If you like stories in rap you're going to love Atmosphere. Check out Always Coming Back Home To You, In Her Music Box, and Yesterday from them. It's amazing storytelling.

There is a fan made video for this song. They turned it into a short story/mini movie. This song and the video never fail to choke me up in the best way

This is the same guy. His name is Slug. Atmosphere is actually a duo.

yoo dude, glad to see you get some rap on here. I used to hate rap and was a "metal only" person until I discovered Atmosphere/Aesop Rock/Eyedea/Sadistik. I think it was Atmosphere's song "Yesterday" that made me realize there is so much more to rap than just flex tracks. Would love to see more Hip Hop here and if you're up for it, check out some Sadistik. He has a really poetic style of writing, but mainly deals with the loss of his friend and fellow rapper "Eyedea" and the loss of his father while dealing with depression. I'd recommend Sirens, Saints, 8 1/2, or Lazarus. Either way, glad to see hip hop here!

They have so many good songs - "Not Another Day", "Little Man", "In Her Music Box", "Like the Rest of Us", and what I think is the penultimate story song by them - "Always Coming Back Home to You" ... also give "God Loves Ugly" a listen!

If you're a battle rap fan then look up some videos of an underground battle rap king by the name of eyedea, he passed away in 2010 at 29 but he actually won the blaze battles at 17 and was rumored to have been offered a deal from puffy after he won but he chose not to sell his soul and turned it down like a boss

The entire album is fantastic storytelling. I've listened to it for years, but for some reason the past few days I've been playing the fuck out of Me (from the same album) Complex storytelling over a nasty jazzy beat. Please react to it.
