Atago: My Favorite Tier 8 Cruiser

I'd love to see the Zao get the deck armor the Atago has. The Zao is still a great ship in the right hands, but it can use a little help when it comes to the general player base. The improved deck would be a nice way to bring back the troll armor.

I have the Atago B and I absolutely love it. At first I didn't like it, as I wanted Massachusetts or Tirpitz but this playstyle has grown on me.

Atago was my second premium in game murmansk was first but Atago is a great ship, it for me has been a great Cruiser I have some great games with her and definitely some terrible lol thanks for ur great vids PQ!

I love Atago, but the 15 second reload speed kind of kills it for me. But she was my first Tier 8 (I bought her when I was getting to around T6-7, so I could play with my clanmates more often), and she's always going to be special to me.

was looking for some real old footage of the 1932 IJN atago . and ended up here just to say i realy love this ship . and i kinda play it as a big destroyer . only weak point are the torpedo tubes . and i ordered the IJN world of warships model kit from a site

Just picked up the ARP Maya (Atago clone) and I have to say good concealment, good accuracy, good range. I would not complain if the armor is trash since I can play around it anyway, but no, the armor is also excellent, maybe in today's meta where Cruisers is more valuable if they have Radar but I found dealing a lot's of damage and not dying is also quite a strong point. This ship is great.

Was my first premium as well. Good ship but I prefer mogami at tier 8. Yes odd I know but it just seems to click.

What I really don't like on mogami is that you don't have heal ,and the paper armor and of course the deck! Atago is a lot tankier and with 3-4 heals can work even at t10 games! Mogami at t10 games is there just to die!

Thank you! Not enough appreciation for this ship. The meta hasn't helped it (aa rework, cvs, radar ships) It's fast, guns are great, and if it comes to it you can torp ambush BBs. But most of all it's fun, you have a very active, busy game in it.

One of the worst cruisers i have ever played, and i'm really good in cruisers this shit is pure suffering. Bouncing Yamato guns? yeah sure Armor? yeah sure.... it gets citadel'd from every angle. It's just made out of citadels. The citadel is so high that when you angle you will get citadel'd either from the bow or from the rear when angled. Even things like a Gneisenau can devastate it. Also when you kite you lose one the number 3 turret due to garbage angles. Saying that this ship is tanky is a straight up lie. The biggest letdown though is the absolutely garbage range. This ship is not skill based at all, it's all luck based. You only get good results when you either play against terrible players or you don't get focused and shot at at all. This is coming from the best Surrey player on the server. It's just frustration and a chore to play it. The amount of times i get randomly citadel'd from whatever angle is just straight through the roof. And lastly the rudder is made out of wet tissue paper, you lose it constantly. 10:10 that's literally never happens, you just die to that 9 out of 10 times.... I usually agree with you Potato but most of this video is pure nonsense showing cherry picked games.

bought this yesterday, i HATE it!! i think its genuinely the woprst ship iv ever had. you cant kite with it because its not accurate has long reload and handles like a sleepy bb! obviouslyt you cant brawl either. i either do nothing because the game runs away from me or i get fuckign obliterated instantly by the entire enemy team. how the fuck do you use it?? 7 random battles and 17 in ranked, a total of 3 kills!!!

If you're not good with positioning, kiting and keep distant. If you're a short-tempered guy who love pure action and intensity. If you're not good at situation awareness and hardly realize who is gonna shoot you..... Then my friend, you shouldn't touch the Japanese BB and CA line!! Because they're not meant to be in the heart of actions!!
