VLatch is a brand new feature on the Maximus XIII Apex and Extreme that allows enthusiasts to detect the true Vmin and Vmax of the CPU core voltage without having to purchase an expensive oscilloscope.
Explaining the VLatch function and purpose gets complicated very quickly but I’ll try to keep it as simple as possible.

Hi, i have the apex encore motherboard, but it still shows the v_latch voltage on hwinfo even tho it is switch disabled on my motherboard. Does it makes a diff when i turn this on? Its kinda weird.

(recommended llc 4) Not particularly, not in my case tho, depends on what you trying to achieve at the given voltage and at what workload. My 10900kf pulls almost 400w at min 1.19v 5.3 all core in linpack 1.42v max idle (direct die cooling) and at llc5 droop is around 230mv and 200~ at level 6. So if i want to pass 50 loops linpack at 5.3 all core i need to raise the initial voltage above 1.45 with llc5 to not drop under 1.2 at linpack or set llc6. I dont know why theres so much droop on my board or its just normal. all protections are off and at maximum current/power limits. (die sense voltage reading)

I actually have a question to ask. In ASUS motherboard’s CPU clock speed setting, there’s a thing called “per core” mode. I only know how to adjust the numbers in the “all core” mode and “auto” mode, but I am not sure how to deal with the “per core” mode. For example, I’m using a i5-10600KF, how do I know what the maximum clock speed each particular core of my cpu can be stabilized at, so that I can get the cpu to work at its highest speed rather than riskily setting a single number in the “all core” mode?

Is the setting "per core ratio limit" or "by core usage"? By core usage is actually how the Intel turbo boost works out of the box. It sets the ratio for each CPU core depending on how many cores are active. The more cores are active, the lower the ratio. By core usage has the advantage of being able to increase the ratio when few cores active. Thus resulting in increased performance. For modern Intel systems I strongly recommend using by core usage over using a fixed ratio for all cores

@@SkatterBencher Thanks, i want to setup the per core ratio limit. I want to set every single core at its highest possible speed while maintaining good stability. Cuz my i5-10600KF can stabilize at all-core 4.90GHz, but will bluescreen after 10min in stress tests at all-core 5.00GHz. So i guess, may be i can use the per core ratio limit to go higher than all-core 4.90Ghz but lower than all-core 5.00GHz. But how do i know which cores can go higher while the others must stay at 4.90GHz max?

I haven't actually checked if Per Core Ratio Limit is also working on 10th gen Comet Lake as it's an overclocking feature that's new on Rocket Lake. I covered how it works in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/larSgn2HhLtop8U

@@SkatterBencher thanks. I checked my 10600KF on the ASUS mobo. Actually it says “by core usage” rather than “per core ratio limit” - my mistake. And I tried to set an individual number for each of the six cores of my 10600KF. Result turned out to be: the highest stable value that I could reach for “6-Core Ratio Limit” is 49, while for the “1/2/3/4/5-Core Ratio Limit” I even reached to 55 without any problem. I stopped trying >55... But it seems to me that “1/2/3/4/5-Core Ratio Limit = 55” doesn’t make a tangible improvement (maybe only 1% improvement, score improved from 15900 to 16070 on passmark, judged by several tests) in the cpu benchmark as long as my “6-Core Ratio Limit” was fixed at 49. If so, what is the point of setting a larger number than 49 for the “1/2/3/4/5-Core Ratio Limit”? Can you give me some advice? Thanks again.

attention sur les rog apex XII z490 il ne faut pas flasher le bios avec un 11700k en place pour que la carte mère supporte le 11700k, il faut la flasher avec un 10700k, sinon ça ne marchera pas.

04:22 ASUS mobos are just so nice to work with... I had RAMPAGE 4 and RAMPAGE 5 now waiting for my MAXIMUS 8 Apex and new set of G.Skill F4-5066C20D-16GTRS. For your information I actually got my 11900K work on MSI Z590 A-PRO all core turbo @ 5.5GHz (All AVX disabled) I just bought a cheap but somewhat good board to test the 11900K. I really liked the X99 RAMPAGE V board and the stuff you could actually do with it... I'm sure I will explore the MAXIMUS XIII the same way and your videos will come handy!!! You have nice content also subscribed to your channel and keep them videos coming!

I can only speak for myself and say I had a great experience with both Z490 and Z590 Apex. I don't know of any issues with the Z590, but then again I rarely browse forums or look up product reviews, so I'm generally (and blissfully) unaware of problems that may or may not exist :)
