He could have chosen any political from the time of the Roman republic to compare him with trump but no he compared him with an emperor and not even an emperor of the prinzipat but an emperor of the early dominat. He really did a lot for the people of the time and helped the west stay together for a long time just from his 5-year reign. Imagine if he could’ve reigned for 10,15,or even 20 years, how much better off the Empire would’ve been.

He just evacuated the city, had his soldiers plunder it, then razed it to the ground.

They had a history of killing romans before, during, and after Caesar. He conquered them, which in antiquity meant death and enslavement to the conquered. Roman prisoners were treated equally as horrible by Gauls too. Pretty simple really, if you were loyal to Caesar and Rome, life goes on. If you put up armed resistance, you get bested by one of the greatest generals of all time.
