I’m about to get one myself. I already have multiple scan tools for everything else including an Autel so I’m thinking about saving a few bucks and going with the im508 since all I would really use it for is things like in this video here. I don’t need wireless capability or anything like that. I just do the occasional key programming and mostly module replacements so the 508 should fit the bill for around $1200. I figure that’s worth it just for the pin functionality alone.

I agree! I am so happy with my IM508. The 608 is not necessary if you have other scan tools already!

caravans are easy , i have done used through 2019, Pacificas are a different platform and not easy used in my experience.

What codes are setting? Are you sure your replacement PCM has the proper calibrations

I have a 906TS and have been over all very satisfied with its performance and capability. (I am not strong on euro but I have been able to code a few modules wiper / cem on vw audi) I purchased the im608 not so much for a diagnostic scanner but for the immobilizer functions. I do not have enough information on the ultra to give advice, it seems like it will be very capable of course, but no have the immo functions that I need.

It actually pulls the pin on most, even 01 to 03s with the Pacifica systems: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bIKbmqZ-j72Xb6s The IM608 Displays a vehicle list shown at 2:47 in this vid.. but.. there might be a laps in 04 - 07 Caravan. You can Clip onto the EEPROM in the SKREEM unit and pull/read the dump file no problem with the XP400 that comes with the 608: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5e9pWNqe5ydosU

Does the Autel IM608 have the ability to virginize a used SKIM module? Meaning can I take a used SKIM module and change the PIN and VIN to use it in another car? I am mainly interested in pre-CAN PCI bus vehicles. I cannot find this info. I know it will pull a PIN pre-CAN but I don't know if this will also virginize a SKIM.

Which one are you referring to? I have not used the 608 for j2534 programming it can be used as a pass through.

I'm trying to program a Dodge 2010 1500 trying to add new keys The win is locked out because somebody did too many tries without the pin code Do you know how to clear the win , so I can program these new keys I do have the four digit code now from the dealer

U need the 4 digit pin , to get out of lock out put a charger on it and leave the key on for over 1 hour

Just to confirm. You were connected through a J-2534 to do all this? Or can I copy an original PCM, and transfer it to a used PCM with just the Autel? Seems like everyone always skims over this part. Autel advertises it as having ability to program PCM, write VIN, etc. But everything I find says you need J-box for this, and Autel doesn't come with a J-box.

Doing a used ecm in this application, if the used ecm has the proper calibration , the autel takes care of the functions required. In fact if you have the pin code a standard autel 906 series or above will give the function "pcm replaced " in the wcm special functions.

Autel not so much for programming, just set up / initialization, keys etc. Wi tech pretty good most times..
