Hey Sjin, You need to hook up the left hand side few(think its 5) of the thermo gens as they have no water

Hey Sjin, it looked like some of your generators were missing water! I don’t know how the auto crafting works, but could you not have started bringing the completed generators over to prevent the brown outs?

When autocrafting, I believe it stores the materials being used separately from the rest of the system so you don't screw up and remove materials you need during the crafting process. The way he had things set up, it did the entire batch of every setup all at once, so it made, for example, all of the Blazing generators before moving on to the next tier. As such, they weren't available until it was finishing up the final tier. Had he set it as several separate crafts each of one generator, then yes, he could have replaced them as he went. However, there is a different problem he's having. When he had them set up, the GUI said each was producing 4200 FE/t. But when he connected his Induction Matrix, it was only pulling in around 3.2 kFE/t, or 3200 FE/t. There are a few possible reasons for this, but whatever the exact reason is, it means his system isn't pulling as much power as it could or should be pulling. He's not even getting the full power of a single generator. Assuming this issue was there the entire time, even swapping out the generators as it went wouldn't have prevented him from running out of power. He could craft even more and would still run out of power.

Fun fact: Refined Storage crafting can get confused by Metadata, i.e. if an object has Energy in it, it might treat that as a different item. You can use a Discharger from Powah to drain items for easier upgrading. (The energy stays your power system like a battery, so it doesn't go to waste.) Alternatively, you can use the "Ignore Metadata" tick box when programming a Pattern. Then, it will use any "version" of the same item in your computer, so you can just drop in the partially-charged pieces. (This only works for autocrafting, sadly, not shift-click.)

You may be able to use modular routers to create a hidden player detector that can emit a redstone signal to automatically open the glass doors you just installed. Not exactly a priority, but is could be a nice esthetic. Also, check out laser i/o. It's a powerful logistics mod.

I've mentioned it a few times over the years, but Mekanism power cables actually don't apply their transfer rate like other mods (where the limitation is the lowest tier cable in a run and energy moves down the cable from point of generation to point of consumption). They are more like a big battery that can transfer the combined total of the network per tick. Your maximum transfer rate anywhere in the network is the number you see when you hover over any single cable. You can test this by comparing a long run of basic cables vs a single basic cable with a power source that exceeds the rate of a single basic cable.
@imadecoy.6 ай бұрын
If it makes sense to write it in a different way, here's a quote from the wiki: "Each cable network has a certain transfer rate and capacity (energy stored in the cables). The capacity is the sum of the capacity of all cables in a network, the transfer rate is the same, but per tick." You can also upgrade the cables in place in the world "In Mekanism V10, cables can be upgraded in-world to higher tiers by right-clicking with the appropriate material - Infused Alloy to upgrade from Basic to Advanced, Reinforced Alloy to upgrade from Advanced to Elite, and Atomic Alloy to upgrade from Elite to Ultimate. This will upgrade up to eight connected cables at once, and consumes the alloy. Note that if this is used for less than eight cables, the alloy is still consumed."

you should set up a system that always refines ores when you are under a certain limit
@atomicvenom6 ай бұрын
Hey sjin, if you have atomic alloy in your hand and right click the elite cable, itll transform the elite to ultimate ( 8max since from its craft) but becareful if you have 3 cables left to replace since its not worth an alloy for 3 cables

It doesn't prepopulate the generator upgrades because its looking for a freshly crafted one. The difference of course being that the one you picked up already had some energy stored in it so its unique compared to an empty one.

Centralized power is convenient but you risk wide scale brownouts, as you discovered. The thermo generators from Powah! are great for dedicated power for small systems, like your computer. For your next bit of automation, consider automating ore processing. You don't need to use 5x ore processing if you just sieve 5x more gravel. Just keep in mind that you'll have to avoid choke points in the production line.

its probably the flux sieves eating all power. in my playthrough we ran out of power as soon as we put one diamond upgrade in one.
@MichaelWeber52376 ай бұрын
Could have saved yourself some headache by removing the Hardened generators you already had and put them in the computer to upgrade to spirited; you'd have to do it in small groups at a time to not kill all your power gen at the same time, but by the time you have 5 or so spirited crafted and placed you'd be able to do all the rest at once.

It's funny. All of that work to set up several Spirited Thermo Generators and his Induction Matrix is only pulling in... Around 3.2 kFE/t, or about 3,200 FE/t Yes, I know that likely comes from an improperly set up Induction Matrix and not all of the Thermo Generators, but it's funny that with all of that work, he's ending up with less power than I make with my Gas Burning Generator setup, which is more than enough to power my base. Even funnier, he keeps saying he can't make a Mekanism Reactor setup yet. Meanwhile I got mine long before I even set up my AE2 system. Minimum size, but it's been running long enough I have a full Mekasuit with most of the upgrades. Just goes to show it's not a matter of being unable to set it up, he's just not prioritizing the setup enough to get it done. Which is fine, to each their own, I really wanted my Mekasuit and rushed everything Mekanism pretty quickly with a lot of AFK time to build up resources with my autosieves, he chose to build full structures and many other setups and farms I haven't gotten to yet. I just find the dichotomy hilarious, especially seeing all of that work not paying off for him (again, likely because of the Induction Matrix being setup improperly for what he wants).
