Cameron… you up for a pop quiz? Couple weeks ago I had misfires typically on cylinders 3 & 5 where the car goes into limp mode 2-10mins into a drive w/ rough idle. I’ve already changed all the plugs (no ash fouling), coil packs, injectors, PCV, carbon cleaned valves, new valve covers and gaskets, fully charged battery and still have misfires on cylinders 3 & 5, but now only at WOT and idle is much better. I’m hoping the HPFP will fix the issue since I also am hearing a ticking sound from the passenger side near the pulleys and think it’s the HPFP going bad. If that doesn’t fix it, my big concern is the cats are going bad. But no cat faults popping up. I’m current stock waiting to sort all this out to run stage II tune… your thoughts?

Thanks man. Unfortunately, I’m in CA so can’t gut them or go test pipes. Can’t find it in myself to replace with OEM replacements due to cost and install time. Fingers crossed the pump fixes the issues! Thx for your opinion!

Hey Cameron! I’m still struggling with cylinder 3 & 5 misfires consistently. The cats are fine, but misfires happen only while in tiptronic manual mode under throttle or downshifts. Car won’t misfire if left in auto mode. Compression tests are 165-170 for all 6 cylinders. Got an educated guess on what the issue could be? VW and Audi techs can’t figure it out. Any thoughts appreciated!

man i shoulda recorded when i did mine it was so funny, managed to get the pump apart without a vice lol got it checked by an audi tech and everything was perfect

With how stuck mine was I wouldn't have been able to get it loose without a vice & the tool. I didn't want to hammer away at it with a screw driver lol

Could the Hpfp / cam follower cause fuel getting into crankcase?

Hi Cameron, I just did this install a few days ago and my S5 is running very well. The only issue I am having is that I am having a strong fuel smell coming directly above the hpfp and the hard fuel line. I've reinstalled it and tightened everything to spec and I'm still getting a strong smell of fuel from that area. I used water with soap and sprayed everything and there's no visible fuel leak or vapors. What do you think is causing the fuel smell?

Check the softline for leaks as well, but double check the hardline often as you drive.

What do you mean by needing an ethanol gauge to run E-40?

I dont live in the us so not 100% on the fuel stations there but is it not because you can only get e85? So you need to mix e85 with 93 and having that fuel content sensor means you know what the ethanol content is

You need to install an ethanol content analyzer and gauge so you know your ethanol content. If you run a file for e40 but get an e60 mix, you could damage the engine.

You need to data log and look at the pump duty cycle

What size is your aftermarket fuel hoes, mine has several cuts in it i dont know how but iv been smelling gas and finally found the hoes to be the culprit i just dont know what size hoes to buy.

I forget off hand, but honestly the best option is to look up the part number for the oem fuel line and find a used one on ebay. That's the safest and easiest way to do it.
