I feel that Phoenix surviving the bridge makes sense even in game (the surviving aspect, not the "healed in an hour"). Just 2 cases prior had Dahlia jumping off the bridge too, and surviving. And the quote about the bodies lost in the rapids mentions nothing about the amount of people that did survive, or the bodies that were found. It's like the Bermuda Triangle: yes, mysterious disappearances, but not every single flight disappeared over there

I think the game creating that possibility feasible is exactly how T&T was able to make the mystery not feel like it comes out of left field, especially since T&T was made to be all about cycles, reversals, and "SUBTLE FORESHADOWING." But I will say that I feel allows it to be more feasible is that the Mia backstory was all found out and established AFTER Phoenix's fall originally and have him recovering in the hospital, suggesting that the context of Dahlia falling into the river could be fabricated in said so-called coma, even if admittedly it is easier to believe the theory itself being highly unlikely with the nature of Trials and Tribulations

When Edgeworth was presumed to have ended it all, Phoenix outright tried to avoid discussing him, even to his most trusted colleagues. This similar form of avoidance could be interpreted to be what Edgeworth is doing in AAI for the purposes of this theory.

Personal theory of mine is Athena is the unnamed Von Karma granddaughter mentioned by Manfred during Turnabout Goodbyes as the birth dates line up in the timeline, and she just happened to study in Germany maybe went there after her backstory to live with her father who could have been the secret son of Von Karma, maybe not wantingto mention her relation knowing Phoenix's history with the Von Karma's, (especially since we never see her father), unless my theory that following the events of TGAA2 Germany took the role of Britain as the largest world superpower/hub of super hightech colleges, is why she studied there. Dahlia, at a much younger age, survived the bridge as well, even holding a diamond that if it landed on her wrong, could harm her, so Phoenix didn't survive, but she did(Turnabout Beginnings(also how else would Mia recognize Dahlia/vice visa in Turnabout Memories and be so upset with each other unless the Godot/Diego incident occured at Dahlia's hands/ how 3-4 ended.) is true as 7 years before TnT Turnabout Reminisce occured right before it and is mentioned by Edgeworth, also during Investigations 2, Edgeworth never saw Phoenix so Phoenix couldn't be made up in that game), possible he could have gotten burned but going into a coma because of the river fall, not really.

For your point that phoenix’s death leaves the game with unanswered questions, I think if that is the case then it should be assumed that they still have answers and may likely differ from the ones we see in game , so I wonder if it’s possible then answer those lingering questions with the knowledge of only before the bridge. From my perspective, I believe all the events from 3-4 are also all under Phoenix’s coma mind. Remember we learn everything from that case after Phoenix tumbled to his fall. And he fell with so many lingering questions, and it was only after revisiting this case he got answers. Remember he was questioned by how Dahlia was so evil and he never saw that. Or how Godot is so vindictive towards him. Or how Dahlia escaped or even the connection between Mia and Dahlia. So I believe he manufactured that connection to give himself some sense of closure. And what more poetic than having said Dahlia too fall into the river like Phoenix. Which we also only established in 3-4. It does make more sense overall once again this theory is all a big convoluted mess. But that’s the explanation I found for myself

​@CoolCarGuy Sadly Investigations(mentioned a case occured a few months after Turnabout Reminisce, which matches up timeline wise with Turnabout Beginnings)/what Mia knew, and maybe Gumshoe(if you present Mia profile during 3-3 he mentions being cross examined by her, which doesn't occur during 3-1), kinda disproves 3-4 being faked as both mention a case at the same time and Mia recognized Dahlia in 3-1 which occured long before 3-5, Mia was also seemed upset with how in love Phoenix was which only makes sense if Diego was Godot, and was poisoned by Dahlia as shown in 3-1.

Just because it gives it a reason doesn’t mean it isn’t still circumstantial without direct recall before in incident (though I do agree with it being logical outside of this big theory) As for reminiscence, correct me if I’m wrong but it only refers to itself being Edgeworth’s first case because it was prematurely canceled. Other than the retconning of it being Edgeworth’s first case, there is no mention of his participation or any event from Turnabout Beginnings. So it isn’t proof of anything that the events of Turnabout Beginnings existed at all. He could have just had a different first case afterwards that isn’t Turnabout Beginnings. Also if Manfred was so insistent in viewing his AAI-4 Trial, why is he nowhere in 3-4? Or put a more concerted effort to rig the trial and not let a lowly DA up him to a verdict that close. Edgeworth was framed as being as infallible as Manfred, yet he was cutting it close and got away due to Fawkes death so… Overall it doesn’t disprove anything imo even if I am overall more willing to side that the Goodbyes Trial does exist even with all of the pieces happily falling into place

@CoolCarGuy If only Grossberg was in 3-4, along with Diego, then it might be easier to prove as real, as for Manfred probably visiting family/watching Franziska's first real trial(she was 13 during Reminisce so he first case was probably soon after) during Turnabout Beginnings or just thought it wouldn't be an interesting trial as Terry seemed pretty guilty, meanwhile Reminisce would have involved dealing with the Yatartargsu(very long running and interesting) and Badd was their so maybe Von Karma wanted to rub it in his face about how good Edgeworth was.

The problem is that we learn that fact following Phoenix falling into the river. In fact the theory extends that 3-4 is entirely made within Phoenix’s mind as a way to connect all of his question marks (Dahlia, Godot, Mia) to one place. And him being the most hung up about Dahlia, how more poetic than have her be the one he is falling into the same footsteps like him plunging into the river.
