Good to have you guys back, you were missed. I think you have to be an Audi enthusiast and have deep pockets to run something like this. I had a couple of Audi's when I was younger but I'm too old for the hassle of the over complication and unreliability. I do like the Audi engine plant in Gyor, Hungary. The technical stuff you guys cover is informative and I would trust your competence with any car I owned. Well done and thank you.

Not great for such low mileage cars. The air to water intercooler appears a real problem point. Note to owners to find that water leak earlier. Great video. Excited to see the S4 problem.

It goes with the territory. Few of these cars are going to be driven kindly and while not every owner gives their car a regular beasting many do, and it doesn’t help with longevity. More importantly Audi know these cars are going to have a hard life but they’ve only got to survive the warranty period and then it’s no longer Audi’s problem. Over-engineering isn’t a thing these days with volume manufacturers hence the number of plastic components we see around an engine in the name of reducing weight, and while they’re lighter they’re cheaper and quicker to produce - and usually good enough to hold up during the warranty period. Usually.

Another fantastic video...I have been on the spanners since I was 15 and I'm now 70 and cannot understand why today's engineering is so weak.....I would be crying my eyes out in frustration having spent a fortune on an Audi that has all these issues with relatively low mileage... Think I'll just keep my 17 year old truck and do what I need to keep it on the road..only time it will ever see a garage is for MOT everything else will be done by me..👍👍

Agree w/ you. I think it's just priorities in different places. Porsche do a bit more racing and testing I would say whereas Audi well seems do not design for great reliability. I also came up with a theory on complexity that Audi have 10 times more total parts than say a simpler Japanese motor. To keep so many more parts under watch for defects is much harder.

I would focus on 3 things. First is cooling. Get as much cooling in there to hot areas. Use the products that improve coolant wetting from Motul or Redline. 2nd use best oil such as LiquiMoly 0w40 Synthoil. 3rd: Don't tune it. Better to leave wide margins but if you have a good tuner then it may not be so bad. 4th: ENJOY!

Hello from Boston Mass! I just bought a 2005 C5 Allroad with 132 on the clock. The auto trans has failed so I am going to do a manual swap. While the engine is out I'll fix what else needs attention. I plan to do a slight tune but for now just going for reliability. That said what clutch would you recommend? I like the dual mass flywheel for it's feel and lack of chatter that is found with a single mass. The exhaust is shot so I will try a system from Billy Boat Exhaust. Their stainless X pipe system features mufflers with Helmholtz Resonance cancelling baffles to eliminate drone. After watching many of your videos I am happy with this 2.7T BEL code engine and it's timing belt! You do an excellent job of explaining a very complicated subject and I look forward to your next videos! Let us know when the t-shirts are back in stock! You guys are great! You ever had to fix the dynamic steering in Audi b9? I have an A4 and anytime I’m at 35 or above giving small turns left and right the steering wheel vibrates from the dynamic steering motor feels like it’s fighting itself, when I remove the fuse it goes away that’s how I know it’s in the steering column, there’s no sound or shake in the car, only the steering wheel, I have Audi warranty but they are dancing around it saying it’s ok, you ever had to deal with this issue?

Are the transmissions the same or slightly different? I believe the S4/S5 B9's have the ZF 8HP 65A, good for 516ft lbs (700nm) of torque, and the only difference is said to be a smaller and lighter torque converter on the RS5?

Hi, I have a late November 06 Audi Allroad 3.0 TDI 229BHP, just over 81,000 miles, full history. Absolutely no issues. Change the engine oil every 5k, mindful 100k getting closer, what should I be thing about changing, cam chains etc. it’s had the gearbox fluid changed, well I have a bit of paper, but I really don’t know if it has. Also, do you work on these Audis. Great posts, as always Thanks Paul

81k is extremely low miles for that age. Sounds like all is well. Keep eye on coolant quality. Brake fluid fresh. Use Motul Gear 300 or new VW fluid is ok too for gearbox.

@@jamesmedina2062 Hi James, I guess I was lucky to get my Allroad. It hasn’t had kids in it, no tow bar, or dogs. It’s a shame really as I’m the only one who gets in it. Still has that new car smell. Interesting you mentioned brake fluid, its going to my friendly Audi main dealer to have the fluid changed, it’s only £77. I’m going to get the gearbox fluid changed again, then I know it’s been done. Thanks got the advice

@@paulstansfield8693 Sure bro! I had a Passat Wagon for 14 years which was like the red-headed step-brother of the Audi cars and after so many years my back wished that I had had electric power adjust seats for the many highway miles. Audi are always so nice on the inside. So the brake fluid if you use a good one will give a better brake feel. As long as each corner is bled it helps and use a good fluid like a German brand or Motul RBF600. On these cars Pagid makes excellent pads. Cheers
