Merseyside Police Operational Command Centre & PC Butthurt

A state-of-the-art home on the Estuary Business Park in Speke for Merseyside Police’s Matrix Serious and Organised Crime (MSOC) Unit
The teams which make up the Matrix Serious and Organised Crime (MSOC) Unit are currently based in separate leased buildings no longer fit for purpose. The new centre will enable them to co-locate in a facility which is economically efficient and designed for the requirements of a modern police force.
Scope
• The facility includes a main three-storey concrete framed building with changing accommodation, a gym and equipment stores on the ground floor with office accommodation for specialist units on the top two floors.
• The site will also have a separate single-storey building to be used for administrative purposes, plus a kennel block, fuel station, car wash facility and dog vehicle cleaning ramp.
Pre-construction
• 575 apprentice weeks have been targeted for the project - six apprentices, four of whom are directly employed by the main contractor, currently work on the site.
• The first of some 25 planned community activities, we have recently engaged a local nursery to partake in an Ivor Goodsite colouring competition, and arranged a charity football match and bike ride to raise funds for MIND.

MATRIX is the new " trendy " name given to what was the Operational Support Group. They are the mobile resource that can be dispatched to incidents to supplement the local first response teams. The real reason the dog section, mounted section, armed response, (I'm told also the counter terrorism unit) and MATRIX are all being located at Speke is because Merseyside police got a big grant for having a resource close to John Lennon airport. The OSD have a chequered past, notably for excessive violence and routinely fitting up people during random stop searches.

My favourite part of these videos is when plain clothes officers walk up for a 'chat'... After a few questions, they inevitably pull out a badge and say, "I'm a police officer." You can just tell that the usual reaction they get from the public is fear/shock/respect. And it's what they expect all the time. When they receive nothing from AB - they don't like it one bit and it puts them on the back foot. It's like a comedian falling flat with a joke. Oops.😅😅🤣🤣 Never gets old.

MATRIX is the Arms and Tactical unit, they only deal with serious crimes like drugs and gun crime. The Irish fella was continually trying to close down your space and encircle you. A lesser experienced auditor wouldn’t have cottoned on to that tactic, so well done AB for having your wits about you. 👍
