I just purchased a Autel EVO 2 used it’s coming from California I’m in Texas so I downloaded all 3 of your videos so I can calibrate it when I get it thanks for the detailed videos.

Thank you for the clarification on doing the update. I will redo the calibrations in the order that you specified. I had problems with the gimbal not ready error. I was told to leave it on and ready to fly and wait for 2 to 5 minutes and this should go away. As I was not busy, I let it sit for 30 minutes with the propellers off and ready to fly. After 7 minutes the gimbal not ready error went away but keep reappearing every couple of minutes or so. A compass calibration video maybe in order for us who never flew a DJI drone maybe of a help also. Happy Flying!
@HobartsReviews4 жыл бұрын
David, yeah that came directly from Autel for time being until they can fix the errors. After compass calibration outside with gps it seems to get better as well. Good luck and let me know if all is good.

@@HobartsReviews The fix was to update my firmware to 2.5.12 and to recalibrate. That solved most problems. Now it doesn`t like flying lower than 12m. The obstacle avoidance slows the drone to a stop. I fly low to avoid the headwinds.

Thank you for the video . Just a question do I have to do IMU calibration
@HobartsReviews4 жыл бұрын
Yes! But then giving us the option to do a manual IMU calibration They want us to do it after each software update at a minimum. Do them in the order as I said in the video and you should be good.

Good to hear about the order of calibration. Does it matter when one does the Obstacle Avoidance Sensors calibration?
@HobartsReviews3 жыл бұрын
Andrew, I am not sure as I have not had to calibrate my sensors yet. Good morning I understand it's on something you need to do all the time.

@@HobartsReviews After updating the firmware (I think 2.5.18), I attempted to calibrate the gimbal. Each time a message would pop-up indicating that the "aircraft is shaking, unable to calibrate." I placed it on a solid table and it was still throughout the process. I never received a message indicating that the calibration was a success. Incidentally, I was able to successfully calibrate the IMU following your instructions. Prior to this update I had no issues calibrating the gimbal. Any suggestions?

How often should an IMU calibration be done? After firmware updates, New locations?
@HobartsReviews2 жыл бұрын
Yes exactly!

I'm stuck on the 3 axis compass calibration could you do a video on that??
@HobartsReviews4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I can. The 3rd axis is just like the IMU calibration on step 3. Turn it on its side and go in a circle. You should be good.
@antdwg674 жыл бұрын
@@HobartsReviews ok thanks...I will give that a try Monday I'm about to update to 2.5.12 that was just released in a little bit here. Thanks again!

Like your informative videos. After gimbal calibration inside, is it safe to then turn off drive for a half hour repower up and do a compass calibration and fly. Or should you do gimbal calibration at fly site. Also how often do you do the IMU calibration? Thanks
@HobartsReviews3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jerry, Thanks for the kind words! If it was me I would do all of the calibrations while I'm at home and then when you drive a half hour to your flying location then just do a compass calibration to make extra sure that the drone knows where home is. If for some reason it gets stuck on your house 30 minutes away that may not be good. some say you might not need to do another calibration so close to home but I go by the better safe than sorry motto lol

Do you think its worth the update at this time? And thank you for the video. Stupid question, how do you do a gimbel calibration?
@HobartsReviews4 жыл бұрын
Hey Clifton, honestly I'm not sure if it's worth it because I have had some issues even after the latest 2.5.12 update. Good question on the gimbal. if you go to your gimbal settings there will be a automatic gimbal calibration option. Make sure your drone is on a flat surface like a table and go ahead to that section and hit gimbal calibration and it will calibrate. You'll see the gimbal move all over the place during calibration. Don't touch it just leave it be until the finishes.

Is this still an issue or is it resolved via an update?

Has what been resolved?
@SW-Video4 жыл бұрын
@@HobartsReviews : This issue with the IMU you talk about in the video. Also; is this something that has to be done more than once or is it like DJI with the seamless start up process? I have an E2P on order so I'm not talking bad about it; just want to know what I can expect.
@HobartsReviews4 жыл бұрын
Bob, yes it was fixed in a further update. Autel recommends to do the IMU after each software update along with the compass and gimble calibrations.
@SW-Video4 жыл бұрын
@@HobartsReviews : Thank you. That seems a little odd to me but I will do it that way. I think I heard Autel comes out with updates every two months or so. Does that sound right or has it been your experience as well?
@HobartsReviews4 жыл бұрын
Bob, yeah Autel said it's best practice after a software update. Yes for the most part sometimes sooner sometimes later. Our last update was Dec. 22nd 2020.

Hi do i need to do a imu it is it just IF i got problems Whit THE drone.?
@HobartsReviews4 жыл бұрын
You NEED to do an IMU calibration after you do the software update in the order I mentioned. After that Autel says to do an IMU update after software updates in the future and/or if you have issues with the drone.
