Music is the closest thing we have to a time machine. It's amazing how the power of sound can instantly take you back to a time and place in your past. Nostalgia is both a mix of happy and sad emotions. Happy to have lived and remember those moments in your life, but sad that everyday they slip further and further away.

Well put. You could even extrapolate that thought to anything sensory - it need not only be music, but any sound, smell, sight, sensation, or taste. Marcel Proust expresses something similiar in 'In Search of Lost Time'. For him, as an adult, it is drinking tea and eating a madeleine (forever known as the madeliene moment) that evoke forgotten memories of a happy childhood: "The past is hidden somewhere outside the realm, beyond the reach of intellect, in some material object (in the sensation which that material object will give us) which we do not suspect. And as for that object, it depends on chance whether we come upon it or not before we ourselves must die."

Don’t ever be sad for good days come and gone. Be sad for those who never have good days. Live to hold life in your hand like a flame, bright enough to fill your life with joy but not so hot to burn yourself. Life is a balance, don’t ever think bad times will dominate your life. They are a moment to live past and enjoy after they’re gone. Yes I said bad times will become a moment of joy after you live through them.

I would have LOVED to go to that show. I was in Northern VA at the time, so I would've made it out. I'm 29 now too, and those were my favorite bands back then. That era was peak metal in pretty much every genre for me (aside from Deathcore because Lorna is killing the game). It's a bit ironic, I was playing a ton of shows back then, but since I still lived with my parents, they had total control over where I could go. I didn't see my first concert until I was 19 and had already played hundreds of my own. All the bands growing up and changing leaves a strange, bittersweet nostalgia feeling, like something is missing and hasn't really been replaced all the way.

"This is drawing on a personal experience I had with someone. I kind of embellished it to form the song. In a way the song could be about true love 'cause I will carry you on a broken back and blown out wings... 'live, love, burn, die' says it all. We live, we love, we burn with passion and desire for life and then we die. The key is to burn, to really live, experience life, feel passionate about something and give your whole being to it. Whether it's writing music, making love or painting. If you're gonna do it, do it with passion. The word burn is sort of a metaphor for true unadulterated passion." -Alex Varkatzas This is what the song is about.....you know. Your passion. Like what all music should be about. It looks like people have forgotten music isn't about US it's about how we can relate to it. If you can't relate to the song. Move on. If you can great. enjoy it. If you complain about how you don't like the song because you don't understand it. it's like complaining because you can't solve a math problem for the same reason. Oh and if you hate that it's not your style. Well.....Don't listen to it. It's kinda like Jail in a funny way. If you don't wanna go there don't do bad things. If you don't wanna hear this music. Don't listen to it. Pretty simple.

I can't believe this song is nearly 20 years old. This reminds me of friends from a lifetime ago. Small club shows where you were so close that you and the band were breathing on one another. Some made it big. Others faded and became everyday Joes. I'll always remember the night I saw Atreyu's van got robbed of thousands in cash right before the show at Club Chrome in NJ and people were just throwing money onto the stage. Another funny one was where they were the openers for a local band but when they finished their set, half the crowd left.

this is still their magnum opus imo. alongside the crimson. this song is just so beautifully angry and melodic

I'm in my mid 30s and i remember this album and the first time i heard it. My group of friends and i were obsessed. Good bands in the early 2000s (2000-2005) before the asking Alexandria cringe bands ruined it all.

First time I heard these guys was when I bought a Used album and it came with a demo disc of a buck of bands. Right Side of The Bed played. Then I dove deep into their music and loved it ever since. Especially before their radio days when it was a bit more raw.

I was in my late 20's when I found this band. A drummer in a hard rock cover band transitioning into a guitar player in an all original hard rock/ metal band... These guys opened up so much for me!

This is the song that started my long love for Atreyu. Still to this day they are my favorite band. I've been able to enjoy them live at multiple shows. I've been able to get their autographs. I have pictures with both Alex and Brandon. I remember being 15 and finding out about Atreyu. Their look dragged me in but their catchy choruses and heavy melodies really kept me intrigued.

2007 Taste of Chaos tour. I hesitated to jump in the mosh pit because of a 350lb 6'7" dude wearing a shirt that said "Jesus is a cunt" was literally picking people up and throwing them.

Atreyu has changed my life! I try listening to someone else after I've listen to all of the Atreyu albums I have but when I get a little into the first song of whoever else I can't help but think to myself, "Meh, Atreyu's better" and I start my Atreyu albums all over again drumming away on my steering wheel. You guys ROCK!!!
