This is the beginning of the movie, when a large explosion and a giant wave that threatens the city, The Heart of Atlantis hides it. And Kida's mother dissapear.

I think the problem was the income, the movie was rated as average but Disney won't even give a mention or an Easter egg of Atlantis in their newer movies which obviously sucks. But Treasure planet got a harder punch to the gut. Their income was lower than Atlantis.

I just like to ponder that Atlantis was the first movie I'd seen back then to kick off with thousands of deaths Also, given that Kida later says "Eight thousand years ago, Atlantis sunk into the sea" (or something like that), it leads me to the thought that Atlantis was responsible for the Bronze Age Collapse (which happened 11.000 years ago, but in Atlantis they have no way of actually measuring time like us, because no sun, so it is entirely possible that 8.000 years to them is 11.000 years to us. And it stacks up with the Egyptians and Assyrians referring to the bringers of the Collapse as "The Sea People" This is of course not serious, but if we take Disney's lore to the full, it's a pretty good story
@EbonFang_925 жыл бұрын
That's a pretty damn awesome explanation
@mivapusa5 жыл бұрын
@@EbonFang_92 I actually realised a mistake in my estimates. We today count years as cycles of twelve months, but this was an invention of Augustus Caesar, adding July and August to the year, thus going from 10 to 12 months. It is therefore wholly plausible that Atlantis used another calender than the Romans and the Hellenistic cultures. A 14-16 month year would more or less make up the difference. An amusing pointer to this is the resemblances between Atlantis architecture and that of the ancient Minoans (obviously not in scale) who were the first to build cities of such complexity that it even involved sewers. Of course the rest points to Aztec architecture, but the sequel made it clear Atlantis had been playing at colonialism in South America.
@diepssuarez26764 жыл бұрын
Michael VPS You aren't actually all wrong with that Theory. You see, one of the 4 main bronze age civilizations was based in Greece. Did Atlantis sink once before? Fairly recently, maybe? I didnt notice when I was a kid, but now, I wondered how the tidal wave could floor Atlantis and didnt just drain away once the force of the wave dispersed. And I noticed at 0:58, it looks like the city is actually in a depression in the land, based on the sudden drop of the hill the ships fly over - that could either be a dam, made to keep the waterlevel out when the rest of the land is under the waterlevel, like the Netherlands. Or it could be that Atlantis sunk once before, and lowered below the waterlevel with a larger area. Atleast thats what I thought, looking at the way it sinks in the clip, and how it descends into the earth, how there's a lot more buildings after the 'dam' at 0:58 compared to before, and the rings around the city center looking like some kind of wall-off. Not to mention the difference in topography of landscapes inside and outside the dam the flyers fly by in the same scene seconds before; going from meadows and hills and randomly placed buildings, to comparatively dense building plan on mostly flat land. I also looks like, to me, that around 0:53, the water almost reaches the buildings, but its too fast for me to tell the buildings are simply built on top or actually partially submerged.

Fun fact: this scene wasn't originally going to be in the movie. Originally it was going to have Vikings with the Shepard's Journal, but them all getting killed by a Kraken. It was cut by the recommendation of the director who said there'd be connection to or with Kida and the audience by the time Milo meets her. This was put in to show Atlantis at its peak, how it fell and to introduce us to Kida and the king

It makes me cry of Kida losing her mother, crying out to her as many others around are about to die a horrible death. Kida’s father shielding her from the brightness powerful heart of the crystal. If Atlantis was real in any way and the destruction of it was just like Pompeii, in a single day or night gone, an entire empire of people killed. If time travel was possible, I would go back in time to really see if Atlantis was real and how it disappeared into the depths of the sea. One of my favorite Disney movies; truly underrated movie. Thanks for uploading. 💙💙💙

Anyone else noticed those larger air crafts shaped like lobsters? They are all exactly like the Leviathan that attacked the Sub. This leaves a big question: Were those things controlled by people inside of them, or are they massive robotic weapons controlled by the Crystal's energy? Personally I'd say they are robotic weapons. Which is shocking, seeing as their size is humongous!

I think they called them leviathan either to make a biblical connection or perhaps, if you have the DVD and see the alternate beginning with the Vikings, the way the Leviathan jumped out of the water eluded to a whale like shape or movement, even just the huge pincers rising partially out of the sea looked whale-like, and seeing as they only call it the Leviathan coz Milo read it from The Shepherd's Journal... you get the drift.

@jeaneljaylamputi22153 жыл бұрын
@@sitcomchristian6886 Uhm, they did, but not my exact words obviously(unless common sense isn't exactly your forte). Leviathans are unkillable by humans specifically, and their eyes glow. Job 41:26 "The sword that reaches it has no effect, nor does the spear or the dart or the javelin." Job 41:18 "Its snorting throws out flashes of light; its eyes are like the rays of dawn." And I'm replying to the OP who mentioned the movie Atlantis, with their own version of the Leviathan, hence why I said "They're basically that, but shoots lasers." I think my comment was pretty clear on what I was trying to portray. Unfortunately it wasn't clear enough for you.
