@Justin Sharpe Yeah true, I'm just saying that given the New Generation era, that Austin 3:16 promo could be considered the genesis of Attitude in the WWF. Moments like Austin first stunning Vince in MSG in September 1997, Bret losing his s*** at Vince on a RAW show, and even the Team USA vs The Hart Foundation were all WWF stuff that built the foundation for the Attitude Era. And obviously the Screwjob as well.

Vince first said the word "attitude " during that promo the week after survivor series 97 so alot of people make the official start date and that it officially ran until may 2002 with the name change and him announcing ruthless aggression but to me the attitude era ended at WM 17.

The WM14 is kinda of hard to watch given Shawn was in pain and wasn't in the best place personally. The injury was unfortunate and I remember kinda missing him simply because I didn't want his career to end in that way. I do think his backstage attitude/politics had finally gotten to a point where ppl were just fed up with him and started tuning him out.

If you look at footage of the HBK-Undertaker match from Royal Rumble '98, you can clearly see that Shawn's buttocks hit the casket not his lower back. The question you have to ask yourself is "Did Shawn really hurt his back? Or is that what 'they' wanted us to believe?" On a further note, wasn't it interesting that Big Show (back when he was The Giant in WCW) injured his neck due to a botched Jacknife Powerbomb from Kevin Nash at Souled Out around the time of HBK's "injury?" And then both men won world titles at the Survivor Series in '02! Coincidence? Or did the Vatican strike again?
