Not a diesel model. No tach, and powerstroke models had openings in the front bumper. Likely a 4.9L or 5.8L gas gas engine. I worked at a dealer that sold a ton of them just like that. I'd love to have one in a 4x2 Supercab with a 4.9L with ac in nice shape today.

I bought a 89’ Ford Ranger 5 speed, that looks like a smaller version of this 250. Learning how to work on it, gonna just tinker with it until I fully understand how it works

I agree that year isn't bad looking. But the best looking ford trucks are the 1970s up till 79. Then second best is 1980 through 1986. I just finished restoring a 1986 f250 4x4 with the 6.9 idi diesel engine.

Have a 97 f250 4x4 XLT 460 BBF FOR SALE. OG 80k miles on it runs strong rebuild trans literally 5k mile on. Does have some Michigan rust but nothing to bad easily can be fixed up. Just needs some brake work and exhaust work other than that it's solid mechanically. Has a 7 foot plow with it also works great has a extra sized crossover toolbox.

Those old fords you have to push the hood back down a little while hitting the release and it’ll come open

Same as my 1992, 5sp zf5 trans , mine has a 5.8 sadly instead of a 7.3 but still a great work truck for me. Almost rust free besides minimum surface rust on the frame and 1 can corner starting to go on the driver side

It’s probably welded shut so nobody steals the engine. My little brother inherited his dads 97’ F250 long bed with the power stroke diesel and old heads were calling him every single day trying to buy the engine off his hands for $15k back in the mid 2010s, I can imagine a part like that is extremely desirable.
