Trying to stick criminal offences to cops doing their duty is mostly a waste of time, professional standards is a much more realistic and fruitful route. The courts give a LOT of latitude to "cops on the street" which is understandable really as the sitations they face can be very context dependent.

@Tai Chi Tube assault as you are made to believe that if you don’t comply they will put hands on you , if they actually do arrest you then it becomes assault and battery . In your case it would have also been false imprisonment ( by what information you have given ) . There have been auditors that have used this against police and police usually pay out £500 for the threat ,£500 for the assault and battery and £500 for the false imprisonment . Also if you are in the cells for a significant amount of time you will get a certain amount of money as compo for that as well

I just wanted to thank you to AB and all the other Auditors out there due to an experience I had with Essex Police last night. Myself and a friend were shouted at very aggressively by a police officer on Southend seafront for no reason and when we ignored him he put hands on me.Thanks to watching the videos I had the knowledge and confidence to tell him to get his hands off me and that he has no right to touch me and bark at us as he was. His face was a picture I just wish I has a camera on.But surprise surprise he still gave us a directive at the end! Keep up the good work I am seriously thinking of starting up Essex Audits as this had really been an eye opener!

A perfect example of how to, and how not to police. The nice officer who came over stayed at a distance and you could tell from his expressions that he thought the Inspector was way out of line. He then tried to put the PC into a difficult position and ran away inside. The PC done well to stifle his laugh! The Inspector was shocking, power hungry and egotistical. It is bizarre that he feels he can order and control members of the public in this manner. A serious re-training is required. He could take an example from the PC's who had to sort out the mess he created.

I didn’t really have respect for the police but a couple of years ago I was questioned under caution and the arseholes tried to intimidate me, told outright lies etc Luckily for one I knew they were lying, I knew I was innocent but it shocked me how many times they twisted the truth and to my face destroyed my character. They released me that day and have heard not one word since, but really left me, not traumatised, but bloody angry for weeks cause I felt there was no comeback for me. I wouldn’t trust one of them, they are the biggest liars out and the worst type of people, only rarely do you get one that’s a half decent human being

The worrying thing is that there's a high chance he speaks to everyone like this. And sadly far too many people will be less assertive and less informed about their legal rights than AB. And they will cave in to the Inspector and say something that he will use against them. Plus it's very clear when answering his questions that if you give him an explanation that indicates that everything you're doing is legal, he will disbelieve you and keep digging for something to use against you. Either from your own lips or from elsewhere, including his imagination and misrepresenting what you or anyone else has said. The Inspector's attitude, mindset and behaviour will have led to multiple people either being wrongly convicted or wrongly being dragged through the courts and legal process. Because you can't win. 1 If you don't answer his questions he will make your life as difficult and miserable as he possibly can. Until you do answer his questions. 2 If in answering his questions, you say nothing that he can use against you he will disbelieve you. 3 If in answering his questions he finds something he can use against you, he will. This includes things that can be interpreted in more than one way. He will always take the interpretation that would get you into most trouble. I was waiting for AB to tell the Inspector that his tie was too short. Because that was all that the Inspector deserved. Some micky taking.

As usual, AB had a correct understanding of the law. It is good that he pointed out the requirement for a driver, when stopped by the police on a public road, to provide either their driving licence or their details, which differs from the USA. Failure to do so is a criminal offence.

There is a way for everyone, including the question of who is and what AB does with the previous "Hello, I'm xxxxx, I work here as xxxx, the number of the badge xxxxx, what are you doing here, why are you recording?" it is his intention to be ashamed of such matters. I would bet he has a nasty record of abuse, at least the younger cops seemed to be somewhat embarrassed by him as they should be. I can see a good future for the man with the tie that thought that he was there to safe the UK from going under because of a guy like AB taking pictures. He is clearly in the wrong job and can't handle the powers he thinks he has. I found him the right job, he could become a full time patient of a mental hospital where they have experience with that kind of fools, if they stay outside for too long (which seemed to have been the case here) they become very dangerous for law abiding members of the public, he's already over the sell by date and has to be locked up as soon as possible, or if possible even sooner.
