Audi A4 B9 Speaker Problem Again But Rear Speaker Problem (Bang & Olufsen)

hello there guys so today my audi has got another problem and this time its the speakers but its the rear ones on the parcle shelf, it makes a noise and to explain it, its like something is loose and it rattles when playing music and its not all the time its only sometimes which happens so its annoying the fact that this happens, i will be also getting this sorted out and hopefully this should get all sorted.

The problem is not the speaker. The covers TEND vibrate when playing certain beats resulting in that annoying l rattling sound. The trick around it is to put some sound deadening material between the cover and the sub

I had the same problem with the rear speaker. I fixed the problem myself. I used memory foam. The speaker plastic cover was making noises. And then I realised that the 3rd braking light was making noise so I squeezed some memory foam there as well. And now problem solved. I can use bass to the maximum. Thanks for the video

@@offtracknavigator3459 I took the speaker cover off I used a knife , I put some foam and then I put the cover back. And I squeezed some as well between the 3rd brake light and the roof of the car so it can stay tight.

The second grill has actually a little speaker for the surround system. I got the same problem as you. It appears that if you put foam or something to pad it the rattle will desapear

Its the metal frame of the parcel shelf that rattles. If you get some dynomat sound deadning and put it on the metal that rattling will go away

ive had that same problem with the stock concert speakers with no woofer...the thing that got the vibration sound was my rear brake light vibrating of the back windscreen

That’s the sub only that’s how they sound, I do admit yours does have a rattle make sure the case isn’t loose on top mine sounds mint sorry

Hi had the same problem with mine, turned out to be the rear high levl brake light making a noise, had it changed under warranty noise cured. Try pressing the brake light and see f that cures it...

Check AUDI TSB 70 Rattle from rear subwoofer grille (Technical service bulletin 70 16 52 2044503/1 June 9, 2016). Worked for me.

The sub is coupled to a 16 gauge aluminum deck in an idiotic way. These BO dummies layed the custom sub housing flat to the 16 gauge aluminum deck. So when the sub plays, the aluminum slaps against the bottom of the subwoofer housing around the sub basket/housing. Dumbest thing i ever seen in audio. A 2mm nylon spacer under the rearmost subwoofer mount point will help the most. Dynat the deck too while your there. But you will find big rattles in other places once you get these offenders fixed. So before buttoning everything up, you will also need to take care of these: 1. The third brake light is mounted with only two mount points on a spring. So it see-saws and slaps against the window then the metal roof. Dynamat the top rear of the light portion, than cover the entire rear (wrap around) with 2mm to 3mm felt. 2. Remove the passenger side (US) rear trunk side cover so that you can see the trunk strut (the shock absorber that helps open/close the trunk). The metal shaft rattles against the cylinder loudly. Dynamat the cylinder and press foam hard against the shaft. 3. On the same passenger side (US), the plastic tray which holds the jack will also rattle. Felt line all points where it meets the floor of the trunk. And dynamat the tray itself (on the bottom so you don't see it). 4. Standing at the rear of the car, and where the trunk itself seals to the vehicle closest to the window, you will find this rattles too. Haven't fixed this yet, but the only option i can see is to dynamat the trunk lid. 5. When you remove the rear deck panel, there will be an upholstered trim molding where the window meets the vehicle. This slaps against the vibrating metal deck with a vengeance. I coated the surface with 100% silicon and stuck the molding down permanently. I did two applications of silicon to it, first one adhering the back of the molding to the vehicle, and the second adhering the base of the molding to the rear deck lid. It will never come off in one piece ever again, but i can't see the need when I would ever take this piece off again, and it doesn't rattle anymore. 5. Where the rear deck panel (the upholstered part with the speaker grills), at the sub opening, and towards the rear of the sub housing, this area slaps against the subwoofer frame. 1/8" thick foam strips solves it. Or run an additional torx screw through the deck panel into the subwoofer housing at this rattle location. Won't fix all of the rattles, but this was the biggest offenders i have seen, and i've done 3 of these cars. Probably the worse design OEM subwoofer i have ever seen. BO/Audi restricted the cone area of the 10" sub. Then forward mounted the coil/magnet structure. Just absolute stupidity. They should have just used a 6x9 as a subwoofer, it would have sounded better.

forgot to mention, get some hushmat quiet tape (it is 1"x20'x1mm). Line all contact points on the rear deck panel when reassembling - especially the rear mount ears. + rip the screen off the top of the sub. When this delaminated from the subwoofer housing, it rattles too. Fabricating a rigid frame that stretches across the deck and mounts solidly to the vehicle would probably be the best fix and stop all the rattles by shunting all the vibrations to a solid part of the car. But besides fiberglassing it which is a huge pain, i don't see any easy way to make one. If the car doesn't have tint, maybe could make a mold with abs plastic and a heatgun.. But at the point that rattles suggest to fiberglass out of necessity.. well, its easier to just sell the car~

I got the same problem on my brand new A4, but it depends how deep or strong it’s on the song, and it’s very annoying that the bass and subwoofer volume is just half way and main volume it’s less than halfway, Audi supposed to know the power of the system and put better isolation to avoid the vibration oh their system

Same shit here.. taking it to the dealer tomorrow. They think the speaker is blown. Funny thing is. I did not hear anything today...We'll see what they say.

I have been to Audi 3 times for the same thing, they have said because if the cheap plastic it makes that noise but they do a have recall, and my car is going back next month for the recall hopefully that sorts the problem out

Hi. I found this problem to be the actual cover. Best way to test is to remove the plastic cover off the shelf. Then try it. If this is the case you can take it to audi and get replacment. However, replacment not any better! ThNks.

@@R4hmans In my case I ended up cutting out some sound deadening fabric and placed it inside covers on both sides . And the rattling stopped.

Ya, I had the same problem with B&Q A4 B9 model. I noticed the rattle was more severe on the back or subside. Here is what I did resolve the problem. (1). I went to the dealer shop & they installed rubber trims on the subwoofer, back-up light housing, and surround speakers. I think they did all front and back speaker housings ( they worked on it about 4hrs). They followed the Audi TB. It did not resolve the rattle 100%. (2) So, I put Dyna compatible mats on the back metal surfaces, and take out "back-up light" housing and put the better 1mm black-form tapes - Auto quality one from Amazon (on the lips where it mates with metal or plastic surface). Same thing for the surround speaker housings. Now, I can crank the volumes up very high & no distortions. If time available, I will take a few video clips and guide you guys through.

I have the same problem with mine. And it isn't also constant. Sometimes it's perfectly normal. I have the audi sound system option. Tell if you find any solution.

I’ve had the same issues took to the dealer. Told them I saw it was a common issue in forums. The tech was nice spent like 30 min trying to diagnose it. In the end they kept the car for a day padded all the speakers and the front grill, changed the fuses to the amps, and in the rear trunk lid it’s now covered with specific cloth they had to order. It only happens on bass boosted songs.

Turn off the "3D sound" setting and it no long rattles and actually sounds like it should. Crazy thats the default setting in this car. I love mine now
