I bought this from a shop in the Sydney suburbs in the mid 80's (I believe it was around A$100). I was living there for a few years, and wanted a cappuccino maker I could bring back to the United States, as the voltage is different, and I got tired of buying electronics I'd have to leave there. Still have it, and it's basically like new. I had to put it in my divorce settlement, as my husband was arguing for it! Lol

Neat, discovered these guys at a local craft fair, Lord Hobo and Atomic Coffee paired up to make a cold brew milk stout for this year (heavy beer) and honestly it’s the best I’ve had in terms of any spiked coffee beverage. Coffee on its own holds up great!

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. I actually have my own Atomic - a Brevetti Robbiati, from the 50's. I bought it in Melbourne from an Opp Shop for around $5.00 in the early Eighties. I've been using it ever since and it is one of my prized possessions. Today the 'connoisseurs' recommend 2 tbn of coffee per 6 oz cup (thats approx. 7g of coarse ground coffee per 180ml). I find that the small filter is perfect for making a full flavoured coffee: fill and tamp down with moderate pressure.

I recently purchased my second one and was disappointed with the performance, it would only deliver just over half a cup of coffee whereas my previous one would almost fill the pan to the top. I stripped it down, cleaned it up as per your instructions and it made no difference. As I understand how these things work I figured that the feed tube may not be low enough in the base to pick up enough water or that there was a hole in the tube defeating the pressure difference. So I took out the filler cap with the intention of prying the tube lower into the base but as soon as I looked inside I noticed a neatly drilled hole in the delivery tube. I checked my other machine and there was no such hole. A home modification I suspect but why? Any clues?

Mine had a little hole in the tube also, I've plugged mine and it works great! I've used a sort of elastic metal, you kneed it.

I'm confused by this, since the espresso is not really espresso if its extracted to this degree. might as well drink drip coffee. also I doubt this controls temperature and probably burns the coffee as well.

The initial coffee extracted would be the strongest, and you can put an espresso cup under it. The longer you leave it the more water dilutes the coffee. Also depends on how thick the grind is and how much you tamper down the coffee in the croup handle

Half fill the basket with finely ground coffee, and only put 375 ml water in. You’ll then have a rich strong brew (enough for one person) at the end. Add milk and a dollop of pouring cream. Microwave the cup/contents to bring it up to your desired temperature. To make coffee for 2, fill the basket to just below the top, put in 400 ml and complete as above. Do not put in so much water that you can see it looking through the fill hole - that’s way too much. My machine has been used daily for many years, and is one of my prized possessions.

I found something in a flea market in Rome kind of like this. It’s actually not so old and called a Kamira; This thing makes something like an espresso with crema (I’m sure espresso purists would say no, it’s not proper espresso). Can you make smaller shots that are more akin to espresso with this? Or is the coffee that comes out more akin to other traditional moka pots?

I've got one of these machines, and yes, coffee tastes and styles have changed, dramatically since the 1980's. Nice video - A Great Share. BTW, in the video they showed the manual for the coffee machine. You wouldn't happen to have an original one would you? If so, please PM me. TT

@@atomiccoffeemakersau Good morning Irene Notaras! I need more information! I want to know where you saw Robbiati's coffee machine first. Was it in Australia? (the adverts of David Jones suggest that from 1958) or in the UK where you might have visited your brother maybe around 1964. The first adverts of Bon Trading in 1965 show a AM&G Sassoon coffee makers . Did Sassoon forward you to Robbiati after the Vittoria factory closed? Best regards, Mik PS: i have other questions so be prepared!

Can anyone advise me please, anyone in the Atomic Coffee Machine community - I think I've found a rare blue knob, alas not the machine but just the knob.....it was with some other Atomic bits which I didn't get, but I managed to salvage the knob. Could I email a photo of it to anyone willing to give out their email address or maybe I could put it up on 'dropbox' if I can work out how it works again!? Anyway, can anyone help in replies?
@atomiccoffeemakersau5 жыл бұрын
Hi I read your comment and I am not sure if your blue knob works properly. If you purchase online brand new there are more chance to work. If it doesn't work . I strong advice to come to our shop with your machine . www.atomiccoffeemachines.com.au/

wrong ! the milk is supposed to be incorporated INTO the coffee ( this was overheated ) . it isn't supposed to get hotter than aprox 75C , at this temp it releases sugars & is notacibly sweet & silky . it isn't supposed to sit on top of the coffee like a marshmallow !
