I like to think Heifetz would have approved this performance. Mr. Hadelich is a gift to all of us, especially at this moment in human history.

In my opinion, as a professional violinist of 35 years, I think Augustin is the finest living violinist. I have a lot of other favorites of course but I think for pure technique AND his amazing musicianship, he's really the full package and always moves me so deeply with his interpretations and beautiful slides. I could listen to him endlessly.

I agree. For a long time Hilary Hahn was my all time favorite, but Hadelich's musicianship and gorgeous melting sound is unmatched

Thanks for sharing on the Tube. It was about 1942, in Portland, Oregon - my Dad and my Grandfather, Hans, who was a violinist, got to see Heifetz in concert. It was SRO and they had to lean against a pillar. Heifetz played this as an encore. My Dad snuck a peek at Gramps, whose eyes were welling up as Heifetz played. Years later, before Dad passed in '82, he and I were watching Heifetz play Estrellita in the movie, "They Shall Have Music" (1939), and out of the corner of my eye I could see Dad's eyes welling up with tears the same as his Father had in 1942. I'm sure he was remembering that time when he and his Dad got to see the great Heifetz together.

Have you considered releasing the piano tracks as separate videos? I'm sure that thousands of aspiring violinists would love to play along to an original Hadelich piano track.

Oh god, the textures and tones between the bowing and sound of the instrument, and then just the finger articulation. The beautiful and perfect slides and rich and varied vibrato. I don’t know how performances like this are possible but it gives me hope in general and inspiration in my own playing.

First time I see Augustin and Heifetz in the same text. Augustin is a Oistrakh admirer, and I've always asked myself what he thinks of the other violin hero I have, cause Heifetz and Augustin, Augustin and Heifetz (in the order you prefer) are at the top of the pantheon of my violin gods.

Bella pieza del ilustre compositor mexicano Manuel M. Ponce, orgullo de la Ciudad de Fresnillo, Zacatecas, México !
It is inspiring that a violin can sound like that. It's such a sad piece. I wonder if there is a word for this emotion - imagining the pain of someone else.
