Aubrey is my arch nemesis because she’s the one who got me into fat acceptance. Fucking maintenance phase
@Jerri.Blank.9674Ай бұрын
Omg SAME. For too long, I didn’t start working on weight loss because I heard her mucus-y voice in my head saying, “Being skinny will be your new part-time job!” 🙄
@mightykaytorАй бұрын
@Jerri.Blank.9674 geez, that's awfully dramatic of her, and it really shows how little she knows about having a normal, healthy relationship with food and her body. I admit, first making a lifestyle change did take some effort and mental energy over a few years, but once I got the hang of things, learned about portion control, and developed an appreciation for fitness, it became pretty chill as long as my mental health is good and isnt actively interfering with all the self-care tasks that tend to get neglected when all your energy is caught up in a struggle.
@Jan74Ай бұрын
@@Jerri.Blank.9674I am not skinny to normal people, but I suppose to FAs any healthy weight person is "skinny". It's pretty easy to maintain. Losing was harder, but you don't do it forever. It's not a part time job.

27:20 When people stop taking it, they re-gain the weight because they start eating more food again. She won’t ever phrase it like that because she’s an ideologue, but worth highlighting.

I can’t speak on Ozempic, but I have had a great experience with compound tirzepatide (zepbound/Mounjaro equivalent). It’s treated my metabolic disorders (insulin resistance due to PCOS) so that can avoid diabetes down the line and decreased inflammation in my body from autoimmune illnesses. I’m also down 61 pounds since February. GLP-1s are amazing and help with a variety of diseases, not just diabetes and obesity. The research coming out on the use of GLP-1s to manage cardiovascular issues and arthritis is fascinating.

I care if that personal life involves them hitching on to a trend that is making it difficult for folk to get the medication they need. I couldn’t care less about general celebrity fan culture though, these are just people! Sometimes celebrity fandom feels very culty

Swiftie here, and I find it interesting that so many of them like her. By all their talking points and standards, they should despise her. She's thin, blonde, white, beautiful, ultra-popular, and can do whatever she wants (to a degree). To be fair, she is also awkward, goofy, chaotic, delusional sometimes, dorky, and lives in her own fantasy... so maybe there is something to relate to for some of the FAs. No shade.

My ex was swiftie and FA and I always thought there was some sort of admiration for Taylor's body. I remember once she talked for god knows how much time about how "delicate" she was and "pretty" like a "rose petal" and she was so pissed that, despite me liking some Taylor's songs, to me she's not particularly attractive.

If you do a book, you might want to consider the novel “good in bed”. I think it was written in 1998-2002ish time period. I just read it and the whole story is laced with all the underlying beliefs that form the basis of FA today. I think it’s interesting to see how normalized and culturally accepted these ideas were 25 years ago that they formed the entire plot of a novel.

I’m not a swiftie but I also don’t like Travis because his buddy made some real chauvinistic caveman comments, and I’m a big believer in “birds of a feather flock together” so I look side eyed at Travis dating a powerful woman like Taylor and worry that his ultimate goal is to clip her wings because that kind of machismo results in jealousy. So far she seems strong and secure enough not to let that happen (and she’s got FU money!) but yeah

I think Ozempic is best as a last resort before surgery. It's probably a good tool to buy time while getting out of the toxic ritualistic mindset. I'd be curious to see how it compares to Vyvanse - now that it's prescribed to people with BED - since the effect on the patient seem so similar (despite affecting different organs). I was relieved that there were still a decent amount of sane comments on that video. The funniest was someone saying that they could see Matt writing "No Fats" on his Grindr bio, and I can see that too. IMO the same goes for Michael Hobbes. The Swiftie/FA crossover puts the Anti-Hero discourse into perspective. I'm not in her target audience (Suzuki is my favourite Swift), but I'm looking forward to hearing the Travis Kelce song when they put each other out of their misery.

I was so bummed that Matt was fanning out over fat acceptance. I couldn't even watch much of that interview when it came out, and I went through pretty much the exact same steps of docking "points" for his stances as you did. And I'm a fan, other than that. His discussions of trans issues with Contrapoints are so valuable and informative. Bizarre how science denial has finagled its way into so many different communities, even those combatting science denial in other areas. Was really glad to get your take on this interview. And I was able to watch more of it this way, LOL.

29:07 this kind of stuff not only happens online but in real life. I have literally walked into a small town smoke shop that had brochures for cheaper, off brand ozempic. Truly off brand. That is the kind of stuff that really worries me. They barely ID anyone that comes in and buys something (I'm not kidding. I think i was 17 when I bought a bong there lol) So if this were allowed to happen in MA (which it already has a little bit), I'd be really worried about the people with an ED similar to ana. I can see them using this is to allow them to eat the same or maybe a little more and either maintain or loose the little weight that they already have

i usually enjoy Matt, but i couldn’t get through this particular episode. I don’t have many thoughts on ozempic as i don’t need it. (I’m informed on the medicines the doctors prescribe me). I agree it should be for diabetes. I also don’t think ozempic is the “easy” way out. You still have to exercise, you still have to change how you eat or else you gain weight.
@EmptyTheTanksАй бұрын
I am generally annoyed that Ozempic is being thought of as a “weight loss drug” when even the website says “Ozempic is not a weightloss drug”. This trend of it being used for weightloss has made it repeatedly impossible for me to get access to it for my diabetes. I am totally fine with it as a weightloss intervention for people who are very large and need an immediate intervention. I am not okay with it being used by people who are already a normal weight or just barely overweight using it for vanity. Edit: I really appreciate you being one of the very few people who is keeping diabetics in the forefront of the conversation
