode, to really have a playable high frame rate 4K HDR exprience, you will be running twin 1080TI's or TitanPs, if you have more money then god, a Titan V will also do the trick. It's at a price bracket due to hardware limitations that demand Nividia ultra high end hardware anyways, even duel Vega 64's have a hard time at 4K. TLDR Early Adopter Tax, AMD has no hardware to run this, Nividia are the only people that can anyways.

@@ashkanglm750 you can definitely use it for competitive. Is definitely 144hz and although I lock it at 98 for HDR, I don't notice any downgrade of picture quality at 144hz The halos at least to me are only noticable if u have a completely black background. Definitely the worst thing about it if you have a mouse in a completely blsck background but it's so minor I don't care much lol. The bezels are big but for a monitor this powerful back in 2018 they had to be. They're not distracting tho although right now I only use a 1 monitor setup so whenever I get a 2nd monitor I'll probably be able to answer that better. And the fan is quieter than a gnats fart. The hit going with 4:2:2 to general desktop and browsing usage really hurts and with windows scaling still still not being great means 27" is still too small for 4k. There isn't a game, that I could not play smoothly on this Monitor with 1080ti and I have an I7-6700K, which isn't the newest. I really recommend at least an 1080ti. I don't know, how your system looks, but keep that in mind. But trust me, once you played in 21:9 with this monitor, you can't even look at a 16:9 Monitor anymore. It feels so cropped. And 120 hz with g-sync is extremly smooth, that gives you an big advantage in shooter games.

I'm still running a 2560x1600 [16 : 10] ( 30 inch ) Apple HD Cinema Display from 2007. I've been looking for something worth the upgrade, it looks like things are getting close. I'd personally wait for the next leap in panel technology.... hypothetically like an OLED without the burn in.

So I experience some weird shit with my 27uq :/. Playing full screen games or alt tabbing makes the screen blinks black like I unplugged the display cable or something for a second or so and then it comes back on with the HDR message in the middle of the screen... Do you have this issue?

So conflicted, I would like to wait, but now I don't want to play any HDR games on SDR screen. I've considered QLED and OLED, but they're both plagued by an even worse HDMI 4k 60hz limitation

Does gsync work at 4k 144z hdr? Not sdr
@krazyfrog6 жыл бұрын
The real drawback is the Display Port limitation. This monitor will still look good two years from now and will be able to play all the HDR games coming out in the future but that DP limitation will never go away and as more and more graphics card become available at that can maintain 144Hz at 4K the limitation will only stick out more. That said, it really does seem to be the best gaming monitor one can buy right now and I'm guessing people who would spend $2000 on a monitor likely don't care too much about money and will probably upgrade to something else a year or two down the line when it becomes available. It's almost like saying don't buy the Note9 right now because it's $1000 when in reality people who spend $1000 on a phone upgrade every year because they want the best that's available right now and have the means to do so.

I bought this awesome display at microcenter about 4 months ago. hands down the BEST IPS display i've ever owned. 0... ZERO back light bleed/ips glow. absolutely outstanding HDR gaming, and super crisp 4k visuals. They talked about the fan on this monitor... i've never even heard it once since owning it, if i'm gaming for hours or writing/sending emails. I'm glad i waited till the price came down from $2k to $1k in the US. it's absolutely worth it at this price range.

I think response times and color accuracy are going to be more important for several years on, to the majority of consumers that is. You have no guarantee of maxing out your display refresh rate with any given game, and we've seen that doing so to a certain point at 4k causes degredation of image quality. It's a hard sell when most gamers are sporting low to mid range hardware which would never see 144hz 4k gaming, unless you up-res an older, less demanding title, in which case that one game is the only thing showing off your monitor's muscle. Color accuracy and response times can always be perceived, though...

high input lag it has an average response time of about 15ms no gsync or freesync support and I can easily say this now if you want a good gaming display pickup the 4k 120hz from asus or acer best display I have used hands down 5k and 8k won't be worth it until it gets gsync or freesync support with low input lag and response times so if you are in the market for a high resolution panel something greater than 4k the only thing I can recommend right now is the dell 5k monitor its still slow for gaming about 12ms response time but 5k is very much playable on today's hardware if you have 1080ti sli or titan xp sli as long as the game supports sli
@ployth90006 жыл бұрын
also it uses 2 displayport 1.4 cables to achieve the 8k 7680x4320 so that further increases input lag the new cards should be able to push 8k on a single dp 1.4 connection 2070 2080 2080ti though
