What is your opinion on the Can Am Defender compared to the Polaris Ranger? The Defender has a visco-lock front differential, something I don't particularly care for, when I want 4WD I want it to be in 4WD, not have fluid controlling the differential locking. Other than that, what do you think about the Can Am Defender. Would you prefer one over the other in terms of capability? I don't have the need to go fast, but I'd like power to pull heavy loads on trails, gathering firewood, and just out riding the trails, plus utility use around the property...something my Yamaha Rhino lacked was a way to unlock the rear differential for those utility chores around the yard...Polaris and Can Am both feature a selectable rear differential. From what I can tell the Can Am's CVT is a bit better design as it doesn't freewheel like Polaris for some reason thinks is a great idea.

I also prefer a lockable front differential but the Can Amis one of the very best limited slip difs. And the Can Am CVT is way (way!) better than the Polaris in takeoff and downhill holdback. It's a big machine - even a little bigger than the Ranger and for work that's good. The engine is smoother, the suspension more comfortable, and certainly overall the machine is more reliable.

ATVTV Thank you for your reply. I've been looking at the Polaris Ranger ever sense getting rid of my Yamaha Rhino, but I'm now leaning towards a Can-Am more so than a Ranger LOL.

and you need to test the new polaris sportsman 850 sp eps the engine breaking is fenominal! it brakes all four wheels and will creep down any incline slower than any canam. try it!!

our 2015 can am outlander max xt 1000 2up has no issues going down hill,,, but polaris is a good machine too,

Could I have some help? I'm looking at a 2009 brute force and 2011 brute force is there any differences I should know before I make my choice? Are they pretty much the same?
@ATVTVCOM8 жыл бұрын
Nothing so major that I would buy one over the other simply for that. As always choose the cleaner ATV that has been properly maintained and not abused.
@theirishaxe94058 жыл бұрын
maybe you should just get fender flares so you can keep your stability with the wider stance.
@ceethelight12397 жыл бұрын
does the brute force 750 have a separate front and rear brake
@ATVTVCOM7 жыл бұрын
Yes. And a lever on the handlebars for the rear as well as a foot pedal.
@theirishaxe94058 жыл бұрын
just wondering does your canam have all four wheels lock in for decent control? I've never really rode a canam enough to check it out. thanks

if i install a aftermarket exhaust on brute 750 will it run fine without doing anything to it.
@ATVTVCOM7 жыл бұрын
It should run fine but not sure how long........before some persona can't stand the noise and beats it with a hammer :-)

hello I'm in the market right now for a new ATV I am considering the can am outlander 570 xt and the brute force 750 there are alot of nice features on the can am the dealer is pushing me towards the kawasaki I mostly plow with my ATV and use it for pulling a wood trailer what would you suggest are the can and the nightmare be claims ? noisy CVT noisy brakes hard to engage the shifter ? I have been told the kawi puts out alot of heat but goes into gear much smoother any help would be aprereciated
@ATVTVCOM8 жыл бұрын
If you are going to mostly plow snow and tow a trailer, the extra power of the BF will be welcome - not that the Outty wouldn't do it. The Kawasaki will be more reliable in the long run, easier to shift, and has a parking brake. We've never noticed any heat from the engine. Typically the big Can Ams put out massive amounts of heat.

Thanks for the reply I rode the brute today and although it wS only for a few minute test ride all the things you pointed out were spot on . I love the way you judge the ATV on its merits never being biased really made it easy to make the most of the test ride .I must say what a motor !!!
