@@ajeysingh7437 Working in IT industry for 8 years. I agree somewhat that after initial 2-3 years, the tag of 'quality engineering college' does not matter much. It's all about acquired skill sets and staying upto date with the changes. However, most of the marvelous coders, god level technical folks I have seen in IT industry, most of them graduated from reputed engineering or science colleges.
@anshumansahu1087

@@ajeysingh7437 The painful truth is if someone is from a quality engg. College, then he must pursue a quality job as a priority. A quality engineer must not be slugging out for an opportunity in a queue trying to land a job for survival. His job is to build and others must follow. The quality you talk about is not from top to bottom or from a bottom to top approach. Quality builds up from and individual. There are people employed in Google who are not even graduates. Similarly, there are instances where IITans have been employed by people who have not even passed out of their high schools. It's about the quality of the individual not the institute. Humans are full of flaws. The people at the top sometimes reach the bottom and vice versa.

I faced such exit interviews twice in my life and the last one made me have confidence in myself that I can achieve anything. Today I earn twice as much as the 16+ years experience VP whom I used to report and used to lecture me 12 years from now you can be here where I am. 4 years from that day, I earn twice more than he does. Thanks to him that I could reflect on myself and make it this far and definitely will go further but also make champions out of new comers who join my road. Keep telling them never to take shit from seniors and they learn it right from being a newbie and they are growing with more acceleration than I do and feel so happy about it.

If you got no specifics to showcase your claims for that person is void. I give a rats ass if you are from any college, this pedigree hiring is like the worst thing ever. So many good people are not from pedigree schools and with a good character and capability. Some stupid tests defines admission into these schools and than the attitude follows as well. Every person is not bold enough to stand up against a poor rating, especially when some senior ppl can be non approachable and a**hole like behaviour. These are all general etiquettes. BTW if you are marking her as a C rating and asking her to leave on those grounds and want to retain A and B, that clearly states she is an underperformer. Stop playing with words seriously! The people in HR don't have a clue. The only thing that irks me is that they play at knowing more than they actually do. If you have to lie, construct a better lie, "Scalability blah blah blah, performance blah blah blah", they think stringing a few words together make them seem more informed but far from it. I was being denied a promotion despite being a high performer, but the HR insisted "we won't be able to assign you a senior engineer role due to the lack of requirements". The project had an internal job posting for a senior engineer at that time XD.

@@sumitsharma-us2sl I have changed multiple companies in my career, reasons... 1. They were getting more unemployed people who were demanding less salaries, so the managers decided to hire for less. Of course they gave other reasons, confidential, so even I don't know. 2. One telecom company used to ask us to do overtime almost everyday for virtually no extra payment, I did overtime for 6 months without pay, but after 6 months I joined an advanced degree course and wanted to attend only weekend classes, but the manager refused even that, manager kept forcing me to do overtime specially on weekend, and when I said No, that's when they started harassing me, first they changed my shift timing to make me uncomfortable, then they started auditing my performance everyday, more than other executives, then they started sending me to HR for lame reasons like I go to washroom too often, even when I don't even smoke, I take longer breaks, even when only just a few time I was late by 5 minutes, I was sent to HR office, my targets were being monitored extra carefully and when they saw that I am still not ready to give up, the manager started literally shouting at me in front of everyone in the office for the slightest mistake, and started threatening me to fire, and that's when I asked a few tough question as how this small thing can lead to termination and other employees favored me, so he backed off and after a week he made my performance report in such a way that I was looking a burden on the company and then again I was sent to HR, who ultimately asked me politely to resign with 30 day period to find another job, I tried to reason my botched up report and tried to tell how I was being harassed for overtime, to which HR politely said that reasons are confidential and can't be discussed, also I should not be complaining about forced overtime because it's industry's trend to milk the employees like that and that she can't do anything in this regard. I got the idea and left the job immediately and that turned out good for me because I was stuck in this company for many years and never tried any other company and after leaving this company I joined an MNC with almost double the package. So guys, if you think you are working hard for the company and in turn company will also look after you, then you are at fault, do your job with full devotion and be always ready to switch, also try to invest some money every month in bonds or safe shares and you will be always free from worries. Companies are never your friend, they are using you, and doing that very badly, they may say that they are doing favors to you by paying you but without you they will be out of business, for these companies, you are either an asset or a liability, not a human being, they don't care if you fall sick or you have some other problems, they mean business, as long as they are making profit by using you, you will keep working for them, if they see they are getting same skills in less pay, they will fire you in no time. That's why west out source their menial jobs to third world countries, so that they get the work done in less pay and that leads to more profits, they don't bother about their own citizens loosing jobs, indian businesses have similar mentality. You are either an asset or a liability to the company, they don't consider you a human, you are just a resource for them, Human Resource.

The same thing has happened to me back in August 2014. I was in shock, disappointed and even though my quality score has always been on top and my name has come up once among the top performers of a particular month as well. I was praised by the quality team as well as my team leader. Everything was fine, until I protested about some unethical thing that was happening within the process, as well as the misbehavior that my team leader was doing. In tcs there is a policy named as "respect to individuals" and everyone has to abide by tht. I reported the same to our HR, and she has taken steps, the team leader got bad rating, bt wht I didn't know is a long conspiracy were happening behind my back, without me even knowing. And exactly the same way as they did here I have been asked to leave few months later. I wasn't strong like this girl. It was my dream job. I was depressed, I couldn't blv it fr months. For me my career was destroyed. I had to take counseling and even to date I really didn't overcome it. But thankfully I had the support of my family, specially my mom and now finally I am doing better, had a job , not a dream one, but going along for the time being.

Guys, listen to me carefully. I was a Tata employee (not TCS) for 10 years. Tata didn't sacked me. Tata sold our company to another MNC altogether. The whole axing of employees and selling of companies are minimum after Mr. Tata took the previous chairman head on.

I'm not sure if how many people know about this.... But it's not the HR who expels any employee from the organization, but the decision is solely from the particular project leadership and all the HR department does is facilitate the exit process, in the same way as they facilitate the onboarding process to fill the project requirement as directed by the business /project. Blaming the HR for the expulsion is similar to shooting the bearer of bad news.

But when you do the job , you have to take the blame . Fyi HR is the one who is the bridge between employees and employer (leadership). HR should have spine to inform management, what happens in india is spineless HR department ppl who act as puppets of management or " particular project leadership ". If it is just a job of facilitating then why did we study organization behaviour, HRD , Etc ? Even a pune or clerk with basic degree can facilitate paperwork or system work to explain that he/she employee is exiting or joining etc. What is the use of professional education , If u cannot streamline firing & hiring process!?

@@rarags777 Very well said. But what you said is the ideal situation, and all of us working in corporate India know that things are nowhere near ideal. Yes, showing spine sounds very idealistic, and there are situations where you try to do it and there are situations where it doesn't work because it's not the spine of one person which decides things in the company. And before you go about saying that the HR department should stand up for everything.... Think about it, even they are employees of the organization rather than being an independent function. There are a lot of situations where things goes really well for the employees because of the HR interventions.... But understandably, those stories doesn't get as much of a traction like the ones mentioned in this audio clip. And I'm sure you wouldn't have thought even for once regarding how it's like working for a department which handles every employee's issues, but inturn don't have anybody to turn to... Or put the blame on. And believe me.... It's not great ...and it's as equal bad as any other employee in the company or maybe even worse because you get blamed on one side and on the other side you don't really have anyone to help you out. So yes, when we think ideally... Things aren't working exactly the way they should, in every department /function. But should they function perfectly?... Yes!!!. But does that mean it doesn't function at all and that it's upto no good? .....No!. Certain things have got more than what meets the eye... As years pass by, things might move towards a more better corporate culture.... And all of us have our parts to play in it.

Well, that is true. IT companies will lay off people when they gain so much experience in a field. As the experience gains, the company has to pay more. If they didn't pay well and keep them in the same salary, people say that this company will not give any hikes. So to reduce cost and avoid such a bad reputation. They fire the senior experience people and promote the lower level one to the senior with small hikes. You are just a resource for the IT company.

This is good. This video should be played before every "placement" in colleges. And if TCS or any other company gets infuriated and walks off the campus, then good riddance - more space for better companies. To the talented guys and girls in BE/BTech reading this - DO NOT JOIN THESE SHITTY SERVICE BASED COMPANIES. It's better to spend another year preparing for Masters and/or competitive exams or get some external certification than joining these for "experience". You learn NOTHING in the first two or three years of joining these companies - the fourth year you learn that you wasted nearly 1500 days of your life.
